perfect location, beautiful hotel
The room was decorated beautifully in the french country style. The front desk was very helpful and the entire experience was very lovely.
The position inside the citadel, the Barbican restaurant was fabulous, the grounds were lovely. You really could make a lot more noise about the position. The hotel is simply unmatched in the area. The shower over the bath was a problem, the glass panel was not sufficient to cope with the water pressure so it was very easy to flood the bathroom. They should sort that out.
The atmosphere and the cleanliness.
We were so welcomed & so well received that we immediately felt at home - it was a magical stay & we enjoyed every aspect of the Hotel & it's magnificent integral part of romantic Carcassonne. We could not fault anything - except perhaps the fact that massages were not available on Sun & Mon just over our stay.
Excellent restaurant - we ate there on two occasions. Beautiful situation, lovely room, friendly staff. No
The staff. The restaurant- Le Barbecane. The location
Perfect location. Hotel staff pick you up from designated car park outside city wall. Well appointed hotel with restaurant and swimming pool and garden. Courteous and helpful staff. Even acknowledging the quality of the hotel and its locaition I still consider it very expensive. Also, and this is hardly the hotel's fault, the exclusive promise of the hotel is somewhat marred by the sheer crowds of people visiting Carcassonne.
Hotel de la Cite is beautiful and the city itsfelf is breathtaking. Only one complaint - no a la carte breakfast and the standard breakfast for one person is 29 e or about $40! Only want a croissant and a cup of coffee? Still $40! An equivalent breakfast can be had in local cafe for one third of this price. So stay at the hotel de la Cite - just don't eat there.
solicitous staff .... every detail considered, every comfort covered. grand hotel in the early 20th century tradition, elegant restaurant w/ elaborate service, though a bistro also available on the premises. Reflects & enhances the atmosphere of Carcassonne. None of this comes cheap, of course. Only comparable hotel we've stayed at is the Spanish parador in Santiago de Compestila. Most parking is between the walls of the Cite, a brisk hike to the hotel. The hotel provides a livery car & driver to get you to & from the parking area.
Good location on the banks of River Aude with good views of the old Citie from the "panoramic rooms".
Good location between old and new city. Good scenic views if you pay a little extra The shower had no high position so you had to sit or kneel, or hold the shower head
location, breakfast Could do with a spring clean in the public areas (room was good)
it has a very nice location, facing the old city, and is about 10 minutes easy walking distance.
View of castle Reception staff unresponsive to internet access problem.
The location was very nice, the view of the walled city excellent. Our rooms were on the same floor as the restaurant.
Clean, stylish room. Confusion when checking out. Staff not fully informed. Fifteen minutes to settle bill.
Perfect location by the river, at the foot of the old bridge so close to both the old town and the new town . Some good restaurants in both the old and new town and the hotel's own restaurant was excellent. The panoramic rooms had lovely views and well worth paying the extra.
excellent food Decor poor and needed updating
The location of the hotel was superb - it could not have been better. Our particular room had a separate bathroom and toilet, the latter being extremely small. It would have been better had the two been combined.
Too noisy too early in the morning esp.cleaning staff
Superb location near main entrance to citadel. Value for money Rooms too small
I liked its proximity to the Cite - the old walled castle - and the deck outside the room which, alas, I didn't have an opportunity to use. I found the bathroom very constricted in space - anyone bulkier than me might have difficulty moving around in it. But it is, after all, only 2 stars.
I thought the hotel had a nice view of the castle and staff were friendly. I was disappointed we weren't notified about the pool/jacuzzi facility being closed prior to our stay. Also I was unable to access the wireless system which was supposed to be available around the hotel. The member of staff did not know what the network name was and I was unable to detect any wireless from my room.
staff where quick to react to the fact we had a baby and immediatly chnaged our room to give us more sace for our travel cot, without being asked! They also were very accomodating of our need to use the microwave to sterilise our bottles. I wasn't bowled over by the modern look of the refurbished hall. I'd recommend the traditional rooms better.
The view from the breakfast room was unbelievable. Looking out on the old Cite walls and towers..Nice clean facilities and great parking accomodations. Very helpful and friendly staff. PS:Thank you Rick Steves!!
The location was perfect and lived upto the on line details of the hotel. It would have been good to have had a restaurant at the hotel. Thought the room was a little small and access to a terrace out side the room would have made it better
Friendly staff, location, swimming pool, breakfast Rooms are small
good location comfortable hotel beware of the barking dog in the next door neighbour's yard - its bark is incessant at night
Great location, clean rooms. The room we booked was too small.
The excellent, helpful and kind staff in Reception who did everything they could to help us when our Ryanair flight home was cancelled We would have liked to have tea and coffee making facilities in our bedroom, as we have come to expect when paying this kind of price at home and abroad
Fantastic location right by the castle walls so only 2 min walk to the old city of Carcassone. Lovely and comfortable boutique hotel with great views of the old medieval city. Private parking. Our room was quite small and dark. We also experienced the noise of the laundry service van at 5pm as the couple from Ireland!
everything......... just great......including Cherise the dog......
Great location for visiting Carcassone castle. Very modern, clean room. Room was extremely small, only glass separation between bedroom and bathroom - only limited privacy.
location At approximatly 5am the laundry service van arrived outside our bedroom window. The clatter of the trollies(10) on the cobblestone path outside our room would wake the dead. We complained to management and they offered us coffee to make sure we were fully awake!!
Good reception on arrrival & departure. Staff were generally very helpful, breakfast was good. I felt tea/coffee facility should have been made available in the room, especially for visitors using the weekend for sightseeing..
The location to medieval Carcassone was great, secure private parking ,very nice staff, and the house cat and two dogs add a home touch.
Location is fantastic, literally just outside the Cite. Gorgeous views from our room. No complaints
The bed was extremely comfortable, nice to have two sinks and the lighting in the room was great to read with. The most perfect thing for us was being just across the street from the Medevil city. Locked parking was another special feature
very private rooms; excellent location across the street from the old city; comfortable bed room was quite dark and a bit small
Our room (No1) the basic double. It was newly refurbished with modern high spec furniture, bathroom, TV etc No evening meals available
Good service, good food, relaxing atmosphere.
Everything, from the rooms, peace and quiet, to the excellent dinner.
Great location and facilities - beautiful surroundings - hotel and rooms nice but getting a bit tired. Very poor value for money - bit snooty service and extortionate charges at times (€20 for a kir royal on the terrace, €150 for room service for my boys to get chicken and chips, a salad and a dessert each !!)
nice grounds, good bathroom much too far from town. left aftewr one day and they insiisted on charging for all four booked despite plenty of notice
Beautiful facilities and very kind staff
The staff were very helpful and the restaurant was also excellent.
Comfortable with rather large rooms and a very good and quiet location outside the city.
Everything about the hotel was excellent except the price of breakfast! The hotel is outstanding, in a lovely setting, and we were particularly taken with the excellent tennis, golf and swimming facilities. Although the 'gastronomic' restaurant is expensive, there is a reasonably priced 'bistrot' as well, which we were very happy with. The price of breakfast was unreasonably high and we decided to miss it during our stay.
Very high standard relais, the setting is terrific, staff extremely attentive, the menu and presentation is good, restaurant is on the terrace - very relaxing. We really enloyed the mixture of formality and informality at dinner - the staff were informal the guests dressed as they wished! Fun for people watching if there is an extended French family or two staying at the same time. It is complicated to find, so call the hotel first and don't trust your sat-nav.
My nine year son left his camera in our room. The lady cleaning the room found it, front desk phoned me and a lovely lady delivered it to us at the airport. The honesty, friendliness and efficiency of this kind deed really impressed me and I shall recommend this hotel to all my friends. What we also loved was the way breakfast was served on the beautiful terrace in the lovely dishes, again by very friendly staff. Thanks again for a lovely stay
the staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good value for money. The bar area in the evening was pleasant. Good view from the room. The roadside signs should say both 'Brit Hotel' and 'Bosquet'.
The hotel has an good resturant, and the room had a quiet air conditioning unit so we were able to leave it on all night The room was a bit cramped with a double and single bed in it
1.The bed. I've stayed here twice, and the beds are very comfortable, better than most hotels. 2. There's a kettle in the room so an evening hot drink possible. 3. The price - staying in November I paid less than €70 for dinner bed and breakfast. 4. The location just off the main road - easy to find and very useful for a break en route. It is very much in need of redecoration. The bedroom I slept in the second time had a very noisy machine of some sort just outside (Room 14 - avoid if you can). The rooms are small - as a sole traveller for one night not a problem, but I was in a room meant for up to 3. The bedroom doors are very heavy and difficult to open. The lighting in the rooms is average hotel , which means it's not really adequate, but manageable.
The restaurant was good and reasonable priced the rooms were very clean and the staff very helpful.
hotel is near to the motorway and very handy to visit the town. Our double room are small but confortable hotel staff speak only French language
Staff very friendly with a relaxed family atmosphere. Food excellent particularly for dinner. Bed was fine for a short stay but a bit too much of a camp bed,
Pleasant and helpful staff. Very good restaurant. Large room. Comfortable bed. Easy to find and near La Cite
It was quiet - I choose it for the location but I was fooled by your description of how far away it was from the attractions - I say to recommend below, but only for drivers. The fact that I was missled about the distance from the Cite and from the Ville Basse That made me very annoyed. I have a difficulty walking and had to walk a lot
Good hotel close to the Cite ( 15 mins walk). Very helpful staff.
The Hotel stated that it was a stones throw from the city walls, this must have been by catapult, as it was a 25 minute walk to the old City.
Friendly staff Check out time was too early at 10.00 and it was not as close to the town of Carcasonne as the advert said
Excellent, practical location with secure parking on the edge of the city, good value TV reception good be improved
Staff were very friendly and helpful
Easy walk into town. Small shops close by. Near to several nice restaurants. Quiet Hotel. Objects missing from the room such as coffee maker, cups, spoons. Although this was quickly rectified by the receptionist. The shower leaked and the toilet seat was extremely loose and wobbly. No balcony.
Not very much most things
Very convinient for our needs No
The pool No breakfast on Sunday could be a bit boring for people when there is no cafe nearby, although there are cooking/coffee making facilities in the room.
Our primary reason for our visit was to visit the Cité which we thoroughly enjoyed. We are a British couple who now live in the Charente Maritime and were accompanied with another Brit who has lived in Canada for the past 30 years. It was her first visit to France! The suite was comfortable and very clean....the only thing we missed was a toaster, we managed using the frying pan with no fat in it. It worked well. Our 4th traveller was sick and unable to travel from Canada.
Impressive period hotel.Well restored.Dining facilities limited but food and service good.Situation pleasant near railway station and canal and within a good walk of the cite.
fabulous location and view of le cite staff made no attempt to understand foreigners even if they were trying to speak french
Location in the centre of town is convenient for a lot of things and the staff were pleasant and helpful Breakfast should be included in the tariff- it was the last time we stayed at the hoteland also to charge for car parking was not acceptable when there was no charge previously
Lovely old style hotel evocative of a previous era. Well located. Helpful staff.
the location the service at breakfast was appalling
We were given a twin-bedded rather than a double room. The beds were very uncomfortable, the pillows were tiny and useless.
A large hotel that flattered to deceive. The accomodation was adequate, however, the bedroom accomodation was basic, no fridge or provision of hot drinks,as say in a Best Western Hotel.
Good restaurant and whilst an old hotel it was generally well maintained Just a minor gripe. When you serve a meal and are asked for condiments it would be nice not to have ask two more times and not to have delivered when the meal is over. Never the less a good meal.
Shower has mold and very old. Cracks on walls and ceiling...
The room was a lot bigger than we expected,it could have done with a couch.Apart from that everything was excellent.
convenient location, close to station. Shabby appearance and atmosphere.
The Hotel facilities were adequate . It was very central within walking distance of the Mediavel City j.
Bed was ok, room was a good size. No bath, Small television, no fridge. Very basic for the price I paid.
To be honest my partner and i were very disappointed with the Hotel. The room was dark, the shower was very old, infact the room, and the hotel are in my opinion ready for a complete refirbishment. We stayed in a Hotel very close a couple of days earlier.the price was the same however there was no comparison in comfort and facilities, the other Hotel was by far superior.
Its location was excellent - very convenient for the city centre, the railway station and the bus to/from the airport.
The best thing is location to the railway station and access to airport shuttle bus. INTERNAL room and wet room with opaque glazed windows which did not open
It was central to our needs, travel etc. It was clean, the staff were exremely helpful. The hotel represented good value for money and the bed was comfortable. We would be happy to stay at Hotel Bristol on any subsequent visit to the region The hotel lacked a bar. This is not a complaint, it is a comment and the parking was limited. Again we benefitted and coped but the parking was restrictive.
You really need a car if you are going to stay at this hotel.
Domaine De Marseillens was stunning and Serge and Muryel welcomed us into their home as friends and not as paying guests. Our room was comfortable, spacious and beautifully decorated in keeping with the building which was an old winery . Breakfast was a work of art with fresh produce every morning and the table decorations changed on a daily basis. We all sat at the one long table and conversation with other guests from other countries was very interesting! The property is quite a bit out of Carcassone and you need to take a taxi into the city at 14-20 euros each time. The bus runs only at school times.
The owners of this small hotel are fabulous nothing is too much trouble.Wonderful place to base yourselves in this region, but need a car to get around as limited tours after summer.
Ann and I were welcomed by Muryel and Serge and given great advice about local trips and restaurants. The room was very stylish and the breakfast was delicious!
When I asked the owner to book a taxi to Le Cite he drove us there himself. Very friendly and helpful.
The location was excellent
I thought that the staff on reception were always very helpful, the location was good a few moments from the cite, the room was clean & comfortable although rather small, the hotel provided water for sale to the guests at the same price as the local shop. The breakfast provided at the hotel was extremely poor for the price that we were charged, it was the worst breakfast we have ever had . The hotel didn't have a hairdryer in the room, nor did it have a lift, I found it difficult to climb the two flights of stairs to our room.
Clean & functional rooms. Friendly and accommodating staff who could offer helpful recommendations (E.g where to eat for dinner) No real luxuries, but at the price, I wasn't expecting any!
Location . Rooms very clean although bath towels grey and frayed. Very good staff, polite and helpful Price of break fast why would you pay 10 euros when patisserie over the road was a small fraction of the price
The location to both the Castle and the city was great. Short walk into the city was charming. Great location. Very small room although comfortable and clean.
Comfortable bed.Receptionist always greeted guests with a smile &extremely helptul.
Perfect location for the medieval city The rain - for 2 full days
Hotel was located outside the medieval walls, about a 5 minute walk to the main gate. Having a baby and luggage to stroll with, it was the better place to stay than in the medieval walls because of the cobble stoned roads. Rooms were clean and it had a good shower. Room was a bit on the small side though, since we had to use a baby cot. Nice hotel overall.
It was convenient to the Cite and easy walking distance to the town. Nice atmosphere and clean. Breakfast was very acceptable.
Excellent position near to the Cite; very quiet; very clean; reception staff very helpful. Excellent supermarket next to hotel. The bath/shower was very slippery underfoot; the shower curtain did not fit and water went over the floor. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room would have been good.
