The staff was very nice as they upgraded my room to an ocean front view. I had a great view with a very large room. The hotel needs to be remodeled. The bathroom was very old and peeling paint from the vanity. The room had a very awkward smell every time entered.
Comfort , cleaning , food etc Valet parking very slow
The hotel is beautiful with two pools, great spa, everything you would expect from a Trump Resort. Thought the price could have been a bit better during these tough economic times and considering the hotel was half empty.
Excellent amenities and beach Locatio All good
I'm extremely on happy with the customer service, I was told by the front desk at check-in that all resort fees are included, I was surprised at checkout to see those fees add to my bill, when I spoke with the manager Normita Netterville and explained the situation she was very rude and unhelpful and said out loud that if I don't like the hotel policies I can go next time somewhere else!
The view tv did not work. had repairman in the room at 1 am!
Beautiful surroundings and ecellent food. Room was beyond expectations!
great value for money Not in a very hip and happening area
The beds are comfortable and the rooms are sound proof. There was broken glass by the mini fridge when we first arrived. There was left over food particles in the cabinets. The bathroom was equipped for 2 people even though 4 were on the reservation. The outside vinyl wicker lounge chairs were broken. The person at the towel stand didn't know if there was a vending machine on site. When you check in, they swipe your credit card for incidentals, once I returned home, there was a charge on the credit card. When I called to inquire, I was told we used items from the mini bar. I told them this was not true because we had gone across the street to Publix and the liquor store to buy alcohol and even left more than what was provided. They reluctantly reversed the charges.
Dominique was very rude front desk! The hotel d ouble charged me! I'm still waiting on a refund for double charged resort fees! I was told free Wifi and they still charged me for wifi! I asked for a bay view.. And they gave me a shopping plaza view .. I would've paid extra for a better view but the guy Domnique lied and said I already had a bay view .. :(
Hôtel très bruyant
The beach access was wonderful. The bar and restaurant had by far the best service of almost any where I've ever been. No doubt will return.
I loved the pool even though it was not for doing laps. The view from my room was awesome. The food was great and everything was very clean.
Kind staff. Excellent handling of an unusual situation. The room was a bit small. Also the closet is tiny and can only be opened by blocking the TV. No room to store luggage.
You will need a car or fairly long and expensive cab rides to go anywhere fun
great beach did not receive my wake-up call, which was critical in making 6 AM flight.....very unhappy with the hotel
The location is the best.
close to the beach
Great location; spacious rooms; kitchen facilities; decent work out facilities. The hotel is showing some wear. Front desk and bell station are not particularly attentive. At check in, the bathroom in the original room was not clean.
The room was very small comparing to other hotels of same category
Close proximity to the beach. We stayed at the change management period to Marenas Resort. The services were not good at all.
The staff were very helpful, the suite was exceptional
The location. I ordered the room that was not a suite. When we got there it was smaller than my child's bedroom and we immediately has to upgrade to a suite. The room was so small that we felt clostrophic.
The beds are extremely comfortable! I didn't find the staff to be very friendly, very business like.
desig additional charges
Proximity to beach Size of room
The location was central. Staff was friendly. Hotel was secure. The bar and on site restaurant was nice and the staff very friendly. My room was extremely small. Balcony was about the size of a table. If you crane your neck you could see the water. Poor Desigb in shower no way to turn on without getting wet.
Great place, friendly staff, good location. Valet parking fees.
The view from the balcony is mesmerizing! Beach is great!
Beautiful location and nice rooms Hidden surcharges like resort fees, false advertising for free breakfast that was not free
Some of the staff were very good/accommodating, but others were rude. Facilities were decent for price. Excellent location with many nearby must haves (Starbucks, grocery store, Walgreens) within a block. Hotel was minimalistic. Gym was decent. Some staff were rude. You get a free breakfast muffin, which is a mini-muffin, but I guess you get what you pay for. I'd rather have a cheaper price than a substandard breakfast. They charge for any checkouts past 11 am, and you can't check in until 3.
Nothing The hotel on the internet stated resturant on site for a great dining experience. There were not restaurant on site. No room service. You had to order from near by restaurants and wait for a hour or more for delivery. It also stated it had a bar and you could enjoy your drinks on your balcony. Which was also a lie. They had a poolside bar which was close on rainy days which were 2 out of the 3 days we were there.
Hotel is clean and staff very helpful The hotel is fine for $130 per night, but given what they charge ($230 with resort fee included) it is by far the worst value for money deal that I've done in my whole life. Would prefer to pay $20 more and go to the Trump Resort which is 20 times better and only 2000 ft away...
They were booked out. We could not stay there. Very unfriendly.
Location is excellent with great access to public transport, shops, food / restaurants. The room and hotel is old but was clean and comfortable. If you are looking for a high end hotel this isn't for you. If you want value a great Base with clean accommodation you will love it. It can be busy at weekends with a lively local following
Was not hit with all the secret fees that Miami hotels are famous for. Honest, clean and consistent with what was promised.
The fact that is was one of the old hotels that we used to visit years ago and it hadn't been knocked down to build a high rise. They have a such an awesome location if they just took care of the place and made sure the guests were comfortable. We are pretty easy to please so this had to be bad if we left after the first night. We had intended to stay three nights. We left and went to another hotel. The rooms were so very dirty and uncomfortable. And there was construction going on everywhere with loud jackhammers early in the morning. We travel a lot and thought this would be a good value but we were very disappointed. We were up all night and when we asked for a refund they did not stand behind our satisfaction. Stay somewhere else this hotel is awful.
The hotel location is great. It is right on the beach in Sunny Isles, across the street from Publix. The hotel provides lounge chairs on the beach (though you have to pick them up and put them there yourself) and by the pool . The hotel is outdated. As long as you are not expecting a high end hotel and the price is reflective than it's okay. One thing I really did not like is at 5PM they collect all beach lounge chairs. Personally I like to stay out at the beach and was annoyed that I had to get of the chairs that early.
Staff is helpful Quiet area
Nothing Beds were very uncomfortable and we never had warm water water pressure was horrible and I found cockroaches in my room
good location. walls very thin; construction noise next door. wifi was spotty
The waterfront location is great and can't beat the price. The hotel itself is old and not lux at all, mostly families staying there. There's nice tiki huts you can rent on the sand and a restaurant with decent pizza and burgers and a small bar ($11 for 2 beers). It's ok as far as cleanliness but don't expect too much from the staff, it was hard to get extra towels. I was charged an extra $70 on top of my reservation for $12/day self parking, and a $13/day resort fee, and a $23 room upgrade for a kitchenette. I wouldn't have minded if it wasn't that we practically had to beg for extra towels and the pool was always so dirty I didn't want to let my 7 year old go in it.
Leaving. The lobby was fairly presentable. The maintenance man seemed nice. From the beginning, nothing matched our expectations. The place looks NOTHING like the picture above. The area is beautiful, the property's sign only has Days Inn visible so that we drove past it at first. When we finally made it into the "valet" stand" the person slouching there in uniform ignored us for five minutes even tho he was 3 feet away. When I finally lost patience and asked him for help he looked at me as if I had two heads. His colleague then showed up and together they explained that I needed to go to the front desk and check in first. I went inside and the clerk was on the phone berating a customer. When she eventually acknowledged my existence beyond rolling her eyes at the person she was speaking to. I went up to the room with my wife in the tiny elevator and the ancient stained carpet, dirty stained walls, sagging beds and moldy refrigerator were so repellent that we immediately asked for a refund. We got none. To add insult to injury, the valet refused to get our car, instead he just gave the key to my wife and then tried to prevent us from leaving. Our experience was horrible; the disgusting pigsty room, the vile, foul mannered, hostile staff, and the property's has the general ambience of a crime scene from a TV police show. Ick
Construction next door
Location The hard bed, tiny handheld showerhead, no main showerhead, the front desk would not let me check out late - I ran a marathon and would have loved to come back to the hotel and shower before my flight instead of having to wait until getting home. Rude staff - they knocked on my door early in the morning 1 day before my check out day and asked if I was checking out. Never will return!
The sense of continuity -- this is an old-school timeshare condo, in contrast to the giant glitzy high rises around it. Relaxing and unpretentious rather than glamorous. Surface parking instead of valet. Access to the gorgeous beach and a nice swimming pool. Grounds are nicely landscaped. A lot of businesses within easy walking distance, including restaurants, bakeries, drugstores, etc. Nicely equipped kitchen so you can actually buy groceries and eat there instead of going out all the time. Layout of the unit was a bit odd -- mainly, the bathroom was difficult to navigate since the door had less than an inch of clearance in front of the toilet, and there wasn't really enough room to hang up towels. Our coffeemaker blew up when we tried to use it, though the maintenance staff was very prompt in replacing it. The exterior trim of the buildings -- doors, windowframes, railings -- looks a little battered.
I was impressed rooms extremely ckean. Hotel personal very pleasant. Nice hotel for your money. Needs an updated ice machine does not look very clean and ice comes out watery.
The hotel is well located, but has an unpleasant odor. With some problems in the bathroom which were then fixing. On the other all right
Nothing It was a pimp hotel , drug house! They had about 5 pimps and hoes all night in the lobby the housekeepers are rude they barely clean and want you to leave the room so they can put the SAME sheets on the bed sweep and lift the toilet seat up so You think they did something NEVER AGIN
Olía a mariguana
El tamaño de las habitaciones, limpieza y comodidad de las camas. No controlan el fumado de marihuana en las habitaciones, al menos en el 6to piso. Desayuno poco suculento.
Decent wifi. Room was comfortable and quiet The room seemed a bit old. Could use refurbishment. The extractor in the bathroom wasn't working
Housekeeping was accommodating. Location/neighborhood. Safety is not on my list.
The breakfast wasn't too bad my kids enjoyed it. There were random people alway hanging around in the lobby and out in the parking lot. I'm assuming that they live there. Each morning it would smell like weed in the bathroom I don't know if the people next to me were smoking it or what.
It was located a few miles from my shool, which was a big plus for me. Parking lot in front of the hotel. That is about it. Internet service was very inconsistent and slow throughout my stay (and I stayed there for 5 days). Water pressure in the shower - weak, while the temperature of the water was flactuating during my shower. The sheets barely fit the bed and would consistently come out, which was annoying to me personally. Choice of TV channels is poor. No ESPN. The little fridge in the room barely keeps things cold. Cooler and ice did a better job for me. Bottom line is that it is a relatively cheap place to stay. A roof over yournhead and a bed to sleep on. That is it. And be ready to do a lot if sacrifices.
Smelled horrible. Grime on floors. Crackheads fighting in other rooms
The bed was very comfortable. The first night there I walked out of the elevator into a huge cloud of pot smoke and several highly intoxicated people running and yelling in the hallway. As my stay progressed I learned that those "guests" had actually been living there in the hotel for some time. The staff did nothing to take control of the situation. Furthermore, in the evenings, there were several people just hanging around outside the buildings... I felt very uncomfortable any time that I had to go out to my car or to dinner...
Rooms are very clean
For us this hotel was a splurge but it was really lovely. Staff was uniformly kind and attentive. Roof top pools on both buildings were nice. We frequented the main building roof top pool and the chaise lounges on the beach. Room was very nice for three close adult friends (two baths, two beds, one pull out couch). Complimentary 8 am roof top yoga on the main building was a special treat. Many thanks to Melody for the class (and a great restaurant recommendation). It is north if South Beach, if that is what you are looking for but a quick Uber, cab, or even rented city bicycles can get you there.
Our stay at the Grand Beach Hotel Surfside West was one of the nicest hotel experiences we have ever had. We were impressed with the lovely décor, the immaculate appearance of the lobby, the friendliness of the staff, and the size and amenities of our room. We were attending the Seidner-Sakin wedding and had booked through Bookings.com. There was a problem in the room with several reservations in regards to the type of beds that were being offered. We contacted the Hotel Manager, Andrew, and he straightened out the reservations in a professional and courteous manner. We also were given the use of the Grand Beach Hotel's beach and other facilities. The beach and the service of it's staff were helpful and attentive. We enjoyed several meals at the restaurant and found the food to be delicious and quite varied. We plan on returning for a vacation in the future and would highly recommend this hotel. We consider this a 5 out of 5 and a true find!
Hotel is in great location, right on beach. Rooms can be slightly jaded, but nothing serious. Bathroom excellent with good toiletries, and all rooms have at least coffee makers/fridge/microwave and also access to free washer/dryer facility.Stayed on 27th floor room with spectacular side ocean/bay/city views. Do not need a car as bus stops outside every 20 mins or so to take to South Beach/Downtown or Aventura Mall. Several restaurants within a few minutes walk, and recommend Timo's Italian (just past Denny's). Overall a second great stay at this quiet beach hotel. Doubletree sent a welcome email a week before the stay, which unfortunately was incorrect (had only reserved for 2 nights instead of 3) This was eventually sorted by booking.com, and our arrival at the hotel went without a hitch. If you get an email from the hotel just make sure it is correct.
I particularly liked the spacious suite, the unobtrusive atmosphere and the proximity to the beach
excellent location close to beach staff very helpful and friendly parking expensive as only valet available. rooms could do with a little maintenance work wouldn,t need a lot of money to be spent on them to take them from ok to very good but a pleasent stay.
Excellent location o the beach
The staff were very friendly and made every attempt to make me and my friends feel comfortable.
1. Location (pé na areia). 2. Excellent size bathroom. 3. Neutrogena products. 4. Lots of pillows. 5. Good convenience store in the basement. 6. Free internet in the business centre. 7. Free USA Today 1. Thousands of little ants over the sink table (in the 14th floor!!!). 2. Very dirty carpet close to the cooking area. 3. Fridge did nor work properly. 4. Air conditioning very noisy and difficult to regulate. 5. Little terrace very dirty. 6. Not enough hangers. 7. TV remote control did not work well. 8. Parking outreageously expensive. 9. Very small pool. 10. One day housekeeping came at 3 pm! 11. Very poor decor in the restaurant and terrace. 12. Very poor menu, very bad food. 12. All 7 daily rates debited to my AMEX 2 days before my arrival.
the friendly and helpful personell the restaurant part and the pool dont come up to expectations for a hotel at the self named "Riviera of Miami"
I liked alot of the view, the beach is calm,is very family...the facilyties like a supermarket,retaurants,pharmacie,etc...
Clean hotel, awesome staff and good breakfast, quiet and pleasant stay
Nice room and amenities. Laundry, breakfast, pool and lobby. Jewish observances. Housekeeping does not vacuum rooms. Hallways needed vacuuming too. Parking overpriced. Some road noise on outer rooms. Unless you are on the 4th floor premium level, low volume water from the shower head and extremely thin toilet paper.
The fact that it is beachside is a plus but you can't get to the beach unless you walk outside because the back door is blocked off It needs updating, everything feels nasty, paper thin walls! We asked to be put in another room because of people next to us smoking marijuana and wrestling and they said it was all booked but we saw thru windows where it wasn't. On the other side of us was a smoker who was coughing the entire night! And then we pay $12 extra for parking. Will never stay here again. It's much more I could say but I think that's enough
Right on a beach very old
Needs be torn down Great location.
Absolutely nothing. No air conditioning, ino ice, desk personnel Registered in two adjacent rooms, 239 and 240. Total 4 adults and one 2 year child. Air conditioning useless. No ice in ice machine. Water leaking at base of toilet. Solution was spread towels on floor until the proper wrench could be found on next day. After additional compaining, relocated to different room with fair air conditioning (room 259). Due to heat in second room, all 5 guests moved to the relocated room. Result 5 guests in one room and paid for 2 rooms. Relocated room, 259, had exposed and loose electrical outlet. High risk for 2 year old. Music played past 4:00 a.m. in adjacent guest room.
I liked the location, right on the beach. I did not like that they keep laying on fees in addition to what I paid online. i.e. a resort fee and a parking fee.
Nice staff, good breakfast and location (right by the beach). I sometimes stay at the Travelodge and this one was really disappointing compared to the others. TV not working; water leaking in the bathroom; no possibility to shut down the AC (ended up catching a cold); cleanliness of the room could be better.
