When people think of Costa Rica they do not usually think of San Jose, the capital of the Central American tourist hub. But San Jose contains many interesting historical, educational and simply entertaining sights. Outside of the city you will find nature in all its glory, but inside of the city you will find food, lodgings, entertainment and culture all at once. San Jose has a well-preserved theater, many parks and fountains, a theme park that recreates past Costa Rican culture and a museum that contains over 1,600 pieces of gold. A good method when visiting Costa Rica is to overwhelm your senses in San Jose, and then recover outside of the sprawling historic town.
