Convento do Espinheiro, Historic Hotel & Spa

I thought it was an old convent converted to a hotel. It is that but it is a fully functional convent with a chapel and all the highlights of a beautiful convent. I felt like Maria from the sound of music!

The 2 restaurants only the expensive upscale was open and we really just felt like more of a casual dinner after driving and touring. If they close one they need to offer a more varied menu as the property is in a remote area and we didn’t want to leave our palace just to dine!

Everything very tidy and cleaned. Employees were, in general, very nice and helpfull. Lovely typical welcome drink and little wine and oil tasting. The swimming pool os very good, as well as the spa area. Breakfast is awesome.

Decoration could bem improved in some aspects and details.

This is a spectacular property. The restored monastery and church are just wonderful. The staff goes out of their way to be welcoming. The food in all the restaurants was excellent. The spa professionals were superbly competent. The outside pool and pool bar were excellent. We were just a bit regretful that we only stayed two days.
