The hotel is very clean and well maintained. It is an old building with character. There didn't seem to be any dress code for the staff so I couldn't tell for sure who was working there or hanging out. Staff couldn't easily tell me where local restaurants were. I had to find them on my own. The air blowing into the room from the HVAC vent was loud. I would have expected this from a cheap hotel but I paid over $350 per night.
Comfy beds, decent size room in the junior suite. Nice quality towels and linens. Staff was pretty rude when we came back from seeing monuments. Bar tender was very rude when I went to take a call from my sitter and acted as if I was running out on the tab and refused my drink when I returned for no reason. The manager, I assume was very rude when we came in laughing (mind you, it was a bday party and gathering of veterans) In serious need of vending machines or at least bottles of water. The night staff was nice enough to bring up a cup.
The Churchill was a delightful respite for this harried traveller. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly, the decor very pleasing, the room quite comfortable . All in all, my stay - though short- was very pleasant. I have no complaints.

I loved the room and the cleanliness...the comfort of the bed..overall great... the fact that there was no tub mat in the bathroom. Tub very slippery. as a business traveler my flight was late and when I got to the hotel there was no restaurant or room service.. on my floor there were not even vending machines to purchase soft drinks..

This hotel has just been totally renovated, it is literally steps away from a metro station (key in DC). I stayed here at the last minute recently and will be back.
The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. Very conveniently located. If you need to be close to Dupont and don't plan on spending much time at the hotel, it's a good choice. The hotel is under major construction. At first, it wasn't even clear how to enter the building. Then we figured out that we needed to enter through the parking garage. The front desk is a small kiosk by the elevators. It's still a decent choice for the price if you're mostly concerned about location.

Very cool rooftop pool and bar geared towards adults with excellent live DJ. Gay-friendly atmosphere. Clean and modern furnishings. Fun, young vibe. Service could have been more professional. Hotel seemed understaffed. Pool area needs more lounge chairs as seating was very limited. Rooftop bar offerings were limited and bartender skill was somewhat below expectations for such a cool space.
Beautiful and clean We were given a handicapped room and the bathroom facilities made it difficult to shower and relax. We were also told there was no charge on parking when booking and then charged.
It was a beautiful hotel, and the staff was very friendly. There were no ice machines, the wifi never worked the whole time we were there and they charged you for it. We had to call maintenance 4 times because AC would not turn off.
The renovation & new decor is pretty much complete! The hotel looks beautiful! The facility is great, comfy, and has a lot to offer. Our stay was okay and went smoothly. The young man who checked us out on Sunday was super friendly and very nice! (wish we would've had him at check in) Check in at 1am was a bit rough and staff was not very friendly. Being giving some information or offer of any help or to answer questions would have been nice. Knowing about the breakfast foods in the AM would have made things a little nicer also.
The Embassy Row is a trendy well-decorated hotel in a modern style, recently renovated. Excellent location, nice rooftop with small pool. Good food on rooftop... they have a limited selection but only $10 for each item at the grill. The staff seemed confused at every turn whenever we asked a question, particularly about pool access. They were friendly but unclear. The hotel charged us an extra $10 per day for amenities without fully explaining this ahead of time. When we asked about this upon check-out, front desk staff said it is for wi-fi, rooftop, fitness center, etc. Why is that not just included in the nightly rate? Also, parking is very expensive ($45/night).
Embassy Row is a gorgeous area to stay. The interior design aesthetic was fun and well done! It was easy to relax and feel comfortable. The "Adult Rec Room" was a fun detail as well. Never did I see the staff without a smile. They were eager to help with everything from handling wet umbrellas to dining recommendations . Very close to the Metro, so navigating was a breeze. The A/C is loud inside the rooms. (But only a problem if you're a light sleeper.)

Staff attitude was terrible. It took over 25 minutes to check in at one o'clock in the morning. The lobby was dirty and dusty and the construction elevator came to bring me to my room had all sorts of debris . I was woken up to a fire alarm and walked down 8 flights of partially (dangerous) lit stairwell. When I arrived in the lobby it was thankfully declared a false alarm . I checked out of the hotel out of breath unshowered and a disheveled mess.

Very clean, comfortable, and modern. It is currently under construction in the hotel lobby, but it was never bothersome to us. We could not hear it even from the elevator! Great place to stay
the renovations are finished the location is good the price was still right the walls are thick and I've never heard my neighbors free breakfast isn't included anymore will the price start to rise as people discover this place?

The room, location and jazz brunch. heating throughout the room-bedroom gets extremely hot and heat does not transfer to the living room area. No thermastat exists in the living area for control of heat.

The hotel is ideally located in that it is walking distance to the White House and the Washington Monument. The room was also nicely appointed and clean. The staff was very nice and responsive. Service was on par with a 5 star experience. We booked the premier room through Kayak. The room we were give. Was TINY - e.g. distance between dresser and the bed was probably less than 2 feet. If I were a solo traveler, this would not have been a problem. However, with a toddler, this became an immediate safety concern. We upgraded to a deluxe room.
Nice design/vibe Caveat this with the fact that I travel monthly for business and see a lot of hotels: 1. Mattress was sub-standard. Sat down on it and was like "uh oh." 2. Walls were thin. I could hear neighbors snoring and the exact words in their phone conversations...until midnight. 3. Room was small. The only place with enough room to do a push-up or sit-up is by the door.

Amazing breakfast. (We got free breakfast vouchers when we booked our room). Comfy bed. Convenient central location. Asked for a fridge, never got one. Had to have the shower repaired because it wouldn't get hot. TV had really bad reception and very few channels.
It was a quick stay but it was great. The staff was super friendly and extremely helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The only thing I wish this hotel had was free wifi.
Excellent location: within walking distance of Metro stops &, even better for me, across the street from a Bike Share station. Staff were polite, helpful, and professional. Worth every cent I spent. Happy medium between really expensive places right next to the monuments and less expensive places that were farther away. The room was smaller than I expected but adequate for my needs.
I used to work near Scott Circle so this was convenient for me to go visit friends. No choice as to heat or a/c in the room...which is a nightmare during in-between seasons. My room was too warm and there was nothing I could do about it. Ugh. Also, $41 for valet parking is nothing short of highway robbery. Finally, female front desk clerk needs to add "smiling" to her repertoire.
The location was great. Movies could not be rented on the TV. Wifi was spotty.
It's in a good location just north of the heart of Washington DC. I was in town for 6 nights for a SHRM conference and this hotel was very disappointing. Why is it that more expensive hotels charge extra for wifi while it's free at lower-end hotels? An extra $15/day for wifi. Ridiculous! They were a little stingy with the towels--I only had 2 bath towels in my room. Most hotels provide 3 as standard. The bathroom was small and laid out oddly. The toilet was against the same wall as the bathroom door, facing the sink, and was very close, so getting up was a little awkward. The shower didn't have a door so a lot of water ended up on the floor. I reserved a king bed but the bed I got was no bigger than a queen. I had to ask to be moved to a room with a king bed. The staff was neither friendly nor accommodating. The published breakfast hours were up to 10:30 but when I tried to enter the restaurant a little after 10:00 am the staff said they were closed until lunch. The examples of their borderline-rudeness are too numerous to list, but very few on staff were friendly. Oddly enough the exception seemed to be the housekeeping staff.

Unfortunately we had to cancel our reservation due to heavy rain, traffic, wind,etc on the route. The manager did agree to refund part of our money. We were disappointed that we weren't able to make the trip.
The staff was very friendly. The price was fairly cheap for the location. The wifi didn't work and charged $12/day. Heat and lights didn't work. Bed bugs. Expensive parking.
I like the location, the staff was polite, etc. The bathroom floor was dirty. The floor needs cleaning. Requested a small refrigerator and the next day my food was no good. Chemicals in the fridge. The wifi didn't work, however, the price was waived and I was able to go to the T room to do urgent work.

This site says it has free parking which is not true it was ok but wouldn't stay there again breakfast is 16 dollars for cereal and muffins internet is also expensive
The Hotel Madera was perfectly located for walking as well as catching the Dupont Circle Metro stop. Lots of nearby shops and restaurants. Rooms were clean and spacious. The entire hotel staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating.
Staff was very friendly. Beautiful atmosphere. Comfortable beds. Balcony door was broken, and no one came to see it despite my attempts to have it fixed. Very unsafe and unprofessional.
The Baron was just right for my son and I. From the old-fashioned elevator to the comfy beds and clean room, we loved it! The rooms are small, probably wouldn't be as comfortable for a family, but it was perfect for us. Our check-in clerk was helpful and friendly on Sunday night. Unfortunately, the rest of the stay there was a different clerk and he wasn't friendly or helpful. My son and I kept wishing the other guy would be there! If you like the conveniences of a newer, chain hotel, you won't be happy. No ice machine, old elevator, small rooms.

The location is very convenient to tour DC. Parking a rental car is a bit of work because they only have street parking for a few cars in front of the hotel. the restaurant in the basement has great beer and food bar food entrees. The staff are nice people. I appreciated chatting with them. Other good restaurants and Starbucks near y. Difficult car parking. A bit old. Rooms a bit small. The elevator with manual door. These inconveniences were worth it to get the price and good location.
The bar underneath the hotel was the best thing about this stay. It is also close to the circle and the metro. The keys had to be replaced at least once a day. And if you can in later than 9 there was no one at the front desk to help replace the keys.
Nice room service Lift was very old, breakfast was not good after paying $5, don't have a bothtob. We paid $125 after tax per night for the double bed room, I don't know what we should expect for that price. We stayed for 5 nights.
The only positive part of my stay was leaving the morning after. The hotel is extremely outdated in style, functionality and accommodations. After driving around for 45 minutes looking for parking we finally checked in. At check in, they charged me another $15 for taxes. Taxes based off of the Booking.com charge plus their taxes. The room started at $75 and jumped to $109 after the website fees and taxes, then $125 after the hotel taxes!! After trying to squeeze through the 60 year old elevator doors (I'm not a big guy) we made our way to our room through the hallway tilting toward the stairwell. Once we got to our room is was just as cold as it was outside (25*) and it was the most pathetic looking hotel room I've ever paid for. I can't believe I spent over $40 for this. The heater tried to keep the room warm all night but it was not doing so and it was extremely loud. Our bed had to be the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on. I considered sleeping on the floor to be more comfortable. I was charged for a "Queen" room which clearly stated a queen sized bed. We definitely did not have a queen sized bet, double at most. After not sleeping at all that night, we left just as early as the sun came up. I told the employee at checkout about the bed and his response was "I'll have to tell my manager it was uncomfortable". If you are in DC, AVOID this hotel at all costs. Our second night in DC we found a 4 star hotel and paid even less! I would love my money back for our visit but I have a feeling that won't ever happen.

Location on Embassy row is amazing. It's right around the Australian Embassy, India Embassy, Trinidad & Tobago Embassy and several others. It's also within walking distance to several eateries and DuPont circle. The drain in the bath tub would clog when I took a shower. The cable TV selection was spotty and I had to go down to the bar to watch Monday night football. Some of the wall paper is old and coming off of the wall. but other then that, no major complaints.
The Fairfax is a very nice hotel; terrific, terrific location close to many great restaurants and the Metro, extremely comfortable room, very accommodating staff. A completely positive experience (as always--I have stayed here before).
Beautiful and spacious room with a wonderful view (although admittedly I was on the top floor on the right side of the building). Excellent location and some great restaurants nearby. The room key magnetization system didn't work well and the staff were not spectacularly efficient.
The Fairfax at Embassy Row exceeded our expectations. All of the staff were well-trained, courteous and extremely helpful. The room was very comfortable, the bathroom had a great shower, and two morning newspapers were provided. The concierge recommended a monthly event at the nearby Phillips Collection, which happened to coincide with our stay. The hotel has a great location, near the Metro and scores of restaurants and shopping. We were very impressed with the hotel and would definitely return.

We had an excelent stay at Marriot.... We enjoyed But...... 5 minutes after we leave the room, my wife left an expensive blouse in the room... I personally hanged out the blouse in the closet...so I went back to pick it up.... sadly I couldn't find it..... the staff came to the room..... But nothing of blouse was there.... that evening in our family meeting my wife didnt know what to wear.... So sad.... No time to shopping that day. So, Next time you leave you room in this Hotel.... you know what to do before close the door ....

The location at 21st and M is great. The staff was friendly and helpful. The cookies at check in were delicious! The property seemed to be under some type of renovation. So, from the outside, parts of the hitem seemed to be out of commission. The room was fine. But the hallway was almost exclusively grey and dated.

the location is near where my son lives- walking distance The air conditioning (rm902) seemed un able to bring the temperature of the whole space down. The layout puts much of the room a long distance to the cooling air. The sink in the bathroom leaves little space for the toiletries.
A Kimpton stay is always worth savoring and the Topaz is no exception. Conveniently located on a quiet street just a block away from Du Pont Circle, its plethora of restaurants and Red Line metro stop, couldn't be better positioned. One of Kimplton's older properties in DC, its age is beginning to show but the rooms remain very comfortable with well functioning AC (important in this city) and comfy beds and linens. The people at a Kimpton are always the best, and the Topaz staff don't disappoint with helpful tips and recommendations and a willingness to pursue whatever you need. The tight lobby and now fading décor reflect the early days of Kimpton's rapid expansion in the District. The Topaz is a very intimate, boutique hotel that fits in well with the quiet residential neighborhood. Rooms are surprising spacious and physically comfortable, but well-worn and in need of an overall rehab with an attention to technology and access to electric and USB outlets, particularly around the desk (where you still need to crawl under to plug in your computer!). All said, I'd easily stay here again for its convenient location when the price is right.
The room was extremely spacious and the front desk staff was very accommodating. I also like the general ambience of the hotel. Front desk comped my minibar purchase because of the door issues. I was disappointed by the level of upkeep associated with my room. The entry door was clearly broken. You had to yank hard and really slam the door to get it to shut and stay locked. My housekeeper left my room door wide open after servicing the room one night so I came back to an open door. All of my belongings could have been stolen but luckily everything was there. The AC unit wasn't functioning properly so the room temp was a bit hot. The lighting in the vanity area was burned out. Could have been great but this really took away from the experience. Also no HBO

Super friendly staff and great breakfast experience. Super attentive staff when needed extra towels, etc. Leaky faucet in sink in kitchenette. Dual outlet only really one outlet. Had to choose CPAP over reading light.
Much quieter than we expected, given its location. Lobby is kinda cramped. Parking is pricey.
