Ulemper: LATAM has a policy of locking its doors 35 minutes prior to departure
We showed up with 25 minutes left at gate and were denied accesses
If this is their policy it needs to be stated somewhere since every airline in the world is different
Fordele: Friendly crew and easy check-in. Comfy seats, and the entertainment was excellent. Food was top notch for a plane trip.
Ulemper: Another "nickel and dime" airline. Seat assignment and checked bag costs nearly as much as the flight.
Fordele: Wi-fi infotainment, electronic boarding passes
Ulemper: Horrible boarding process, not enough carry-on luggage space.
Ulemper: The lounge personnel were incredibly unfriendly and so was the crew. The seats were just regular coach seats with the middle seat being left empty. Old plane w/ seats that didn't recline. Food was bellow standard

Ulemper: Front desks need to improve their customer services skills. The employees who work at the front desk checking bages were very unfriendly. I don’t know if its because I am a foreigner. as soon as I approached the front desk they gave me attitude.

Ulemper: We buy $530 tickets for one way, and was horrible trip, we need to checkin in Miami and we need to bring the baggage far away to conect with united! And repeated the tsa and so tired!
Ulemper: We didn’t even make it on the flight because they overbooked the flight. Our flight was to take off at 7:30, we made it to the gate by 6:15 and were told that we had arrived too late for boarding the plane. Absolute nonsense.
Fordele: NO.
Ulemper: HAVE BUSINESS CATEGORY TO DOMESTIC FLYERS
Fordele: They offered umbrellas to get everyone off the plane in the pouring rain. That is a first for me
On time, but unexpected fee and aborted Landing
Fordele: I like that the check-in and boarding process was relatively smooth. Most of the staff at Quito Airport is friendly and accommodating. The waiting area was also very relaxing. The flight did have an aborted Landing, but it appears the flight crew handled it in a most expeditious and safe manner.
Ulemper: The airline hit us with an unexpected $20 bag check fee. It's not the worst thing, but I wish I would have known beforehand.

Fordele: Y no intentaron solucionarlo, me parece una falta de respeto y algo ilegal hacer eso. No se pueden sobrevender mas de 15 boletos. No nos dieron reembolso. Pero sobre todo tenía un viaje internacional y lo perdí, perdi más de 800 dólares por culpa de este pésimo servicio. Además el servicio y los aviones son pésimos. Las personas que atienden lo hacen de mala gana y muchas veces son groseros con los clientes. Ellos aviones son viejos e incómodos. No tienen ni tv.

Extremely long wait for checked baggage
Fordele: Friendly and profesional airplane staff.
Ulemper: Upon arrival to JFK , our flight landed at 9:20 PM. Due to a medical emergency we weren’t let out the plane immediately (understandable) Got to baggage claim alsmot 30 minutes later, baggage lane 1 was designated for our flight. After 10 minutes of waiting no bags came out. Without warning , the baggage claim was changed to lane 2 and everyone on the flight ran over. 10:30 pm half of the people on the flight were still waiting to retrieve their bags. The conveyor belts stopped and no bags were being put out. Airline reps stated there was only 1 person dealing with the bags, that either way we had to wait for our bags and nobody knew how long it would be.
11:21 pm ... our 2 checked bags finally came out.
Meanwhile, at least 4 other flights had arrived and delivered the checked bags for their corresponding passengers as we waited for about 2 hours.
Terrible customer service. No answers and no solutions to their “short staffing issues”
Worst airline in South America
Ulemper: Ticket counter people are unhelpful and rude. The insistence that I use the self serve kiosks even though I have been told by the airline to bypass as my ticket is messed up, is ridiculous and a waste of time. The flight attendants do nothing. Flight attendants don't stop passengers from non compliance with landing rules and regulations. Passengers take their seat belts off and rush towards the front of the plane before it is even parked at the gate. Boarding the plane is like getting on a third world chicken bus; departing is 5 times worse.
Same old LATAM
Fordele: Takes multiple explanations to get things done.
Ulemper: Staff seemed indifferent and only stuck to the script to handle issues. Plane seemed like it was in line for a refresh
Overbooked flight
Ulemper: They oversold the flight and we were kicked off it.
Gringo gouging for carry-on
Ulemper: After checking one bag, we were required to weigh our carry-on which both turned out to be slightly over-weight. We were required to pay an additional $50 in fees for the same luggage that wasn't a problem on the previous LATAM flight. The counter attendant was also the supervisor and she showed no flexibility or compassion. The flight was not full and we saw several Ecuadorans with carry-ons that appeared overweight. This seems like an obvious money grab applied to foreigners.
Fordele: The attendant at the airport let us know there was a discount to pre-pay for checked luggage on the return flight, which saved us $15.
Ulemper: No food
Ulemper: I was sitting next to a very large man who.took up 1/3 of my seat with his arm. I know weight is a sensitive subject, but I also have a right to solely occupy the seat I have purchased.
Fordele: Nothing
Ulemper: The seats are tight as hell and still have ashtrays on the arm rests. The flight was 6 hours delayed with barely any updates so we were just waiting around hoping the plane wouldn’t leave without us. When we asked flight attendants for assistance they barely helped and were so unapologetic about the insane delay. Worst flight ever.
BRING BACK OLD CUISINE THEN NEW ENTREE ONLY MEAL !!
Fordele: Like the new cuisine but they failed just served was MAIN ENTREE and a BROWNIE as a DESSERT not good at all they skipped on BREAD,BUTTER, SALAD,& A FRESH CAKE they opt out for a package dry brownie was not good at all, I RATHER HAD THE OLD VERSION OF CUISINE BACK WITH ALL MAIN PLATES. LATAM GREAT IDEA TO CHANGE YOUR SERVING CUISINE AND MENU BUT FAILED ON WHAT I MENTIONED BEFORE ☆☆ TO ☆☆☆ at most.

Ulemper: You get only SERVED ENTREE & 1 PACKAGE DRY BROWNIE-NO BUTTER,NO BREAD, NO SALAD, NO FRESH DESSERT
Ulemper: The new check-in process is frustrating. There are too many lines to stand in. They are now weighing carry-on bags. Mine was 1 kilo over their limit, and the agent wanted me to unpack my bag and put things in my checked luggage. It used to be a pleasant experience, but they are very officious and make passengers do silly and unnecessary procedures.

Fordele: Even though the flight was delayed due to the previous flight, boarding was a smooth process.
Ulemper: They serve dinner at 1:30am or in this case since the delay at 2:30am. They should be serving breakfast instead and let everyone sleep. Also the space between seats is super tight which makes the whole experience uncomfortable, even for an average size person. The planes are old and look refurbished. No personal TV’s offered to compensate for the lack of space.

Ulemper: Severe food infection.

Fordele: Nice crew. Overall efficiency. Great baggage service! But no drink, not even a small glass of water. They used to do a quick beverage service on this flight between UIO and CUE.
Ulemper: The Check in process is frustrating. I make this trip often and it was more efficient in previous years. But now you must stand in line to check in at a kiosk, then stand in another line to drop off a bag, then go to another counter to pay a bag fee, then return to claim documents! Latam could streamline this process by taking payments at the counter, as well as permitting check in at a kiosk using a combination of last name and identification, as JetBlue and other airlines do.
The current system requires the booking number, which takes a long time to find, even for Latam employees.

Expected more
Fordele: The flight departed and arrived on time. Crew was friendly and helpful.
Ulemper: Loosen up on the weight restriction, 2-3lbs is not a big deal especially if the passenger is paying for an additional bag that costs $150.00.

Awful experience ; what a nightmare
Fordele: The flight was to leave at 11pm, we began boarding at 11pm. Crew told us that there were issues with the plane maintenance that they were trying to fix...3 hours later at 2am, they let us know we would not be flying out and so we had to unboard the plans. They told us they would let us know what would happen and would help with hotel accommodations and transportation. At 5 am they finally provided a shuttle to take us to the airport. The following afternoon they informed us of our new flight. This was awful as we had a connecting flight and had tours and hotels booked for our vacation, that money is now lost and unable to be recuperated. Had the airline informed us of the changes and what time we would leave the next day, maybes i could have recovered some of the money lost. I called both the airline and tried to speak with reps in regardsa and no one was able to assist.
Ulemper: a one hour delay already haven boarded, screen for movies never worked, even after asking that they reset it
Dreadful food
Fordele: Flights were on time
Ulemper: Only a horrible muffin to eat, outdated planes with no in-flight entertainment, flight was crowded.
