it is very stylishly decorated and an interesting old building with loads of character. The owner is extremely helpful and friendly. the parking is a bit of a problem because it's an old town with narrow streets, but there are a couple of spaces by the hotel and the owner does everything in his power to help!
Great view of old town Ragusa Ibra and mountains from the hotel windows! The hotel's American staff, Tony, was the great help for us as he speaks perfect English/Italian to solve our problems. The restaurant Locanda Don Seravino, which is about 10 min. walk from the hotel, was great, too! It is extremely hard to find the exact location of the hotel for us, the first-time visitor to the old city.
In-room guest facilities. Shower didn't appear to have been cleaned. Awkward room situation up a steep & narrow flight of flagstone stairs. Inconvenient hotel location for car access.
Bed comfortable, staff nice Trouble with hot water both night of stay and in the morning, difficulty to get to, room very small, air conditioning not working well (had to open windows so husband got mosquite bites), steep stairway to get up to room (although there was an alternate for easier exit to leave), poor lighting to read by.
very special and typical but poor situation in a narrow street
The stone interior was very nice, we liked that aspect the most. The woman who checked us in wasn't the friendliest and took her time with our passports which we didn't appreciate her hanging onto our legal documents for 4 hours or so.
the location of the hotel and the impression at the reception very beautiful. Breakfeast very good with home made cakes the room was a bit small, difficult to go to the safe box because of the table against the wardrobe. The nosie of the reception specailly in the morning. Receptionists speaking loud very early and because we were in room N03 just above the reception it was quite unpleasant. It would be great for some of the staf to speak a bit more of english for an hotel of this category (we are french).
Gianluc, the cheery owner, was extremely helpful and delightful. Our room which had a loft setup for the large, comfortable bed, was very spacious, though it could have used better reading lights. The dinners were very good. The common areas were very conducive to conversation with other guests, something we really enjoyed in this hospitable atmosphere. It was very hard to find, but once we got there, it was great. The breakfasts could have been a bit better organized and plentiful.
The hotel was very comfortable and the building itself is very interesting and historic. The staff were helpful and we enjoyed our stay. The reviews I had read about the hotel before going there really talked up the fact that it was a historic building and the rooms would reflect this. Our room was actually very normal and I felt disappointed by the lack of character.
Treated like royalty at this splendid, but intimate and charming hotel. This is the best overall hotel we have ever enjoyed,. The staff could not have been more courteous. You must dine in the hotel's lavishly decorated dining rooms. You will be specially cared for.
Both the location (across the beautiful church) and the interior are superb. The staff is very kind and helpful. A real quiet place to relax. Without a car, the hotel is a little far away from the dining area of the town. Although the quality of the breakfast is superb, I expect more than an American breakfast in a 5 stars hotel.
Good location. Convenient parking. Bad airco.
Francesca was a very good and helpful host. Our room was beautiful with good view of Ragusa Ibla. At the time we were staying, several rooms were undergoing renovation. We unfortunately were not informed by it and were woken up very early each morning. But despite that, the hotel made our stay in Ragusa wonderful.
None ! Booking changed by hotel at last minute due to refurbishment of hotel Del Lauro !! Put in sister hotel in inferior room. Were moved again 2nd day to Del Lauro - room not cleaned properly/damp and only people in hotel. So appalled that we moved after the second day - at great expense to ourselves and found alternative hotel in Taormina. Ragusa is industrial zone of Sicily and definately not for tourists. All cafes close at 8pm and as Del Lauro has no bar or restaurant it is extremely difficult to eat or spend any leisure time.
Beautiful room in a nice building with a nice interior, charming breakfast room. Despite a nice garden and an attractive swimming pool, the swimming pool was swarmed with pigeons that defaeceted in it...
Villa Del Lauro is an absolute oasis and well worth staying at if you're visiting Ragusa. We stayed for a few nights in July and practically had the place and the lovely garden to ourselves. Staff were very friendly and helpful with all our requests. Rooms are large, modern and really nice. The whole place is spectacular, much better than the pictures on the website. Go to the hotels own website!
The staff were charming and so helpful. The hotel was beautifully designed and very comfortable. It was a pity that there were plastic glasses for the juice at breakfast. Be careful not to get a room with no daylight
It is a beautiful and clean place. The stuff is very nice. Parking is usually available. The place is perfect to couples. The hotel is not very good for families with young children - there is no elevator, no bath (only shower) and the swimming pool is too cold.
Very nice hotel with excellent location for visits and yet a beautiful graden and swimming pool creating a distance from the city. Very nice and helpful staff. Ragusa is a beautiful city with a lot to visit and yet nearby the seaside, which is also convenient. We enjoyed our stay very much. The breakfast, which was offered in a beautiful ancient ball room of the hotel, was only available until 9h30m, which is a bit early when one is on holiday and don't want to rush out fist thing in the morning.
the lack of bilingual staff. very poor english, french or other languages.
Very modern hotel. Great room. Great swimming pool.
Calm place even if the first impression is not the best ,very helpful staff in restaurant-52 different botlles from Sicilly .Generally - good and light kitchen.Nice place The door are not enough soundproof
Comfortable and clean hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic pool. A bit noisy at nighttime.
Breakfast was great!
staff efficiency and politeness a more varied breakfast would be appreciated
helpful staff single rooms crammed onto the top floor, hardly any natural light
We found the hotel situated in a very good spot, on the main drag and convenient to restaurants in Ragusa and a pleasant walk down to the steps to descend to the old town of Ragusa Ibla. No all was good and the people were very friendly
A fantastic location in the old town, near to some good restaurants and the lovely gardens. A great place to be based and a very reasonably priced hotel.
Everything, except perhaps parking, which is a bit dicey (as elsewhere in Ibla).
great location next to a beautiful park, near the cathedrals, surrounded by gorgeous architecture
style and position
The patience and friendliness of the staff. The location and ambience of the hotel.
The hotel's location, cleanliness and value for money.
The lady at the desk was helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for her. The breakfast was outstanding and the hotel was perfectly situated.
The staff and localization were very good
Friendly stuff. Interior and the exterior of the hotel. Location. Very nice!
Great location, very friendly, helpful and accommodating staff. They anticipated the breakfast because we have to leave earlier, called the taxi and even re-confirmed it. There's no great view but the front yard is very relaxing full of nice flowers and chairs.
It appeared to be someone's home that we were ataying at rather than an impersonal hotel Finding it!! It was a nightmare and took us well over an hour. we were fortunate to run into the owner by a fluke, otherwise we could still be looking.
Paolo, the manager, was very nice, attentive and helpful. The room was very cozy, excellent position and quiet. Can't find a single thing that we did not like.
Fabulous, cosy, charming villa which has been restored with good taste. Excellent location. Very good service by the owner himself. And as Ragusa Ibla too was very charming too, we actually stayed there one extra night!
the bed was big! it was quiet! the breakfast was great!
At the hotel Kroma I mostly liked the friendliness of the staff and the room service, the room with airconditioning and plenty of space was very comfortable. The Hotel position in the city is also an advantage, whenever I go to Ragusa, I will certainly use Kroma Hotel and no other
Located close to the town center, but easy to access. Friendly and efficient staff.
hotel kroma is a classic and tradiditonal hotel, you get exactly what you get exactly what you can expect from a good hotel. everything is well organised, clean and the breakfast was good which is definitely rare in Italy. the rooms are quiet and well equipped. i was entirely satisfied my stay.
Breakfast was very good. Very Clean and friendly staff. Great location Bed was very hard.
The lady working at reception the day we arrived was lovely - extremely helpful and very eager to ensure we were comfortable. Convenient and well-priced restaurant just off from the lobby. Internet did not work in the rooms as advertised and a/c was not working when we arrived (very hot rooms - we couldn't breathe!), however the a/c was repaired later in the evening. Shower had to be held by hand as the wall fixture was broken.
Its in the centre of Ragusa. The mattress was too hard and not at all comfortable. The breakfast was very poor too.
Nice hotel, nothing too flash though.
I like hotel Kroma because the staff are very polite and the position of the hotel is very easy to reach, also garaging for cars is available.
Excellent Staff and easy to find.
Very pleasantly surprised by the spacious ambience, all comforts included. Excellently situated as a base for exploring nearby Ragusa, Modica, and the seaside town of Marina di Ragusa. The bar prices were rather high - especially in the case of beer, and spirits. One point to bring up re the fabulous pool - there is no handrail by the steps, and the circular steps going down are very difficult to make out, this in view of the fact that we were accompanied by our elderly parents!
Central location for visiting this part of sicily, very friendly staff, most quite and relaxing surroundings no
The buffet breakfast was absolutely awesome with a very large selection of fresh pastries, and with specialities changing each morning. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, and the structure is very pleasant. Wifi connection rate is a bit too expensive and swimming pool is only available till 18:30, but nothing preventing me to return to that hotel again
Room was great, good restaurant and fantastic views overlooking the valley of the temples. Free parking. Standard of English could have been a bit better, and lots of stairs/steps, so not easy if you have a suitcase with wheels. Not easy to find either.
We were able to have our cats join us in the room. Only the fact that there was no mini bar with water, juices and beer.
Clean, friendly and helpful staff Empty - no other guests so was soulless, location in middle of nowhere wasn't made clear
beatifull except attic rooms.very good breakfast and location Modica Alta. Attic rooms not so good than the others, but there are moderate.
The hotel and the staff exude class. A magic place to stay in a magic city and region of Sicily.
This was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Lovely building, beautifully furnished, outstanding customer care, choice of 2 excellent restaurants. They really make you feel wanted and in my view is incredible value for money. Nothing
The owners were very unfriendly and watched every move you made like you were thieves. Poor location. Far away from lower Modica . Not at all handicap friendly.
the staff was incredible helpful, the best of all our trip!!!!!
Very friendly and competent staff. We were given an upgrade in the annex and liked the room bery much indeed. The food in the restaurant in the annex was superb. Highly recommended
As luxurious as any Four Seasons, Park Hyatt or the Ritz Carlton in London but at a astonishingly low price (80 euros/night in August). The staff, the real distinguishing factor between a 4 and 5 star hotel, were more helpful than anyone could hope for. La Gazza Ladra was one of the most creative restaurants I have been to in italy and deserves its michelin star. Just know that the hotel is in the western part of town up the hill, so you definitely need a car or to get in early enough to get a taxi. That said, Patricia worked a miracle for me and got one of the La Gazza Ladra waiters to pick me up late at night.
Everything about the hotel was enjoyable: a beautiful old villa, welcoming and efficient staff and an equisite reataurant. If only there were more hotels like this!
