Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) is located on the Saigon River, Vietnam's major port and largest city. A distinct mixture of both old and new, tourists can stay in grand hotels, some which date from the colonial era, shop at new stores and boutiques, and dine in some of the many fine restaurants and cafes. Some of the interesting attractions are the War Remnants Museum, the Vietnam History Museum, the Emperor Jade Pagoda as well as Cholon, the Chinese District that is filled with pagodas and exotic shops. It is also a good location for those tourists who wish to visit some of the southern locations like the Mekong Delta, Phan Thiet Beach, and the Cu Chi Tunnels.
