Lovely spacious room, warm, Flat screen TV staff lovely and friendly
We booked a suite but only got a room because they had over booked so was very disappointed about that
We came in the morning in a hurry to check bags and get out to the football game. Train had been a mishap in the morning, amongst other things on our time in Yorkshire (don't judge this hotel on the area, it's a really nice place.) The check-in process was great, they took our bags no problem and gave us keys for after 2 p.m. Then they called a cab for us. After two or three calls, and about 30 minutes, a cab still hadn't shown up. I was upset, but Sandeep, one of the employees of the Mercure, went out of his way to advocate for me. He personally walked me to the nearest taxi stand. When none showed up there, he called again and insisted they get someone out there in the next five minutes in no uncertain terms, taking down the registration number of the car that was supposed to show. This time the cab did arrive. If it were for his willingness to go above and beyond and make my problem, his problem, I wouldn't have made it to the game on time. It was fantastic customer service and it turned my mood around. The point is... this is one story of how professionally run this place is, in an area where not everything is very professional. Well worth your stay.
Comfortable, friendly staff Little things - such as not enough milk provided with tea/coffee making facilities - for 2 people - in the bedrooms; insufficient toiletries provided - although we had our own
Clean comfortable hotel in excellent location, particularly liked small square with choice of eateries and close proximity of city hall. Nothing comes to mind
Location Much too noisy (outside noise) despite being on the fifth floor and no provision for parking nearby
Central location. Excellent staff. Good value for money.
The staff were excellent. Although they were short-staffed, those that were working were outstanding. My room on the top floor was very noisy due to the lift machinery sounding as if it is on its last legs.
