The location was great. the hotel overall was quite nice with AC. The breakfast was delicious.
Great location and attentive, concerned staff. Perhaps the best dinning in the city. Very comfortable sleeping. Shower didn't have a curtain to contain the water, so it could get messy. Otherwise it worked well with good pressure.
Proximity to main attractions. Large, spacious room. Effective air-con. Excellent view. Never had to wait for lift.
hotel personal was extremely helpful
Great location and a superb hotel in the heart of the city. So many sights to see, without getting the car out again.
Lovely hotel in all respects other than being some what dated and old fashioned. Great view from the room. Old fashioned fittings and decorations
The room was large and comfortable The maid left our door open on our first day but the reception staff were apologetic. Tea and coffee making facilities would have made it better.
Excellent location and very peaceful Our room was comfortable, but a little on the small side
Good location, good breakfast!
The staff, location and size of the room No
This hotel was located in the centre of the Old City. The location was excellent for choice of dining, shopping and seeing the many interesting sights.
The location was excellent and the rooms were very comfortable and clean
The fridge with things to buy in the lobby was well stocked. The breakfast buffet was very good. The bed was comfortable. The room allocated to us was overlooking the breakfast room so we had to keep our blinds drawn most of the time. We were next to the staircase on floor 1 (room 102) so we often heard noises of footsteps and the door slamming on the ground floor. Would not choose this room and you should not be offering it.
The location of the hotel was wonderful--mere steps from the Palais de la Papes. Parking was available at an adjacent parking ramp, a big plus for staying in Avignon. It was very difficult finding the hotel as the entrance is located inside the parking garage.
Very gool location, close to palace, 2 minute walk to town Square. clean rooms , good size comfortable bed Staff had quite a bit of diffuculty with english , not a big problem for us could be for some
Parking close to the entrace for 23 hours.Bed was comfortable They were having major renvation works and did not state this to guess, before arrival/booking. Losy minibar and no open bar services facility due o these works. No meals other tha high cot breakfast. No power plugs beside bed The cost was far too high - should have been a reduction due to virtually no facilities that Mercure normally offer. Moved to nother hotel next day for 30 euros less.
I am disappointed, having booked this hotel through Active Hotels, that the single night stay by my wife and her friend was billed as two separate transactions on my credit card, thus attracting extra commission. I have heard of this trick before, it is usually to avoid a single transaction over £100 on a credit card. The check in and room have been ticked as poor because my wife tried to get into her room and the card didn't work. The existing occupant came out to see who was trying to get into his room. What a simple but stupid mistake.
The location of hotel is just 1 minute from the “Palais de la Papes” and all the main attractions. Moreover it has an entrance directly from the public parking (you have a discount from the official price). The staff was kind and speaks a good English. The room was very quite. The room was not so big. The price is high. Sometimes in the hall there was a bad smell (drain?).
The beds were excellent, nice duvets and pillows. Nice to have a fridge. Great location for sightseeing. Bar area been refurbished since I last stayed there and looks much more modern. No milk or coffee was ever placed in the room - only teabags? Had to ask reception for coffee and bought our own milk. Considering the cost of the room this was playing real cheap. You get tea, coffee and milk in any decent budget hotel nowadays.
Location and ease of parking. The duvet on the bed was too hot. We had to take it apart.
Very good location, nice rooms Smeal on the hole
The location is super....the facility is ok, since it's renovated from an old building.
Great location, right next to the Papal Palace. Our room was located directly over the kitchen of the hotel's restuarant and overlooking the street in front of the hotel, so it was very noisy with people, deliveries, trash pick-up, street sweepers...
The staff were very friendly and courteous and eager to provide a good service to guests. The hotel is located at the top of the main street and opposite the Palace du Papes, which is an excellent location. It also has a very good restaurant. No, it was good value for money and very pleasant.
location just what was needed room over looking square
Location was perfect. I would recommend hotel only for the location Bathroom was extremely uncomfortable. Bathtub was very deep, no handles to help you out, water would splatter all over
Friendliness of the Hotel Staff.
restruant is nice room is small
Great location, large and pretty room (with wood beams in the ceiling), clean. A pleasant place to stay the weekend. The carpeting in the room had some stains, though everything was clean.
Its central location, the very friendly and open staff, the charming hotel with renovated bathrooms no
The staff were most helpful and courteous. The room was elegantly furnished. The location is very central but in a quiet lane way. Breakfast was sparse but there were many lovely cafes close by, There was no lift but the staff helped carry our bags.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Well situated hotel convenient for SNCF station and sights of Avignon.
Location and front counter staff were very helpful The room was very small and noisy due to ground floor close to walkway
It was very comfortable and convenient for city sights and train/bus station. Staff very friendly and helpful and spoke English. Room very comfortable after discovering the air conditioning and very clean.
Run by a friendly husband and wife and perhaps the occasional uncle, who listened patiently to my rusty French, and even lent me their laptop. The plumbing in our room made extraordinary noises! Quite endearing actually.
pleasant staff no lift, narrow stairs, filthy dirty carpets, heating to hot or to cold, shower not working properly, very dark room no view, could not hear the tv sound was fixed, all in all very expensive we found rooms half the price during our stay, feeling ripped off, all this made for a miserable stay
Great location and super value. Very clean and the staff was very nice. A bit difficult to get to.
The location is great. The palais des papes (Pope's Palace) and all other major attractions are right around the corner (as well as several good restaurants). If you arrive by car, it is very close (about a 5 minute walk) to the large parking garage in the middle of town (les Halles). We had the breakfast they offered, and it was good and worth the money, though not exceptional. Bathroom and bed were adequate. Room was dark and painted in dark colors. I can think of no other negatives.
We stayed in a triple room and it has two separate floors (though not so spacious), which is good. The room was not clean, the bathroom has no shower curtain, there were bugs and ants in the towel. Only one fan in our room, it was too hot to fall asleep.
There are no air conditions in the room. And it was very noisy in the morning.
Being in an old mansion. Location. Winding stair in bedroom from loo/closet to bed. This is difficult to negotiate at night. So I can't recommend this room.
The room was So small...just enough room to getinto bed for one but hard for the second person.Noise al night in the next room.
Bathroom was clean and excellent and unlimited hot water - powerful, roomy shower Shortage of pillows, narrow bed, very small but cold room and every time we needed the room heater switched on we had to ask at reception
Ideal location. Helpful staff. Good value. Comfortable rooms with lovely hot water whenever needed. Good breakfast with excellent and plenty of hot coffee. We recommend it. It would have been nice to have had coffee making facilities in our room, but not having them didnn't spoil our stay.
bathroom was sparkling clean and staffs speak great english, one person even speaks little Korean, great to hear~! location was great. my baby loves stairs in the room, it was little dangerous for one year old baby though. I didnot like the carpet on the floor. and they charged for my one yer old baby about 5.xx euro. it was not big deal but bad surprise. reception closed night till morning. they gave us code to use during that time. but after all, good stay. bathroom was very clean but no shower curtain so after shower a lot of water on floor.
Central Avignon for main tourist sites. Basic cost reasonable. Breakfast very expensive at an extrsa 8 euros per person. Difficult access if touring by car.
Quirky interesting hotel. Nice, big bathroom with big, full length mirror. Very good central position with easy access to the main attractions and staff were very helpful Limited facilities in bedroom which were a bit annoying E.G. plug points in inaccessible places, no hair dryer in bathroom as stated on details when booked, no bedside tables or reading lamp by one of the beds. The very, narrow twisting staircase to the mezzanine floor would make it difficult for anyone who wasn't agile to get to bed easily! Only really suitable for children/thin people. Was noisey at night meaning the window had to be shut so was then too hot in the room.
Close to City centre Walls thin, could hear people next door and in corridor
Very impressed with the Hotel and the location. I had a room on the 1st floor overlooking a busy street during the daytime but had no trouble with noise or traffic at night. Air conditioning was a great bonus. Hotel was within easy walking distance of the famous bridge of Avignon and many eating places. Why, oh why are the bathrooms so small ?? This is not a complaint but In uk and Europe bathrooms seem to be an afterthought.
This is our second time at this hotel.Stayed here because of the location, cleanliness and lovely staff. Small bathroom,no lift but if you are travelling in France this is what you get sometimes.
The location was excellent, and the hotel staff was very warm and helpful. Also, the rates were reasonable.
Serge (owner/manager) was so accommodating. Breakfast each morning was delightful with him preparing everything. Room was comfortable, air conditioning was needed and available. Central location to almost everything everything in Avignon. A bit of a walk from the bus but persons visiting Avignon are generally good walkers. Not really applicable. Good value for price.
The proprietor and his wife were so very welcoming and very helpful when you wanted any information. The location was ideal for sightseeing. Parking nearby was free, just the other side of the town walls. The cost was very reasonable.
Excellent location in the centre of Avignon. Friendly helpful owners greeted us and gave good information about where to eat. The room had a bit of funny a smell to it. Decor could use an update.
It was friendly and very central
The staff, the proxomity to my favourite vigneron - Le Vigneron Rebelle at 3 Rue Joseph Vernet - literally 50 m away, the breakfast is basic contintental, but good size coffee and fresh croissant.Good price for a clean, tidy and cozy room in the intru muro, and v/close to Place D'Horloge/Palais De Papes... tres bien, bon marche. Wifi in Rm 4 was v.low strength/poor signeal, was ok in lobby/pettit dejeneur chambre. V/ Small bathroom anyone over 90kg /6ft would have difficulty
Friendly staff, good location, easy access to parking. Decor needs a little sprucing up.
The staff were wonderfully friendly, really lovely. Location was perfect. Free internet, which is also pretty handy. The hotel was a bit shabby but it was very clean and really quite sweet. Our room was extremely small. That said, I've stayed in bigger rooms which have been less comfortable - it was perfectly adequate, just very very small. It was more a 'budget' hotel than anything else - don't be fooled by the word 'chic' which has been used to describe it! - and I wouldn't have wanted to stay more than a night, but it was fine.
