Ulemper: Veg meal options
Ulemper: The seats provide very little space which is especially bad when traveling for many hours, the food options were quite bad, this is the only flight that i've been asked to take my headphones off during take off and 30 mins to an hour before landing and it makes no sense, the crew was quite rude and not helpful and overall the quality of the aircraft is quite dated and was left in a bit of disarray.
Fordele: The price was good
Ulemper: I had issues when I was checking in as the ground staff said my name in my reservation did not match the name in their system. This is a problem which they need to resolve internally as I wrote my name correct

Fordele: Everything was excellent - super friendly crew, nice seats and good entertainment, no complaints.

Ulemper: Flight attendants barely speaks English. Difficult communication. On the top of it, the PVG airport was closed and we had to land in Xiamen. They kept us 3hours inside the plain
Fordele: Nothing this was the worst flight I've ever been on.
Ulemper: The crew didn't have any control of the passengers and they let them do whatever they wanted.
Fordele: Food and drink was plentiful and good. Seats were roomier than expected.
Entertainment options were great.

Ulemper: The transfer waiting time is too long, 7-9 hours. The plane took off and landing were a little rough.
Ulemper: Different site next time
Ulemper: I've found China Eastern to be much better than adequate. I have yet to encounter any of the negative things pointed out in so many on- line reviews (though their website is deeply into the realm of dysfunctional). The planes are clean and new, flight attendants are austere but attentive.

Fordele: this leg of our trip was fine. it was average. our experienced was soured and biased by how badly China Eastern handles customer service before and after the flight
Ulemper: on the way back, they lost one of our bags. And we were completely left in the dark with the airline. Miraculously, the bag showed up 4 days later. But some information would have been good.
Ulemper: Serve water more frequently in between the 2 meals
Fordele: friendly helpful crew
Ulemper: They routed me Kota Kinabalu-Shanghai-Quingdao-San Francisco, yet could not check my luggage all the way nor issue boarding passes for all legs. Luckily I had 4 hrs transit in Shanghai, had to get 24hrs visa, claim my bag, recheck it to Quingdao and there recheck it to SFO. Quite an ordeal

Ulemper: Where do I begin...and what do I expect for a low cost carrier, right?
Fordele: Not very comfortable
Fordele: The crew was friendly, despite the language barrier.
Ulemper: The plane was so old it had ash trays in the armrests. No boarding announcements were made in English and the display board did not work, which made for a chaotic boarding
Fordele: Nothing. The crew did not let us board even though we were 15 minutes early to our gate and made us change flight.
Ulemper: Go by the time and not close gate before boarding time.
Fordele: It got me to my destination
Ulemper: The flight could have been on time. The crew was inconsistent with safety requirements asking me to put away my ipad but the passenger next to me was on her phone?
Ulemper: Airline service was bad.
Fordele: Take off was reasonably on time.
Ulemper: The plane was so old that is still had cigarette holders in the armrests. Exit row seats did not decline, which had for a back-aching 5 hour flight.
Ulemper: The flight was delayed for 1.5hrs out of Shanghai
Fordele: Front Business class cabin solitude only 2 rows.
Ulemper: Dirty seats and aircraft, Do not think it was even cleaned between flights. food was atrocious with no alternates. Crew allowed children to run around in upper business class, even during taxi, take off and landing.
Ulemper: We got problem when checking in, there was a group of people that didn’t allow us to do check in, and forced us to pay some amount to have another flight. Then we mis the flight. This could never happen to us or anyone but it did to me! We have to book new flight back to Bangkok. If Kayak authority see this message, please guide if we could have any compensation from missing the flight. We totally disappointed with Shanghai airport Thank you

Flight from Taipei to Shanghai
Fordele: The crew was nice and friendly. The flight was on schedule. Overall, it was a good experience. I definitely recommend checking in online before hand.
Ulemper: There weren’t individual entertainment screens, but it was a short flight so it wasn’t a big deal.
Terrible customer service
Fordele: They wouldn't allow me on my flight from Shanghai to Los Angeles one an a half hours before my flight because they said that the gate had closed an hour and a half before the flight was set to depart. And the flight was delayed for an hour total Garbage. They sent me to a hotel in Shanghai and said I was booked the following morning. When I arrived the next day they didn’t have any information about my situation and wanted to charge me for a new business class seat.

Fordele: Cleanliness, food, and service
Ulemper: boarding could be improved. Seat space very small when the person in front reclines. Almost impossible to eat your meal. Could use a few more hit movies.
The worst experience of my life
Fordele: I was treated horribly. This airline has no common decency or respect. Completely relived my honeymoon. You should stop working with this company immediately.
Ulemper: Everything !! The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced.
Ulemper: Plane is too small and bathrooms small chaotic bording

Ulemper: leg room was very poor.
Fordele: We got food (unexpected) and the seat was mildly comfortable. I don't feel like I can complain. The staff were nice and the trip relatively short. I liked it.
Ulemper: There was basically no entertainment. Only a small screen but I could not read the English subtitles and I could not hear the audio either. I brought my tablet, but the flight would have not been very tolerable without it.
Fordele: Clean plane, courteous attendants
Ulemper: The 45 minute bus ride from the gate to the aircraft.....
We made it!
Fordele: The staff were really kind and helpful. Very clean and offered a pillow and blanket.
Ulemper: Small plane, no entertainment. We were asleep and missed the food/ drink. The boarding was chaotic, they let us all get off a bus in the middle of the tarmac. Very disorganized. It was an experience haha.

This Airline Has Potential
Fordele: Crew are speedy, serious, efficient, friendly and professional
Ulemper: Breakfast was unhealthy- bread, muffin, crackers..,no nutritional value.
Great service - difficult technology
Fordele: The service was great, fast, kind. They were very accommodating.
Ulemper: It is a subsidiary of another airline, hard to check in online. Was all in Chinese, difficulty confirming flight after super typhoon.
Fordele: Nice new airframe, for what that's worth.
Ulemper: Food is horrible. It just is. Nothing enjoyable about it. Inedible. Legroom on absolute lowest end of what's tolerable for this duration.
No Vegetarian Options!
Fordele: Being fed twice was nice. Good selection of movies.
Ulemper: Food was not so good. Was no vegetarian option so pack ahead if you are vegetarian/vegan.
Shangai Airlines is a good but not excellent airlines.
Fordele: The crew was friendly. The Plane temperature was excellent. The boarding was peaceful and organized. The flight was smooth and The Pilots were helpful and friendly. The seating was comfortable on the plane.
Ulemper: The Plane was an older plane, and out of date. Limited food selection. Limited entertainment selection. There was not enough drink service. There was no way to carry your own water on board to keep yourself hydrated and the ability to get plenty just wasn't available.
OK but for boarding confusion
Ulemper: Two side by side gates. One was listed on upcoming flight board the other via verbal announcement. Above gate the flight was listed above gate but actually boarded from other one.
Ulemper: My flight was delyed i told the stewerdess to check what time we would land she said i would make it in time for connecting flight.
Convenient and fast airline
Fordele: I like that I was boarded quickly and taken care of.
Ulemper: I didn’t like the food or snack. Not my thing but I’m sure others like it.
Watch Out for Shanghai Airlines
Fordele: The China Eastern 777 out of LAX had good legroom. Overall a good experience.
Ulemper: The connecting flight on Shanghai Airlines 737 had terrible legroom and no in-flight entertainment. The flight was a 4 hour international leg. Hard on the body.

Passport Numbers Not Attached
Ulemper: Our passport numbers were not attached to the reservation and caused significant problems and we almost missed the flight.
Ulemper: connection via schanghai was terribly slow due to extra passport controll
Fordele: The business is great at affordable pricing. The food is good.
Ulemper: The food may need to improve with more choices. There is limit choice .
Ulemper: I had a problem with baggage. A well packed liter of olive oil had 3 different packing materials to protect it. I found a gaping hole in it. There was nothing sharp that could have caused it. Several things in addition to the suitcase were damaged.

Fordele: Brought me back safely
Ulemper: The flight got pushed back 6 hours! I almost missed the train to my hotel when I finally landed.
Fordele: Check-in and boarding were hassle-free and efficient. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Food was passable, and attendants were quick to refill water and other drinks.
