The check-in folks were friendly. Your description of having rooms on the bay side or a 'view of the city' was very deceiving. The view of the city was a view of interstate 880, and was incredibly noisy since you're located right on the edge of the interstate. It was the noisiest room I have ever stayed in, and there was no way to get any sleep. The rugs were not clean, and the plumbing in the room was poor.
The hotel was very clean with friendly staff. The atmosphere felt comfortable and safe. No complaints at all.
The staff was pleasant and the shuttle service was a nice convenience. Initial room assigned was already occupied. Hallways had an unpleasant odor. Building, rooms and furnishings all seemed in need of updating.

Staff was AMAZING. They bent over backwards to help me. They had free shuttle service to Downtown Oakland! Place was clean with delicious, free breakfast. Hands down, though, it was staff that made this place excellent! Nothing. I will stay here again. Best hotel in Oakland!
EVERYTHING! The customer service was outstanding, the rooms were large and very clean. Awesome location (it's worth the extra $ to have a water view room). I liked that they offer a free shuttle to Jack London Square. Parking at this hotel is FREE (unlike some other hotels nearby). The pool and bar is really nice, too. There wasn't anything I disliked about this hotel. I will definitely stay if I'm in the area again.

Great experience! Hotel was clean and well-kept. Rooms were very comfortable. Rooms facing the water were extremely quiet at night. A relief after staying at other hotels in Oakland with lots of street noise. Also a delight to look out at the water in the morning. Beds and desks were comfortable. Staff was generally very helpful. A couple times staff were curt, seemed irritated at doing their jobs. Also, they changed their shuttle service to only pick up and drop off at four locations, instead of anywhere within a three mile radius. The shuttle was still extremely helpful, and this wasn't that big of a deal, but it should have been properly advertised on their website ahead of time.

convenient location to business in Berkeley and Oakland areas and easy on/off I-880 to get to airport. Staff was friendly. Large rooms and baths. Nice amenities. Gritty neighborhood that is trying to transition to be more upscale but it is hard to navigate, there's a lot of trash around and in the water. My room's view was of a forlorn half-sunk sailboat and a wall of graffiti.
I liked the views of the water. The gym was cool. Staff was great. Breakfast was nice. Rooms were spacious. Bathroom was lovely. Parking was easy. There was a very weird smell to the rooms. I went into my first room and asked to be moved and then upon entrance into second room on opposite side I realized they all smell lol. Weird we paid more for the best western over the executive suites their sister property but the sister property actually had the pool and hot tub and bar so had to walk over there. Still very close though. Someone had left a jacket in the closet and I guess the maids missed it. Pricey.
Breakfast was good with decent variety of foods. The week day front desk staff not helpful or friendly.

We asked for ice and got it right away. The bed was comfortable. The walls and floors were so poorly sound insulated that we felt we were living WITH the people next door. We heard every word, every TV program, and every time they flushed their toilet or showered. Luckily, most people were quiet after 10:30 PM. Lastly, for the price we would have expected rooms to be upgraded instead of plastic showers and routine accommodations. Maybe if we had a quieter room, the other elements would not be so troublesome. However, we didn't.
The staff was almost perfect. The front counter attendant was super friendly, courteous, and quick to check us in. His name was John and definitely was great. The location makes travelling to San Francisco fairly easy by car (25 minutes until downtown). The lake nearby (1-2 blocks) is very nice. The area doesn't feel ghetto, but definitely not super classy. There is graffiti/mural on the building behind the motel and it was so insanely gorgeous (my bathroom window had the perfect view of it). The place looks fairly maintained externally. Some Mexican guests next to us decided to blast some Mariachi/Folk Music at 2:30AM outside their room on an external speaker sitting in front of their room door for who knows what reason and we had to call the front desk and they handled the situation, but then our rude neighbors decided it'd be quieter to bring their speaker inside which made it even worse so after a second call the staff came to the room and told them in person to stop and then it was quiet. Situation was resolved in about 10 minutes in total. The paint is clean and doesn't look old and the outside of the building and parking lot also looked very clean. The staircases need some lights, both the adults (Sister and I) missed the last step coming down and luckily we didn't fall and just tripped. The bedroom we first got had hair on the sheets (I didn't personally see, but my sister had changed the room while I unloaded car and had a smoke). Our new room had used tissues in the drawer of the dresser. We had 2 Towels, 2 Washrags and 2 Hand towels for a 2 Double bed bedroom and it would definitely go a long way to do more washrags at minimum (I don't mind reusing towels, but not washrags and no washrag for face if you decide to shower). The floor had what looks like animal hair. So definitely if I had advice to this place, put out a ton of safety strips on the steps and lighting. Also, either fire your cleaning staff and hire some new ones, or start checking rooms they sign off on because they are not doing their job. Also, I would strongly suggest an enforced quiet time of 11PM weekdays and 12AM weekends and put a 1 warning policy before you kick people out. There are just some really small changes that would go a long long long way in improving the overall value in staying here. I didn't bother with the breakfast they offered (didn't even go in to look), but I heard it was pretty much slim offerings so a small variety increase would go a long way too.

Relatively clean rooms, usual provisions (minus a coffee maker) Phone didn't work so couldn't call to tell them that the WiFi cut out every few seconds--when you're on business and have trouble accessing the internet while away, makes for an aggravating stay; shower didn't drain, so filled up with water; evening check-in staff were courteous but day check-out staff couldn't be bothered; ad said HBO---no HBO; people hanging out outside their rooms at night talking at the top of the lungs--good thing I brought ear plugs; Poor and not totally safe neighborhood---didn't leave room at all after getting back from being out
The location. The staff was incredible unprofessional and rude and there were bugs in the room and on the towels. Definitely will never stay here again.

Poor and not totally safe neighborhood. At the motel many occupants were outside their rooms screaming and drinking alcohol. Room stank with bad smell, Floor needed vacuuming. Bathroom too small. No privacy, can hear next room's tenants speak. Weekend price increased significantly, probably to accommodate prostitution nearby.
the Location to on the bay area was convenient for a business trip
The free parking was a plus. Everything else! The towels in the bathroom were dirty, the tv didn't work, there was hair on the bed, the shower was filthy, everything in the room was breaking, the bathroom didn't lock, the walls were so thin you could hear the people next door talking, the free breakfast was disgusting, and the whole place was right next to the ghetto!!! This is the first time I have decided not to live in a Hilton or Sheraton and I regret it so much. Never coming back here again! I'm embarrassed for booking this place and making my friends stay here!

Good for one night stay for the price. Heard snoring all night and people lingering outside window around 2am.
Everything was simple and easy. You get more than what you pay for. The room had a fridge, microwave, small table, a chair and a king size bed. The location, I wish it was down town SF but we all now that would only make the price triple.

It was perfect for a quick place to stay. Clean, comfortable, and inexpensive.
The room was clean with modern furnitures. Comfortable bed. Easy to park and access. Good value No complementary breakfast, the train rack is close by so we could hear it. It's a busy street so you can hear the noise from the street, fire truck, police... It's probably not the safest area a lot of homeless. The light in my bathroom was broken and my room was next to the vending machines.
Nothing Room amenities were nothing to brag about.
The location. There were cockroaches in the room and we decided to stay at another hotel. The front desk clerk said she would have the manager refund our money in the morning. She didn't seem to want to be bothered with us and was quite rude. When I called in the morning, the manager hadn't heard a thing about it. Luckily, they were accommodating and I got my refund promptly once i spoke with them.
