This building has a beautiful old world feel atmosphere. Downtown Calgary feels like it has really died off with the current recession but you'd never notice once inside the hotel. Lots of happy and polite people everywhere. We will definatly return. We requested a newspaper in the morning but it didn't arrive for our two day stay.
Being downtown in Calgary, the convenience of the hotel, and the overall experience. I called in my request to have my car brought up 15 minutes before and did not have my car when I arrived nor did it appear that it was handled properly.
Appreciated the upgrade.
Pool and steamroom Clean rooms dog friendly small rooms
its unfortunate that there is nothing to be liked in this so called 4star hotel. Typically I hate to complain but due to the experience, I feel I should provide my review. It was a five nights stay. Really slow slow shower. Bed linens, towels, sheets were not set well. There was a odor in the room. Coffee machine was not working. Power outlet was not working. TV channels were working intermittently and didnt even have the basic channels to view. Inspite of asking a few times to provide drinking water - there was no response from the staff. I wonder how do hotels like these get a 4 star rating. Internet, breakfast, TV channels are not part of the price.
The hotel was very quaint and kept much of it's rustic charm. It was clean and quiet. The staff were kind and courteous. I was disappointed that the only rooms that had WiFi access were on the gold floors. I was offered to upgrade to the gold floor for an additional $100. The receptionist failed to mention the price was per night. A nice little sticker shock. Also I find it odd that a hotel the caliber of the Palliser would not offer WiFi
Prompt service, excellent food, great staff, great exercise facilities, great location Bathroom had unpleasant "sewer" like odour
Staff was very helpful The room was clean and very spacious Ther was access to other venues without going outside The added costs, the water, the internet, etc.
It was a very charming hotel with staff that helped me on several occasions - opening luggage lock, assisting me when I left my key in the room, finding places in the city, friendly in the lounge and dining room. Everything was completely satisfactory.
The room was more spacious than expected, very clean and very comfortable. We were on the 11th floor, so it was very quiet. Loved the super fast elevators. The front door staff were very quick and keen. Check in and check out was a dream. You really beat my expectations.
Have always liked the Fairmont. Located close to shops and downtown entertainment. Bed was a little soft. Rates can be high for some of the rooms.
Very comfy beds. Friendly staff
The hotel was attached to the venue for the convention I was attending so it was very convenient. Hotel staff was very accommodating, and location was withing walking distance to restaurants, shopping etc. I will stay there again when I am in Calgary.
friendly staff lack of hot water
starbucks is handy, doormen/valet were excellent. Place is very clean and staff were friendly. food at lounge qiuite pricey
The bathroom door it slides open and shut. Not very private
The staff gave me great information about the city and I have the best view of the city from 19th floor!!! Nothing
Good central location The hotel in general and rooms specifically were very hot and very dry, I felt like I was going to get a node bleed and needed to go outside for relief - drank a lot of water and had to buy chapstick. They need to get some humidifiers to add moisture to the air.
We found the room service on request provided quick and helpful service The room did not have bath robes or a shower mat for the bath or floor,
No comment 1) The rate was very high as compared to other bitter hotels in the same location. 2) no breakfast 3) local call charge are high 4) international call charge was very expensive.
The breakfast buffet.
The staff was very nice & helpful including at the bar. Lovely art but need more. The room & bathroom were spa like and the Yellow Door bar & bistro was elegant. Nice Lobby, too. The valet guys were trying to rip us off on prices to park. The front counter said it was $20 but they told us $30.the WiFi said it was insecure so I reported that.
I was with my best friend and we made the best of it. Even though we had terrible service. I felt that the some of the staff was rude. Mainly on the girl that I talked to on the phone that they charged me $18 for parking when it should have been $10 which she refunded me for. But she was extremely rude. Just cause of her I would never stay at your hotel again nor would I tell other people to stay there. I wanted to have a great hotel stay with my best friend and just from her it was ruined.
Unbelieveable view. Also upon booking, I requested a top view and I got it all. loved how clean the rooms were etc. Nothing
Lots going on, close to lots of good calgary spots. Great restaurants as well as pool side lounge.
Great location, friendly staff, good valet parking, excellent food in room service, interestingly different decor, comfortable bed, good sized room, excellent tv(but see below in adverse comments),very good shower. The artsy sink in the bathroom was too small for the powerful faucet and wet both my wife and I on separate occasions. There was no shaving/make up mirror. The heating system was extremely noisy but effective (it was -22c during our stay). The room lighting was too dim. The lovely wall mounted plasma tv was hobbled by a stretched low def picture(we could not alter the aspect ratio) and we were unable to get ppv movies due to severe picture distortion. The hotel service engineer responded very promptly , he was extremely pleasant but unable to fix the problem which originated at the media server ,not the tv itself .
Clean, modern, lots of electrical outlets in the room. Shouldn't be charged for WiFi in the room. Also, the air conditioner (heater) was loud.
