Fordele: Very nice location with view, and to start a tour in the city

Fordele: This hotel has exceptional panoramic views of the city. There was a lovely shared balcony attached to my room as well as the dining terrace. The gardens were beautiful as was the decor. Staff was excellent.

Ulemper: Cleanliness of my room could have been a bit better.

Fordele: Location is good. The view is perfect. Restaurant is good.

Ulemper: The toilet is in bedding room. Furniture is very old.

Fordele: Everything was above and beyond perfect! Friendly staff, good wifi, comfortable bed, and secure area.

Ulemper: Everything was great!

Ulemper: many the decoration with Chinese antiques. It looks a bit strange !

Fordele: Amazing view, stylish interior, very good food , nice staff

Fordele: Room #2 was magnificent & the omelet with bacon was super nice as was the fruit, bread, and coffee. The Punjabi Butter Chicken was also excellent. The safe was friendly, helpful, and help arranged a car to the airport. The driver was on time, spoke English well, and was a very safe driver.

Ulemper: Sadly, the local sweet wine was not of good taste or quality :( but also not expensive.

Fordele: It’s seem as though the hotel has lost it’s ‘gloss’. The reviews for cleanliness don’t ring true from my experience. The decor is white (everything in the rooms) this requires a substantial amount of thorough cleaning to keep it to a high standard... unfortunately it’s now more beige than white. The towels are closer to brown. The duvet cover was not clean. My room on the third floor had pungent odour of either sewage or something dead. I had to move room. The second room did not have pillow cases.

Ulemper: The staff are very friendly and attentive

Fordele: The best looking property we stayed at in Madagascar.

Ulemper: However we got extremely sick while eating there, the transportation was poor. One driver had a horrible car other car had a strong smell. Took food over an hour to come on top of it we got severely sick

Fordele: Great staffs

Fordele: One of the cleanest hotels I’ve stayed at, food was excellent, staff very friendly and the main reason I book this place is because I heard it had good WiFi and it certainly did not disappoint actually it might be better than I have at home

Ulemper: Water is expensive

Fordele: The bed was comfy. The breakfast was very good. The staff ver friendly and hardworking.

Ulemper: I did not like the towels. They need to improve on the quality of their towels.

Fordele: It's a beautiful boutique hotel. Very comfortable and well furnished with lovely artistic pieces and photography. Would highly recommend this hotel. Lovely home away from home.

Ulemper: My reservation said pool view, but room overlooked parking lot. Bathroom sink would never drain, so I had to completely remove stopper to let water out.

Fordele: The property is in a really good location. There are a number of shops nearby if you want to pick up something. It also has a good restaurant.

Ulemper: Nothing.

Fordele: I liked the location, the hotel was set up in a very western fashion which is difficult to find throughout Madagascar.

Ulemper: On our arrival we were to have them pick us up at the airport, for some reason we were not on their scheduled pick up, but we saw their van at the airport and they took us to the hotel.

Fordele: near a shopping mall

Fordele: Comfy beds, nice staff, calm location

Ulemper: Many mosquitoes

Fordele: Fantastic air conditioned spacious rooms

Fordele: The the overall facility is very appealing, appearance and landscaping are very attractive, the rooms are great, the restaurant was very good, but the best thing about the Relais Des Plateaux is the staff. Everyone we encountered was pleasant, accommodating, and very friendly despite the fact the we are English speakers in a mostly French place. This is a quiet oasis surrounded by the glorious chaos of Tana.

Ulemper: I can't think of anything I didn't like.

Fordele: The reception staff were excellent.They were all very professional and welcoming. They accommodated all our requests. The restaurant/ pool area was a nice space and the food was of a good quality. We used the hotel as a base in Antananarivo to travel the country and this worked extremely well because the reception staff/porters and transfer service were all very efficient. We stayed a total of 4 nights and each time the transfer service was at the airport/hotel promptly.

Ulemper: The only slight criticism we had was that the bathrooms could do with an upgrade in the room.

Fordele: Very convenient location if you travel to/from Ivato airport.it is a bit of an walled enclave, an island of peace in the commercial buzzing district. Staff is exceptionally kind, smiling and client friendly.

Ulemper: Nothing as such

Fordele: Only 12 minutes from airport. Manager was helpful after problems described below. Restaurant very good and excellent value. Nice pool. Rooms generally fine.

Ulemper: Arrived at 1am, so weren't pleased that we were taken to SEVEN rooms before we found one that had been cleaned. Night manager was clueless. Again, the night staff were told of our flight time for our return to the hotel two weeks later, but they forgot to pick us up and seemed totally clueless as to what was going on.

Fordele: Safe Clean Good food

Ulemper: Slow personal Expensive

Fordele: Upon arrival, I was greeted with a refreshing and tasty drink. The room is clean, spacious and comfortable. The bathroom is great. The outdoor area with the pool is great too. It has an airport shuttle and is free.

Ulemper: At breakfast, nothing is protected against the flies. There's a lot in this place and it's not hygienic. The scrambled egg is not good, it has a mixture with another ingredient and the croassaint isn't either.

Fordele: Staff

Ulemper: Air Condition Not Working

Fordele: There is need for massive rennovations.. the dark old corridor carpets etc. Breakfast is also not up to standard. Very helpful and cheerful staff.

Ulemper: Staff have very good attitude

Fordele: Gym, cleanliness and friendliness from some staff.

Ulemper: The staff was very helpful especially Mirana and the light skinned gym coach were very helpful to me and my husband. The cocktails weren't good need improvement. I always drink hot milk in the night but sometimes I would go warm my milk and one lady at the bar would give me an attitude. The house keeping ladies they were fantastic.

Fordele: Nice breakfast buffet - friendly staff and central location, the room was very clean, good services (gym, beautycare)

Ulemper: No opportunity for suntanning or relaxing as the space around the swimming pool is quite limited, construction work during the entire day

Ulemper: The front snack/ bar area is quite bleak

Fordele: The super-efficient, English-speaking staff are very friendly and always smiling -- in all areas of the hotel. On several stays here during my month in Madagascar I was invariably made to feel very welcome. Thank you, Grand Mellis staff! My room was clean, good bathroom, aircon works fine, Wifi not bad, breakfast selection reasonable. There's a small swimming pool. Both Indian and Western food are available. Everything I tried was delicious.

Ulemper: The restaurant is only open at meal times -- not ideal for weirdos like myself who eat only whenever they get hungry.

Fordele: Having been to a chain of Ibis hotels across the globe, this one had bigger rooms and a lot of space in all aspects. The staff were very profession and warm.

Fordele: More options for breakfast. Availability of ironing option in room.

Fordele: Breakfast was good but slightly expensive

Ulemper: Pool closed for private function Very expensive airport transfers. Much cheaper to get a taxi.

Fordele: Room was extra clean. Front desk staff very helpful when requested to make transportation arrangements

Ulemper: No bathroom essentials ( shower gel, soap etc). The cleaning staff might have forgotten to replenish.

Fordele: Excellent staff. Great food, comfortable beds.

Ulemper: The AC didn't seem to work very well.

Ulemper: the hotel is under construction the website is also deceiving. there are no windows in their rooms

Fordele: The staff, especially on the front desk, were excellent. Friendly, helpful and happy.

Ulemper: Nothing

Fordele: Nothing - Rating 2.9 based on me being seriously :( about everything other than the location (which was just ok) is not right. This should have a rating from me of 0.5.

Ulemper: Check in: Took 30 minutes (no queue), broken printer, the staff weren't around, locals were pestering us the whole time and whispering about us making us feel uneasy. Apparently we were given an upgrade! Room: It was on a building site which shook the room, mosquito nets had whole (windows don't close), wires stuck out form power outlets, no running water, no hot water, it was full of local workers. Sleep: None Without water and the noise we had no choice but to leave after the first awful night. We asked for our money back for the following night (not the bad night we endured). The receptionist said it wasn't possible, he asked the boss (who never appeared) and after 30 minutes of saying the hotel had no cash anywhere we had no choice but to leave. He wanted to try and delay us even longer when he realised we would complain to booking.com but we had given him 3 chances before this and he kept saying 5 minutes, 5 minutes. We were again pestered by locals and we stood feeling really unsafe in the door of the hotel. This hotel should not be on this website, the reviews cannot be real.

Fordele: The food was OK! The stuff in lounge/restaurant was nice.

Ulemper: Everything else! REALLY IMPORTANT TO KNOW: - smoking is allowed everywhere! Also in restaurant and room. I smoke but I don’t need it in sleepingroom and restaurant! - they tried to get 25€ for taxi, don’t reserve by hotel! Choose a taxi by yourself, it will be costs only 10.000 ar (12€) to the airport. In addition: - stuff on reception was really naughty! They didn’t know that I speak french... - Not much light in room - bed was very dirty - bathroom was very dirty! (Toilette and shower) - nothing in room, just bed and a little table. - everywhere smoking smell we booked directly another hotel, so we just stayed for 1 day

Fordele: Very good WIFI, location, staff friendly

Ulemper: I booked the room with breakfast included. I even had with me a mail from the hotel that explicitly stated that breakfast was included. Despite of this, i was told upon arrival that i could not get free breakfast. Further, the room itself was well cleaned, but, the corridor was a construction site. Warm water was also not always available.

Fordele: Booked one room and sleep on 3 rooms during my stay, why?

Ulemper: Changing of rooms

Fordele: Very good location, hotel has its own restaurant on the top floor, good prices and delicious meals. Breakfast was included in the price and was good. Just keep in mind that they start to serve supper only at 19:00. Staff was really nice and friendly, room was clean, hot water, fan, hairdryer, tv and electric kettle in the room..

Ulemper: They offered a taxi which we assumed would be a good price it was double what we found out the price should have been. Then when we did not have enough cash they offered to accept euros and did not accept at the exchange rate but at 700ar less to the euro! Absolutely astounded. Very disappointed with this hotel, kept trying to get us to pay more and charge more all the time. Made us feel very uncomfortable. There were also lots of insects in the room and even saw a cockroach. Would not recommend.

Fordele: The hotel employees are very friendly and helpful. Speaking good english, flexible and willing to help anytime. Food was good as well and has good price. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. The hotel is in the city centre, close to the market. Also offers reliable airport transfer with good price. Had a very nice time :)

Ulemper: Breakfast should be prepared better: yu can have breakfast until 10:00am, however 8:45am is already barely anything left. A better refill would be nice. The bathroom is really pretty, however needs a DOOR / closed walls. Some stuff needs some more privacy than a bamboo courtain...

Fordele: Everything else especially the cigar loving owner. Great staff as well

Ulemper: The bathroom doesn't have a door. Only a curtain that can easily be seen through.

Fordele: The room was great, big bed, lovely balcony overlooking central Antananarivo and a shower with very hot water. The staff were really helpful and the food was delicious. A perfect place to finish our holiday in Madagascar.

Ulemper: The bed it was not clean but totally the room it was clean , so noisy around , even when the people walk in the corridor, they have a parker and that it could be change because of the noise

Fordele: Clean and tidy hotel. Well situated for shopping. Although there was shortage of water in the whole area; the hotel staffs did their best to supply water during specific time throughout the hotel.

Ulemper: The breakfast was ok. But i would suggest that the hotel could have cater for some omelette or boiled egg for the breakfast.

Fordele: Friendly staff, especially Ms. Christina at the reception. They have money exchange. Hotel staff can organize tours.

Ulemper: No door for the toilet in the room. Bugs in the bed were biting us badly. For 3 stars hotel needs some improvements. A lot of noise while walking in the room above us.

Fordele: Breakfast is very basic. Don't expect something great but still its included.

Ulemper: The toilet and the room is not even separated by a door. This can cause inconvenience if ever you receive some guest that needs to go to the toilet. Also, there is no lift there and i was on the 3rd floor since there no room available. So, each time i have to use the stairs. I ordered food from the restaurant which took like 50 minutes to be delivered to my room. The food was not that tasty. It has a pizzeria but only applicable if being ordered at night, not during the day. Suggest to pay the hotel the day before the departure to avoid any issue. Hotel is nice and staff are quite friendly. Its like value for money.

Fordele: Wi-Fi connectivity was excellent as well as proximity to the shops was excellent

Ulemper: The bed had tiny black insects that kept bitting us whilst asleep, I'm not sure if management is aware of the pests

Fordele: My pork chop meal for dinner was clean, delicious and filling. The staff is always very helpful and hospitable. The location is also convenient for reaching many downtown locations. Finally, the gym is very well serviced and a hard-to-find commodity in this area.

Ulemper: The bed was a little hard and the breakfast was strange. The options for dinner were excellent, but I would have preferred more meat and less bread for the breakfast. Also it would have helped me to have the gym open earlier than 0700.
