easy to find this hotel, good services, good breakfest. too noise at night, too much pub around
Tendency to overcook fish in the restaurant
Nice to stay in a hotel that is not the same as all the others. The decor had character and the hotel had an old fashioned charm. The staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast. The location was central and close to shops and restaurants. Room rather small. Some noise from road especially cruising motor bikes and sooped up pick-ups.
The rooms are fabulously redone to reflect the period the hotel came from. Excellently refurnished and nicely appointed. Although compact, the bathroom is cute and functional while the bed and pillows were exceptional and the solid wood floors harken back to a time of steamer trunks and hat boxes. Loved the stay here. Highly functional room with modern features that remembers where the hotel came from.
The location is excellent. The hotel is old but well kept. The staff is very helpful, specially Robin. The parking is at an open lot beside the hotel. It is near the hotel but it is open to the public. I don't know about security. Nothing happened with our car, I just don't feel comfortable with these kind of open parking lots, that are very common in Canada.
Nice room, unique hotel, included breakfast, nice staff. Got a parking ticket while registering to receive the hotel parking pass! Loud at night as our room was next to the street.
I liked the style - old pictures of the town on the walls, the free breakfast, the helpful receptionists. Not so much that I didn't like it, but was quite surprised when they didn't clean the room after the 1st night, for that price.
Cleanliness of all Hotel. The breakfast was included, but it wasn´t as they describe, because on Sunday they start to serve after 8:30 a.m. and in the brochure inside the room was at 7:30 a.m., so I waked up early to leave and I didn't have my breakfast there. Also, the parking is in public area...
Nothing Everything, had I physically seeing the hotel I would not have book this hotel and I would not recommend it to my friends
Very pleasant staff, nice welcome at reception. Room very spacious and comfortable. Decor style is very traditional and cosy. Public car park immediately adjacent to the hotel which the hotel provides a free parking voucher for.
Great location, close to restaurants and adult night time entertainment,
The history of the hotel, location and price were great. The decor of the hotel was also very appeasing. We found our room very comfortable and quiet with a nice view of the hills in Kamloops.
Nice view of the River
Kayak went through a US company and we were charged US and had exchange........NOT impressed to find out later on our Visa...will not use Kayak again
Very comfortable bed. Lovely view. Wish we'd had a room with a patio . Noisy neighbors! I wish people would be considerate of others trying to enjoy their owm vacation.
- staff - location - river view - room size - barely functioning AC (stayed in Kamloops during 30*C heatwave) -got very little sleep because the room was so hot. - tried calling front desk for a fan at midnight, no answer. - rooms cleanliness questionable. I killed a spider within 5 mins of stay and curtains were disgusting. I wouldn't dare hold a black light to them. -breakfast was disappointing and barely palatable
nice clean comfortable room
Clean, efficient check in and out, friendly helpful staff.
the staff were friendly the room was excellent and the rate was amazing
The rooms very very spacious and clean. I liked the small area with fridge and extra sink. hotel was close to major thru roadways, easy acess to shopping, restaurants The lighting in the rooms over the beds were too high, glaring when relaxing and watching tv
Staff was very nice. Check in was easy and fast. Very clean. Had everything you would expect. Bed was very comfortable. Really liked the fully stocked bathroom. Booked a pool side room, paid extra for it and did not get one. Fridge and heater in room were noisey. With the amount of hotels in the area with better prices. Thia hotel should step up their game
Very clean room, friendly staff. Once we arrived and checked in, we found out that we were in the last available room on the ground floor and walked down the hall beside a meeting room and were staying in a room specifically for accommodating disabled people. The room was very clean and spacious but we were not instructed on the features of the room's doorbell for people who are hearing impaired. At around 5:00am and onward till 7:30am, we heard loud fire alarm like sounds. As people walked by and pushed the doorbell. Initially we thought that the sounds might have been a faulty fire alarm speaker. Apart from this, the breakfast was ok, the waffle bar was great, stay away from the eggs/bacon and anything along those lines. They also used paper plates and plastic cutlery as you would while at a BBQ but had no where to recycle them, just a big garbage. I know this might seem petty but I've stay in a lot of Marriot hotels and have never run into this.
The location is convenient to access to nearby shopping malls. The room is clean and with good room size. Preferably, the hot tub hours are operated till to 10:00 p.m. instead of 9:00 p.m. The operation hour from the morning scheduled to start from 7:00 a.m. but our visit to the facility at 7:15 a.m., it did not operate. So, staff should maintain operation of hotel facilities according to the scheduled hours.
Front desk clerk was terrific. Friendly and efficient Beds very comfortable We were overtop of the air exchange system and so there was a constant while noise. Still, better than intermittent
The air conditioner in the room sounds like a B-52 bomber.
The location - it was right down town. Found the hotel itself aboslutely fine in terms of facilities and design - but there was nothing "out of the ordinary". The pub served til late (1100 pm I think) which was great on arrival. Found the idea of a casino a little off putting on arrival but actually did not notice it or any noise from it thereafter. Apparently they have "Rocky Mountaineer" visitors to stay 6 nights out of 7 so the hotel gets pretty full. It was absolutely fine but nothing really different or special springs to mind. The staff were all very friendly but as we found all the staff at all the hotels we stayed at friendly and helpful even this was not "of special note". All absolutely fine - would stay here again for its convenience. Everything about the hotel was fine - no complaints at all.
The location of the hotel in the downtown area and the casino downstairs made it convenient for shopping and entertainment. There wasn't a bathtub in the suite. Front desk staff were not as friendly as I have experienced in the past at other hotels. When we were checking out the following morning, the woman had to double check our rate because she had never seen a rate that low. It made us uncomfortable.
The decor of the room and hotel were excellent along with the comfortable bed! There was no microwave in the room.
it was easy to find and in a great location for our visit to kamloops. front staff was very pleasant. i was impressed with the overall 'new' look to an old hotel. everything was great.
The local was perfect...we walked to our doctor appointment, dinner, and shopping. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very quiet and had a lovely view of the hills across the river. The only thing both my husband and I dislikes, was the pillows were so big our necks were sore in the morning. As I said, the big pillows.
very finely appointed rooms, just reno'd. great bedding, and towels.
I liked the location. The bed was comfortable and the shower accessories (bed and bath) were great. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and ready to please. . I didn't like having to pre-authorize money on my credit card and the fact that there was no ice machine on my floor.
Room was well appointed and beds were comfy The building has centralized heating that cannot be controlled at the individual room -- our room was very hot, probably in the 90F range. When we called for assistance we were essentially told to open the window. When we raised the concern again at the front desk, we were told "at least it's better than being cold". First world problem, yes, but we won't be going back.
Staff was unreal!! Had my 18month old daughter and they were so sweet to her and I. Room was comfy and they changed us no problem when we discovered there was no tub in the King solo room. Thanks!!
I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location very large, quiet, with horses and llamas on the property as well. Insiders tip - go to the golf course restaurant and have the baby back ribs, they are delicious.
It was quiet and very relaxing. The room was lovely and the staff went out of their way to be helpful. I needed a fridge for medicine, and a baby crib for the baby grandson, and they were both in our room when we arrived.
Nice, quiet room and very friendly, helpful staff. It's a 15min drive outside of Kamloops. You can have breakfast in the lounge or in your room (extra fee). The gym is pretty small, the crosstrainer does not run properly. Breakfast is nice but you don't really have a choice what to eat.
Located on some lovely acreage and situated between the river on one side an mountains on the other, the South Thompson Inn is a lovely place to stay. My night was perfectly quiet and I suspect this place is for those guests who prefer a serene environment It is quite far from the city centre, which I didn't take into account when booking the place. Because I had to be in downtown Kamloops for businessI would probably book somewhere in the city centre next time just to save the time spent driving back and forth.
Beautiful grounds and llamas! No city noises- you are out in the country here A little further out than we thought
The pillows and bed were very comfortable, the room was very nicely appointed with everything we needed, including a white noise maker. The best part was the service, on the morning of checkout we were leaving for Alberta but there were multiple road closures on our route. The three gentlemen at the front desk all did their best to find us an alternate route home, they were very helpful.
Good value. Clean. Comfortable beds. Friendly people. Fridge and microwave in room. Loud window-unit air conditioner. Free continental breakfast was just toast and muffin halves.
We stayed one night to travel further
Generally very good, slightly difficult to find though. Clean, comfortable but some road noise from the highway just outside which undermined the occasion slightly. Would recommend this hotel.
very helpful staff and one of the tidiest and cleanest hotels Ive stayed in...nice new bathroom!felt safe! excellent stopover between Whistler/Vancouver and Calgary/banff
The accomodation was adequate for the price. Clean and functional. Our room over looked the highway and also the railway line so was very noisy - take your earplugs.
The layout of the room was good, bed was comfortable, laundry facilities were good.
Clean, new updated room, large selection of choices for continental breakfast. There was loud noise from another guest in hallway early in morning, but I think it's typical for sounds to easily travel from halls into hotel rooms.
It is close to where we needed to be. No.
Newly renovated. Very comfortable. No bathroom fan
Very clean, professional staff and a very good breakfast.
It is a nice hotel.
Hotel is one of the best in the city. I paid more even though it is only 2.5 stars. Rooms are nice, place is clean, location is great in terms of driving places. Safe, secure and never had trouble with noise. Staff couldn't figure out the computer. They have a 24/7 'shop' that has really nothing in it. Pool is cold. Maid kept coming in at 9 am on day 1 of a 2 day booking with the do not disturb sign on. Walked in 3 times in under 10 min.
Price and cleanliness Road construction around the hotel.

The continental breakfast was great. It had all the necessities, plus more. We were quite impressed. The room was nice, very clean and spacious. The loud AC. It kept waking us up throughout the night. Also, the location of the room. We were directly above the main entrance and since we had to keep the window open due to the AC issues, it was quite noisy in the morning.
Cleanliness and friendly service. Continental breakfast was good and convenient for families. One guest that was staying there was miserable but that has nothing to do with the hotel.
Huge room, comfy bed, microwave and fridge. Nice staff. Free breakfast. Location not the best but still only 5-10 min drive to downtown.
very good price, friendly staff and nice pool/hut tub road and train noise
Clean Rooms, Friendly and helpful staff. The continental breakfast was lacking.
Good sleep We had repeated problems with our room keys not working.
The room was very spacious, clean, nice view, and very comfortable.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Great breakfast. Room was very nicely decorated and clean. Large bathroom. Free ice. Quiet even though we were facing the highway.
The pool, tub & fitness centre came in handy The affiliated restarant "Vittorio's" was not good standard
Decent price, clean Could hear highway noise, semi's honking their horn going up steep highway at night. Also hotel could use remodel. Room decor looks dated.
too close to highway, too noisy for sleeping, I do care this, it's a valuable hotel to whom doesn't care this
