I liked that it was clean I didn't like that they give you a bracelet to wear when you check in, and if you lose it they charge you 100 dollars and if you don't pay they lock you in the gate with your rental car and your girlfriend has to jump in the front seat and drive the car out while you hold the huge a gate and the guard tries to stand in the way of girlfriend at the wheel (she'll kill you) and if this is actually a success then they radio the police at the next traffic stop down the road and force you to come back and pay.
All inclusiveness and he quality of the meals Staff need little bit more training in service and certain high end service customs.
The staff was friendly and the resort itself was beautiful. Awful food. Hard Bed / Mattress. Dirty linens and towels. No cell service or wifi on property(except lobby). No ocean view rooms on this property (the view is blocked by trees). Ants in our room daily. We shortened our stay. Couldn't wait to get out. This property is worth 2 stars at best.
Staff was extraordinary!!! Especially " Angel" you are the Best!!!
That it had running water, otherwise it was a complete disaster Beds food staff gallery cleanliness
Quiet, good setting Check out time to early.
Staff and location perfect ...
A/C in an area where almost no hotel has it. Nope
I loved the treehouse feel of the upper garden view room. It was awesome that the included breakfast was actually ordering something off the menu in the restaurant. Beautiful grounds, I felt safe with the security there. The staff recommendations at the front desk were not always particularly helpful (sent us for our most expensive dinner, wrong directions for ATM, etc) - nothing super terrible, but if I have to list something that wasn't perfect, that's it.
The relaxed vibe, great staff and amazing location on the beach.
Location and staff were very nice Food was inexplicably poor given the area and opportunity. Wifi never worked and rooms were totally lacking charm. The area is rich in simple delicious cuisine and charming rooms but this hotel did not care to embrace those traditions.
Sophisticated and relaxed vibe.
This hotel felt like home. The food in the restaurant is very good and the vibe is relaxed and unpretentious. The hammock groves, garden & bach were beautiful.
The staff were so accommodating and helpful. The breakfast was huge! Beach was quiet and nice. At the end of the beach so the drive into town was a little further than it could have been. The breakfast starts at 8 which is too late if you want to go diving...we had to ask for it to go and were frustrated with how long it took when we were in a rush
The location, the room was nice and the staff. The hotel worked for us because we wanted to party that night and not having to worry about driving. The hotel is in the middle of the blvd so we pretty much accomplished that. The hotel also has a bar on the roof. The toilet wasn't working and smelled terrible. The bed was hard, there was no elevator. The only room available was in the 3rd floor. Also if you have a car good luck finding parking.
location, not too crazy crowds, peaceful, large rooms, bike rental across the road. food was not very good. not very helpful about tourist activities, and it said wifi but there was not
my room had a great view and was clean and very comfortable. i think it was too expensive for what it was, I didn´t like the breakfast. and the staff wash´t very friendly, we asked for a bottle of water one night and they told us they could´t give us one, that if we wanted one we could drive 30 min. downtown for one, with a really bad attitude.
Location. Right on the beach. Even though we weren't beachfront we had a great view from the hammock on our front porch. Large room was nice too. Good price for all inclusive. Friendly staff. Constant loud music at the pool bar ruins the ambiance of a romantic and relaxing atmosphere. We had to move down the beach to get away from it and we are not old people. Plus we could hear it in our rooms. Pavo wants to be a party location for young people with a second rate bar and outdoor dance floor which is what any hotel can do when they should be concentrating on the fact that they have one of the most beautiful locations and views in Mexico that most don't have. If I wanted to dance I could go to a club. I checked in to relax. Also do away with adjoining rooms. We could hear EVERY word said and every action in the adjoining room since it was only a single door. Also security guards were constantly annoying us because we didn't want to wear our bracelets 24/7. Aggravating. That keeps the staff rating from being excellent.
The large room (11) was beautifully decorated, we had a view of the ocean, king size bed, indoor and outdoor bathtub. The room was clean, free coffee all day long, free pastries and fruit. Quiet and peaceful. Very friendly staff. We spent 4 days with intermittent hot water, cold water at peak times before they changed the boiler. Don't leave any food in the room - critters come in and poop everywhere if you do. The bed was not very comfortable. The hotel's response to the hot water problem was not good: First we were told the guests before us did not have this problem. Three times they said it was fixed and to wait for 20-30 minutes but it took 2 hits for the water to get hot. Finally they changed the boiler.
Construction noise from 7am to 8pm
Nothing like it! A true adventure! There were a few water leaks from the above tree houses and the house music from other hotels made it hard to sleep one night.
View Do not book this hotel online!!!!! We had an extremely negative experience, from not receiving the room we reserved online through Kayak. What made matters worse was Donovan, the front desk manager, addressed the situation with a very condescending tone and lack of professionalism. In the end, we never received the room we initially booked or any discount due to the fact that we had booked a higher priced room. We also witnessed other guests having similar issues with online booking, one in particular was turned away at night because the hotel was overbooked. In addition, the hotel has a small "beach", which is shared by a camping site and another hotel. The beach is full of seaweed and rocks. Fortunately for us, Tulum is such a beautiful place that we were able to enjoy ourselves, despite our stay in Azulik. If you are considering Tulum, we suggest you book elsewhere.
Breakfast was quite elaborated, not excessively abundant but enough and varied, with the possibility of additional side-orders (although not included in the price of the room). They offer you a second cup of coffee, which is something I always appreciate in non-buffet breakfasts (remember Reservoir Dogs...). Besides, a French guy at the reception and serving the tables is quite helpful with any query on Tulum ,d very polite. Too many mosquitoes, although I understand that in Tulum and Riviera Maya they rule... The rooms were a bit tacky for the price, quite old furniture and no mini-fridge to cool the beverages in that extremely hot weather. Although it was close to Avenue Tulum (main street) it was a bit too far from the center as it was located off the highway and at night there was no sidewalk to get there, and had to risk to walk on the very road. Besides, a bit far from the beach (7km)m
swimming pool wait time and room wasn't as it appeared on website
The hotel was absolutely great, and the staff was super-friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely and classy (bungalow-style), the garden was full of tropical plants and flowers (and an iguana, too), the restaurant served great Mexican and French food at reasonable prices. After dinner you can sit on one of the hammocks on the patio a just relax... a true vacation! The hotel is a bit far from the center of Tulum (about 10 minutes on foot on a not-so-nice road), but taxis are so inexpensive that it cost us only 1 or 2 USD to get to all the restaurants or to the beach. Some of the rooms are bungalow-style, with the roof made of palm tree leaves, so some inoffensive bugs and small lizards might come in: if bugs bother you, just ask for a room with a "regular" roof.
Modern styling in the room. Professional and courteous staff.
From the moment I arrived at the hotel I was greeted by friendliness from the owners. I was travelling on my own for the first time and apprehensive about everything! They helped me to arrange the most amazing trips and made my week exciting, comfortable and cultural. I was able to swim with dolphins, giant turtles and tropical fish. I conquered fears by swimming through caves (cenotes) & climbing to above the jungle's canopy. I drifted with the current for 2km through mangroves wearing a lifejacket as if it was a giant nappy. I learnt about the Mayan people and was able to climb over their ruins with ease. The hotel, staff, pool and food is great and I would not hesitate to recommend it to everyone.
Staff was super friendly!
The entire staff was friendly and helpful. The tropical garden that surrounds the property is exquisite.
Don Diego de la Selva offers a very good comfort, friendly atmosphere, a balanced combination of local and international staff, 5 min walking distance to Tulúm night life. Great is also that it has its own stretch of a very nice beach some 5 km away at Tulum beach area, offering all comfort and is less noise than the more public beaches around. Great cenote diving and snorkling in many places around Tulum, hotel staff gave me quite good advices where to go. I can clearly recomend.
Very friendly staff, the hotel was a little oasis in the middle of the town, beautifully maintained gardens, a relaxed and tranquillo atmosphere, a perfect respite from home.
Very helpful staff, clean rooms and nice location.
spacious comfortable rooms with a private terrace surrounded by tropical garden. The breakfast and dining area by the pool is open air, beautiful decorated cool and pleasant.
Very clean beautiful setting with a great pool. After staying right on the beach, the air conditioning was a welcome change! Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again! In retrospect, I wish we would've rented a car. Walking down the unlit back road to the hotel at night wasn't ideal.
The staff was courteous, helpful and spoke very good English. The breakfast was delicious. Nothing.
The hotel was really arranged to make you feel at home. I really liked the small kitchenett in the suite. Every detail was well thought. A couple of towels and sheets had iron rust stain on them. So I guess it could have been cleaner. Still pretty clean IMO.
The staff is phenomenal! Helped with setting up tours, dinner recommendations, built in concierge for Tulum. The garden is lovely, very well maintained, peaceful and has many areas set up for reading, visiting. The breakfast was simple, but good.
The location is near to the restaurant and artist shops. The decoration is warm like home garden. The people in the hotel are awesome!!! they offer a lot of useful information, and tips for saving money. I lost my ID there, they help me to deliver a little mode in the room.
Excellent breakfast They wanted a % surcharge to accept credit cards
Overall fine for one night, great included breakfast! Good coffee and fresh squeezed juice. My favorite thing about being in Mexico. Cleanliness could be a little better but not terrible. The lighting was florescent ceiling lights with no reading lamps. Sounds trivial but it would be an easy fix and make the experience better.
