The most populated city in Montana with about 100,000 residents, Billings was once a booming oil town and crossroads for the railroad. With an economy that is still based on cattle and grain, the city is surrounded by the Bighorns, the Pryor Mountains, and the majestic Beartooth Mountains. Places of interest include several museums like the Yellowstone Art Museum with its huge collection of Western art, the Western Heritage Center, Peter Yegen, Jr., Yellowstone County Museum, and the Moss Mansion. There are also a couple of local places that will appeal to kids and wildlife lovers like ZooMontana and the Beartooth Nature Center. Should one need to cool off during a long, hot summer day, they can always visit the Big Splash Waterpark or take a two-hour tour of the city on board a 1930's trolley.
