Nice clean newer hotel! Like most hotels in Manila Area , they are starting to charge a premium like they are New York or Paris ect! It's still the Philippines but poeple are coming and paying these prices so I really can't blame them! I just don't see it, coming here the last 15yrs! the traffic is impossible, so plan on walking!
Staff is beyond friendly and helpful. Go out of their way to help. Great rooms and very clean. Stayed here 7 times and will come back. Love the location. Nothing to say.
Lobby with art gallery and orchestra was outstanding. Fitness facility was one of the best. Location is ideal. Strange ardor from the hallway (carpets?) was immediately noticeable and did not fade during our stay. Apparently was on other floors as well. Check in staff member was borderline discourteous.

Breakfast was very good and staff pleasant It's an older hotel! Way over priced! This hotel should be a $60-80 hotel! Unless they have newer rooms I haven't seen, mine was old but hot water was great for Philippines!
It was a room. Hotel is old and needs renovation. I'm sure there are leaks in the bathroom behind the shower walls. Convenient to the airport at 5am.

I asked for them for a cab and was charged 40 dollars for a 4 dollars ride to the airport. When I said I was not paying I was promptly told it was already charged. At this point I didn't have a lot of time to argue since I had to go to the airport.

The old rooms are very bad. The moldy carpeting and musty smell will make you sick. The new rooms are nice. But they are also carpeted, and even though the carpet is new, it still smells. Stay away if you have allergies. I was initially sent to the dungeon upon arrival (old room), but was then upgraded to a new room after insisting AND paying extra. The Thai restaurant excellent. The Japanese restaurant should add traditional western wines to its menu - i.e. French, Italian, Spanish wines. The sushi is mediocre. Carpet is not a sustainable building material. Carpet accumulates dirt, allergens and mites deep within its fibers. Moreover, carpet is made of petrochemicals, it does not decompose in landfills and is generally not recycled. The room's flooring material should be tile.
Location Ascott could not locate my reservation even when given my confirmation number and booking agents number. Front desk did not know what to do, they wanted to charge me double my original paid reservation and credit my paid reservation when it came through.....WHAAAAAT! Very late and tired, no one offered to make it right, front desk seem to have attitude. I finally called Kayak and had them locate original reservation which was faxed to front desk. Front desk calls me to tell me they have fixed it and I clearly told them... I FIXED IT BY CALLING KAYAK...which is something they should've done in the first place!!!!!
The service and security level provided by the Ascott's was excellent and to 5 stars international standards. Honesty and responsiveness of front desk personnel is commendable. Bathroom furnishing needs to be enhanced in order to improve averall staying experince.

The space of the apartment was excelent... Front desk friendlyness might need to be improved.
The floors were extremely dirty. Always had to keep shoes on otherwise feet were black on bottoms. We were even in the penthouse suite where you would think they take more care.
Rooms are great, we love the great big windows giving us a great view of the city and the pool.

We stayed 3 different times within 3 weeks in this hotel (we went out of town twice between stays). First of all, the service is impecabble. The staff is very warm and welcoming. The location next to 2 huge malls means the availability of many restaurants and retail shops and services. Being a fairly new hotel, the interiors are very nice and clean, yet it feels homey. I totally felt comfortable here and would go back and highly recommend this hotel to others.
Top things about this hotel in order: Location (you cant find any better), Staff, The Bed, Bathroom, Minibar, Spa, The Cityview, and Security. The rates are too exaggerated, You can find other much cheaper hotels with similar qualities, nothing very special about it for such a price
The hotel was nice and everything was practical, very business like. Much more my style than the Mandarin Oriental.
This is the best hotel in the area if price and location are your priorities. It is built next to the new part of Glorietta. Elevators are slower than comparable hotel elevators in the area.

Location good, very close to Makati Avenue Breakfast too much Filipino, nothing suitable for international. When you check-in, they ask you to sign the in-print for guarantee, which is never done in other countries. And when you check-out, they ask you if you had something from the minibar, and after your negative answer, they tell you to sit down and wait until they receive the answer from the floor if you said the truth or if you're trying to cheat them. I told them that this is very impolite and that they should process the check-out immediately, because the reception can receive the result of the room-check in the meantime the check-out is being processed. But they seem not to understand.

the hotel is good for a traveller who like to enjoy nightlife and is very good location(shooping mall)-power plant,greenbelt,global city by using taxi cozt u abt (80peso-15peso) depend on traffic...is not good recomment for family to stay this hotel. the TV and the bed is old....

Centrally located for everything g I wanted to do in manila The hotel ran out of shower towels at times. Had to wait until after midnight for towels.

Stayed in refurbished room on 21st floor. Big improvement over rooms have used on lower floors. free Wifi is hassle free, and room facilities good. Plumbing fixtures in bathroom needed attention. Low water pressure and availability Hot Water can be problem at times. Only 1 lift out of 3 working due maintenance and upgrade took time.Check-out process slow due housekeeping have to check minibar before check-out can begin - allow time for process.
the location is good , easy to get most local foods , just 5 - 10 mins by taxi to shopping mall , its comfortable to stay in Berjaya Hotel Manila. no wifi in the room
All staff members are cordial; only problem is they take dollars equivalent as per their own arbitrary conversion rates; for ex-they demanded 50 pesos per U S ,dollar where as actual rate was 43 pesos that day; after quarrel and talk with manager they took actual dollars which I offered as per Booking.com reservation nothing
WiFi only in the Lobby / Restaurant, in the room one adventurous looking lan cable, but also working. Connection is not very stable. Staff is friendly but sometimes does not see things and needs of the guest on its own. The roomservice and housekeeping is quick amd good. The room itself could use a refreshing of the interior. Bath floods itself by design if you take a shower ;-), but there is a rinse in the ground. The pool is there bit not so nice and inviting.

The service was beyond attentive. As an example, we didn't just lie bedside the excellent pool... We were constantly served besides this pool, and often with freebies.
I liked the rooms, restaurants, pool area. Service in the pool area, difficulties in payments with foreign credit cards, miss information in front desk, communication between the workers from shift to shift was poor, airplane noise time to time was too loud.
for some reason, the bathroom shower was not designed to stop the water from spilling out. hard to keep the floor dry.
swimming pool was fantastic, food, buffet breakfast, stunning view for the bay of sunset, staff were great, rooms were comfortable its just too expensive to stay for long length of time....
The service at the 10th floor. They did not keep the standard of the food service the same in their buffet . I would rate them at most a 3.5 Also when I was upgraded my room they told me and gave me a sheet of paper telling me I can stay until 4pm. Next day ,but they reneged and extended my stay until 1 pm.
the view of the bay and the pool from the room was gorgeous. the bed was super comfortable. nice sheets. no line of regular taxis waiting outside because of the non-central location. i was very, very disturbed by the dirty sides of the toilet when we arrived. for such an expensive room, no ipod dock and no flat screen tv.
As an experienced traveller, the minute I stepped foot in Sofitel Plaza hotel, another chapter was added to my worldly experience. The lovely flowers display at the foyer added an elegant touch to the entrance. The spacious and comfortable room has a delightful view and room service was impeccable. The breakfast offered a wide selection of international cuisines which were both tempting and delicious. Last but not least, the comfortable chairs in the garden which pampered the guests to no end. A job well done and I thank you for a most enjoyable stay.

Sunset at Manila Bay is awesome, you don't need to get out of the place to experience. Staff very friendly and attentive. Will stay again.
The tennis court, the pool, newer building, everything seemd to work well. Live band at night. You cant walk into metro manila like at other hotels, this can be good or bad depending on what you want to do. This is a non factor i think if you were with a family. Hot water took a long time to get hot.

I had forgotten to pack my running T-shirt and shorts when i checked out. I only realised when i was already in a cab to another city. I called the hotel and told them that I had forgotten the T-shirt and shorts and if they could kindly keep it for me as I was coming back to Makati a few days later. When I went to collect my T-shirt and shorts, they were washed and nicely folded and packed for me. This was definitely a gesture that was not expected and a welcome surprise. Location, location, location Rooms need to be updated
Closeness to all shops and places to eat Noisy day construction after a late night event I wanted to sleep but couldn't because of heavy noises next door. Although it's posted I did not realize how bad it was. Pool was closed too
The staff is extremely courteous and helpful. Very good service. The non-renovated rooms are very decrepit, needs major renovations, including changing the sofas (creaks) and fixtures.
No early check-in. No late check out. Breakfast for 1 despite it being a double room. Room requests for double beds not accommodated. Overall, pleasant staff, albeit highly ineffective.
Location; positive attitude of staff. Way over priced. Dusit Thani is much better for less money.

Location to restaurants and shopping was excellent. The newly renovated room was equipped with modern furnishings. I really enjoyed strong water pressure of the shower! The staff was attentive and courteous to your needs. The room's electrical power outlets weren't working properly. The light dimming switches were confusing to use. I had just a "lemon room" of all rooms. The sound of construction due to the hotel's room renovation project can be heard throughout the day.

Excellent service and very well maintained hotel. Great location next to shopping and restaurants at Greenbelt and Glorietta malls. Minor quibble, but noticed that the showers did not seem quite scrubbed down at the creases. so you can start to see the age. Not quite mildew, but the only thing that keeps it from being perfect.
The rooms were spacious and had a lot of drawers for storage space. The view was absolutely amazing. The room service food wasn't that great. I also didn't like that you had to transfer elevator to get to your floor from the ground floor up to the lobby.
The lobby is very nice. Nice room and room service, it's up to a 5 star standard. Why the staff cannot get me a taxi when I need to go to airport ? Asked me to use Uber and which I did. However, I am from United States and Philippines not accepting my form of payment and not able to request one. The staff suggest we just stand there and wait until a taxi come by.. end up I followed up myself after 20 minutes of wait; going back to concierge and ask them to grab me a local Uber... waited for another 20 minutes to catch one...cannot believed peninsula is so behind at this area !!

Breakfast was lovely. The variety of food available was good for all meals. The gym is excellent. Room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very nice and there was a nightlight, a nice touch all too often neglected. It's a very nice hotel and I would go back! But.... WIFI access ends the moment you check out. Immediately. Which means that even if you check out at 9am and could have checked out at noon, no wifi for you as of 9am. Hopefully you don't have to call a cab or write a memo. Perhaps you were thinking of a leisurely breakfast in the lobby after checking out while reading the paper online. Nope. In 2015, when you pretty much assume that internet access is available for a reasonable amount of time, that's a pretty strong negative. The staff was far too eager to serve and frankly, a bit overbearing. The first day, I had two members of staff burst into my room while I was in the bathroom (pretty bad luck, I suppose), one without knocking, the other with just a cursory knock and a half second wait. I learned to lock and chain the door and put on the DND light right away. Once I forgot the DND light but locked the door... Ooops! So while I was taking a nap, I got someone knocking at the door for 2 minutes till I got up so they could give me bottles of water. Eating in one of the restaurants requires that you keep a tight grip on your plate or glass if you are having a leisurely meal... a waiter is likely to swoop down and take it away before you can say a word, if they feel you are done, whether at breakfast, lunch, or dinner. While eating, one waiter after another will come over to ensue that you are enjoying your meal, interrupting a quiet evening, over and over again. The service has good intentions, but really needs to back off a bit.
The hotel staff FAR exceeded my expectations...as good or better than any five star resort. The breakfast buffet was fabulous! Loved the rooftop pool and gym in penthouse. We stayed for 9 days, left for a few days, then happily returned to City Garden :) Having to leave....

The TV channels had a problem which was not fixed during my 2 stays in a period of 6 days then my other stay for 2 days 12 days later
We stayed for 1 night so we could be closer to the airport for the following day's early flight. Location is great and the amenities are great. Love that we were entertained at the casino.
