Vila Galé Rio De Janeiro

I had a delux room , I asked for a room with view to the inside yard and I got ! It was really a nice exprience in this hotel ! Thr pool wa clean and you have every thing what you need ! Very nice and friendly staff! Perfect breakfast !

I have stayed in many hotels in Rio from budget to 5 star..Most fall in to two categories.Cheap but very basic with refurbs done Pre 1980 or supposed lux that are often nothing more than tarted up flea pits. Vila Gale is like an oasis of comfort and value. The hotel is divided in to two sections .A historic old school conversion and a new tower connected by a large central courtyard swimming pool. My suggestion is stay in the historic section. Rooms are well designed in both sections even though the colour scheme is a little bland. The property is located close to Lapa and the famous arches and a ten minute walk to the subway that can take you to downtown (Historic Centro)or to the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema.This once dangerous area of Rio is now well policed and I did not witness any trouble but remember you are in Rio so keep your eyes open.Serious crime usually takes place in the favellas but do not display any signs of wealth. Breakfast is lovely ,excellent variety ,and good quality.

Breakfast staff are lovely and welcoming and make an effort to speak English The standard of reception staff is inconsistent. Some of the male staff are sometimes a little distant and incompetent.perhaps a little more training and better language skills. All staff need better training in regards to tourism. There is so much more to Rio than just the beaches ,sugar loaf mountain and Christ Redeemer as spectacular as they are

Large selection of food for breakfast, big comfortable beds, pool area very nice. The location at first seems a bit rough around the edges but after our first day we felt completely safe.

I have never experienced a slower check-in process!
