Outdoor rooftop hot tubs are incredible. Even on very cold days they continued to operate. Rooms are bright with many windows. Beds are very computable. Any of our requests for improvement were immediately dealt with. Coffee needs to be improved. We did ask for a coffee pot and was immediately supplied.
Location, staff, parking are very good. Great rooms and good italian food.
The lobby is nice! Comfortable bed For $312 CAD you get the equivalent of a Marriott Courtyard...except smaller. No view! It's misleading to list a bunch of amenities that aren't open yet. I was told I could walk to the hotel next door and use their gym. Huge disappointment!
The Moose is a new and beautiful property in an ideal location. Their rooftop spa and pool/jacuzzi facilities are ideal for accommodating a large group of travelers. Food in the Pacini restaurant is quite good and priced well for the area.
Room was clean and spacious, bed was comfortable. Good value for money. Excellent location and complimentary parking. We were in a room facing the lobby lounge and it was loud. Lots of foot traffic in the morning, screaming children etc.
Location, quiet,bar, atmosphere.
The restaurant in the lobby - "Ricky's" - is average at best. It's not the type of restaurant you would want international visitors to get an impression of Canadian food. A nice independently owned restaurant showcasing Canadian recipes and produce would be a much better option.
Restaurant hours were very poor. Room cleaning & refurbishing did not seem to be of importance. Food not worth charged price. Room not worth charged price.
The view from the window was fantastic and the room was nice and clean. Unreliable wifi
Location Staff. Basic room, no bathroom fan, poor views.
I liked how close the hotel was to downtown. the service was poor, the rooms were outdated, smelly and the carpet in the room was wet because the toilets were leaking.
- great location: The hotel is right on Banff ave. It is within easy walking distance of shopping and restaurants. - Busy hotel: Brewster tours run out of the lobby. If your room faces the front of the hotel it can be loud. - Lack of A/C can make the rooms hot in the summer.
Great loft room for family. Great location right in downtown. Staff is great. Beds and furniture is old and worn out. Everything is clean but needs a update.
Good price for off season and staff were pleasant and friendly. The beds were hard and small. The bedding seemed like more summer suitable rather than winter. Room temperature was difficult to control.
We really enjoyed our room, it was clean and quiet. The location was excellent, and the staff were very nice and helpfull. We look forward to staying there again. Thank you for the wonderful experience.
Leisure facilities were excellent. Comfy beds too. No free wi-fi. They charge $10-a-day.
The location, close to the Banff main street. The facilities need an upgrade, especially the bathrooms. They are really showing their age both in appearance and function. The hot tub and jacuzzi were tepid at best, and the pool was freezing.
Had a great stay, pool and hot tubs are phenomenal and rooms were great. Everyone friendly and accommodating. Charging for wifi is outdated and should be changed in my opinion. It is a common service for hotels to have free wifi nowadays. oh well.
Staff was friendly Needs a renovation
Very nice and clean room. Location fantastic. Resort town so all hotels are expensive. Didnt like being charged for parking or internet.
We really enjoyed our stay. The kids liked the pool and the breakfast buffet. The location is outstanding. We went ice skating on the river just behind the hotel and had a great brunch at Melissa's across the street.
Great location close to some of the tourist attractions in Banff. Very convenient walking distance to shopping and dozens of restaurants. Very nice staff. Parking garage was very convenient. Looked like an ideal facility for small conferences. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. Had wired internet in one wing -- speed 5Mb/1.5Mb. Nice shops downstairs off the lobby. It was a bit pricey in the high summer season, but so were many other things in Banff. Extra daily cost for wifi and underground parking. Hotel was mostly quiet, but a little noisy when trains came through, not awful. Room layout and some furnishings were dated (mixed ages/styles), but the room was reasonably comfortable. Maintenance of some plumbing fixtures was deficient (I have no clue why housekeeping staff coordinates so poorly with the maintenance crew in many hotels such as this). My rating would have been higher if staff had bothered to take just 15 seconds of screwdriver time on the shower handles. Front desk person was unaware of wired internet, "We don't have that!" But they do in one wing. Be aware that Banff town is a significant distance from the Icefields Parkway.
Location was amazing for walking to downtown. Pool area was beautiful. Only thing I could complain about was the carpet in the room. It was old and needed to be changed. Stuffed up my family.
Central location, friendly staff. Bed spreads near a serious cleaning, stains and frays are everywhere.
All around a pleasant experience
Great location. I read some reviews and thought the room wouldn't be that great but I booked it for location. The room I had was very nice and comfortable. I would stay here again. pool was also very nice. It would have been nice to have 2 chairs on the balcony.
I liked the location, the staff was friendly and the room was clean. The bus was able to pick me up at the door which was very convenient. The rooms had no a/c and the temperature was set pretty high when I arrived. I opened the windows and left them open till about 1am but the alley outside the window was very noisy with people drinking and smoking drugs so I had to close the window, then I woke up feeling horrible as the room was so hot you could barely breath. The next night was cooler outside so the temperature was much more comfortable, but a guy on a motorcycle showed up in the alley at midnight and started revving the engine, and talking with all the people in the alley. It's probably a much better place to stay when it's winter time.
-Ideal location in downtown, walking distance from restaurants and shops and trailheads -Decent continental breakfast -Good value for money -Accommodating staff -Our room smelled a bit of sweaty socks
Lodge was very clean and had only what you needed; no extra bells and whistles. Parking is horrendous. Had a Nissan Pathfinder which took 10 minutes to park in a little wee spot with many support columns surrounding the parkade. Would be easy to park a Ford Fiesta in. Also there is NO AIRCONDITIONING, only a fan provided by Brewsters. It was 27 in Banff on one day of our stay there and the room was overly hot and uncomfortable. No mini fridge to keep cold drinks in.
Noise across street. Late-night partiers
The room was a decent size and the staff were fairly friendly. The room we had was facing the back alley and every morning at 7am a delivery truck beeped and banged it's way around for 30 minutes making sure you couldn't go back to sleep.
We loved the proximity of shopping and leisure activities and that we could walk where we wanted to go. The room was perfect and cozy!! The breakfasts were terrific and the staff serving it were helpful and friendly!! Having to leave the friendly staff and beautiful room we had!!
Location was good I expected that there is basic amenities like refrigerator, air-conditioning, microwave considering cost and 3-star rating of facility. But nothing was there. They just put a table fan which was not very comfortable after full day's activities for a good night sleep for hot summer days. Floors were squeaky and making noise while walking. Parking was horrible, very narrow and it took lots of time and adjustments to safely park. Breakfast was okay. Nothing special.
Was within walked my distance of downtown Banff. Accommodating staff. No air conditioning and noisy outside with window open.
i really enjoyed the mountains. the beds were really comfortable the par that i didnt like was that we didnt have breakfast. i still appreciated the fact that we had a free breakfast
Rooms were clean. Very close to Banff center The need for a deposit for essentials. Didn't feel that was necessary .
Pool and hot tub area is clean and very relaxing. Continental breakfast was pathetic. Rooms were also very hot during the night.
Our stay was satisfactory. The hotel is run down and needs renovations - worn carpets, old paint, etc.
The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. We asked for extra coffee and we received it. Service was very good. The carpets did not look all that clean. Could use some brighting up. It is an older hotel but served our purpose.
Clean, spacious, and nicely furnished room and bathroom. Beautiful scenery (balcony a plus!). Convenient location. Decorative and welcoming lobby. Friendly staff. Reasonable rates. Underground parking. Relaxing atmosphere. Loved it! No microwave in the room, laundry facilities, or water fountain that I could find. No big deal but a microwave would have been a plus!
location is convenient -- 3-4 blocks to downtown shops and restaurants. free underground parking is included. free wifi is included. business center computer has a fee for everyone. in order to print boarding pass or other printout, you need to pay to use computer and printer in lobby
Location provides easy access to downtown. Parking was good but the automatic garage door opener was baffling. the dining facility is very good. I forget the name. Pricey. Rooms are small. Bathroom was small. I could hardly turn around. Motel is dated-needs an upgrade.
I enjoyed the quite modern and spacious rooms and clean, white bed linens. Also the facilities offered i.e. small fridge, extra table and chairs were useful. Not enough lights in the room.
Location was perfect for shuttle or walk to town. Quiet and clean!
Conveniently located, friendly staff, underground parking and complementary breakfast. Indoor swimming pool.
Convenient location. Fridge but no microwave. Breakfast was no longer complementary. The travel sized shampoos were half empty, and the bar of soap was used. Pretty sure someone was smoking in their room, maybe it's allowed, but was not something I appreciated.
I was not aware when booking the rooms that the prices were in US dollars, not Canadian. This could be made clearer on your web site.
Great place in prime location
The hotel is in a great location, it was only a block to the grocery store and two blocks to the downtown area. Buses pick up for the ski hills at the hotel next door. Breakfast in the morning was a great start to the day and the servers where very friendly and welcoming! Rooms were spacious and gVe us plenty of room to spread out. I would rec'd and stay again We lost power one day for 6 hours, and none of the facilities were working and our room was dark, would have been a non issue but that was our off ski day and we just wanted to relax around the hotel that day...
We loved our stay at Aspen. The hotel is in a great location, the breakfast is great too. We loved the homeade breads and granola. It was also nice to have a heated garage for our rental.
The hotel is very nicely renovated-lots of thought seems to have been put into the design. The courtyard with the pool and hot tub is tastefully done and very inviting. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were excellent and the breakfast was good. A great location for walking around the town. The light switches were a bit hard to find and the room was quite stuffy, very little air circulation. Fairly expensive, but it was high season and busy in Banff.
The hot tubs were amazing, however it would be nice if they were open 24hours. The breakfast bar was mediocre; there was one older waiter with gray hair who was very rude. Unforunately the horrible waiter definitely impacted our stay and left a bad last impression.
The outdoor hot tubs are amazing!!! The smaller hot tub needed the chemicals adjusted, your skin kinda stank when you got out.
The hotel is situated well in the town of Banff, facilities are nice and updated and the staff are very friendly. Nothing in particular
Loved the modern design and location. Rooms were very squishy. No room to move around.
Location was steps away from downtown Banff, it can barely be beaten. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. It was nice to have a great free breakfast in the morning before heading out for the day! The hot tubs in the courtyard were very convenient and had a relaxing atmosphere. I definitely recommend this hotel if you can get a deal! Nothing was really a deal breaker, however if you end up stuck in the room for any reason (sick, injured, etc.) the televisions are very dated, which surprised me compared to the rest of the hotel.
Check in and check out was a breeze. I booked this hotel for me and my family of 5. I payed $400 for 1 night for a room with sofa bed and king size bed with jacuzzi in the room. Friendly staff. Accomodation included a full breakfast. Free cofee is a thumbs up. Not much positive. As I walked in, I noticed that its outdated and lighting is dark and old. The hallway is tight for two people. Pool is outdated, small, boring, and water looks dirty. Parking height limit is only 5'9". Trucks don't fit. Jacuzzi tub in the room is not clean as I found lots of small little hair floating about when I filled it up. The jets have yellow dirt stain around them. The bed is uncomfortable because it's too soft and pillows are too soft and worn out. The sofa bed is even more uncomfortable because its outdated and worn out and too soft that provides no support. You can acually feel the springs on your back. I do not recommend you to stay here. It's not worth your buck for that price per night.
Location. The Movies on demand did not work. Our air conditioner did not work very well.
good breakfast and swimming pool for kids
Good location, protected car park, free WiFi, friendly staff. Indoor swimming pool. The breakfast room was too small for the size of the hotel. The breakfast restaurant was understaffed, but the staff was very friendly and tried to make the best out of it. The result were queues for the breakfast, missing food on the buffet, missing plates and cutlery. But apart from that, the breakfast was good.
The location was right in downtown Banff, and it was charming. We stayed in an old miners cabin. Definitely memorable. The host Pascal was fantastic. He made us breakfast and entertained us with tales of his ice climbing and cross country skiing. The room was really small but we liked it anyway because it was so charming.
Staffs were very kind and tried to recommend mustsee sites. Breakfast was fine. Too small space.
Staff is excellent. Very knowledgeable and willing to help with all questions that we have about the area. Very clean, very close to the center of the town Room is too small, The washroom toooo small! The hotel located near the night club and because of the noise we could not sleep till 4:00 am each night
Quaint, friendly place. Decorated and very unique. Was a very comfortable stay. Not many places to sit, but that's to be expected at a B&B.
This was the 4th hotel we stayed in during our holiday an it was the cleanest and most charming. The staff were friendly and helpful, turned us on to a local restaurant and baked fresh croissants as part of the complimentary breakfast.
The staff was charming and helpful. The dining room and the breakfast was above average. All the rooms are tiny, you need to climb over the bed to get to the other side of the room. From our room, we needed to go outdoors to get to the lobby.
construction but it wasn't too bad
the spa and the comphy bed, great sleep! nothing
The Ptarmigan Inn is located right in Downtown Banff within a block of the "Downtown strip" and has great underground parking so you don't have to really venture outside into any bad weather. What I was not impressed with and that was not on the travel web site when I selected my room is that a large number of their rooms have no external window and only look-out onto one of two interior courtyards. This can be ok if you are not on the main floor, but the room I received was a main-floor room and we could not keep our blinds open because of the constant stream of people walking by a few feet from our window. Another annoyance is that our room did not have ANY heating controls and was very warm. This must be a known issue with this room as the hotel also equipped it with a desk fan. This is NOT the kind of room I would expect from a hotel billing itself as a 3 or 4 star accommodation and charging $300+ for the night.
Location. Free parking Breakfast could be defined better by staff
Facilities and location to downtown..... The fact that my room heating wasn't working and they supplied me with a small room heater, after i asked to be moved...not very impressed.and because of the noise of the Heater fan all night did not get a good sleep.I'm not sure if i will use this place again nor recommend it because of this.......I will be attending a conference in Nov19th & 20th and i was looking at staying in the Ptarmingan Inn......??????/
Proximity to down town and the low cost. Did not have Tot Tub for relaxing after hikes up mountains
Great location. Very friendly staff. Underground parking was terrifying in my large SUV! Found street parking no problem however.
Great location - walk into town. Nice breakfast buffet. Employees friendly and helpful. The walls must be a little thin as the rooms tend to be on the noisy side. Not a huge deal as we would stay again.
Location is great and they have a bar/restaurant within the hotel. When we checked in we were upgraded from the standard room to the deluxe room. But in reality it felt like a downgrade!! Bathroom was not clean. There was dust and hair in the bathroom in some corners. The bath tub contained stains and was not properly cleaned. We thought of having a cup of coffee and we were dissapointed that the inside of the coffee maker was dusty, seems like nobody used it in a while. Just to draw comparison hotels like Extended Stay America are way better in cleanliness and cheaper. Unless u want to stay close to Banff I would never recommend this hotel.
Good location very friendly staff. The steam room was good bed was pretty good. I want to list more stuff but i cant think of anything else. The underground parking was great. Room was way to hot and was not able to cool it down, Went to have a dip in the hot tub.. and really it should be called a cold tub i have been in warmer pools. The breakfast was ok bacon was under cooked and was all stuck together. They need more fruit.
Construction of building right outside our window/balcony. Very loud. Bed uncomfortable. Went to check out and the guy at desk told us we didn't pay even though I had proof in an email. Told me it was never paid or registering in there computer. Had to go to visa to prove that I had paid. Close to all everything. Free parking. Breakfast was great.
Location. The room was below standard. There was dust on the rug behind the door, the drain was plugged in the bathroom tub, the shower fixture needs to be replaced. In my opinion, the hotel is showing it's age. Serious consideration should be given to a complete renovation. I have stayed here before but this time was disappointing.
Location right in middle of town, they were flexible with us leaving a day early. They put us in part of hotel without direct access lobby.
It's a great location, right in the middle of Banff Ave. Everything is very close. Shopping, candy store, resturatants, bars - perfect location if you are looking into staying I did not like how there were no fridges in the rooms - could use a modern update, harder beds as you literally sunk in the mattress and it formed around you - 0 for support.
Great city of Banff. Great location. Hotel is clean. Receptionist is very nice. Some of the carpet had stains. they need a carpet cleaning to remove the stains. but other than that. their rooms are attempting to be more modern like holiday inn express and other competitors.
This hotel offers the best location in downtown of Banff. Walking distance to shops, bars, restaurants and hiking trails. The room was decked out with beautiful woodwork and has great view . The beds and bedding were comfortable and room was clean. We would stay there again.
The beds It was noisy late into the night.
it was central very dated decor, the room was extermely small and smelled, as well all the lamps in the room were broken, furniture and walls scarred.
The quantness of the room and the friendly staff The loud kids room next door. Had to call the desk to have them talk to the room next door.
The location The outside street noise around this hotel was very loud at night. The hotel's windows were very poor and we could hear way too much.
My first room was too hot so I went to the front desk as was accomodated immediately without any issues.
Good location, comfortable rooms and nice hot tub. With the hotel being right downtown, there was quite a bit of noise at 2-3 a.m. in front of the hotel.
It was a wonderful hotel. Location was perfect. Only complaint is that it was loud at night. They do provide you with ear plugs and you definitely need it.
The location is great with clean, comfortable rooms. No fridge in room & pop in pop machine was warm. There was no 'do not disturb' placards in the room so was woken up by housekeeping my first day. They were eventually able to find one for me and then everything was great.
Cabin had all the amenities one would expect. Hostess was helpful and efficient. Location very convenient. Breakfast only offered if staying in main house.
The owner Karen is really lovely and helpful. She took time to help us best plan our time in the Banff area. She is also an incredible cook - the breakfast was delicious. The bed was a double - a little small for sharing a queen would have been nice but overall very comfy and cozy little cabin.
