Fordele: The bed is the most comfortable one I have slept on in a month

Ulemper: Breakfast was very limited to breads, jams, meats & cheese, cereal & yogurt. Wish they would have offered boiled eggs or other protein alternatives.

Fordele: Fantastic location, beautiful scenery and overall lovely place to stay. However, our room was at the bottom of a steep cobbled slope and my mother was unable to walk up or down it. So we used the car to go 100m to breakfast and dinner. Also some quite treacherous steps to get to dinner. So .... if mobility not an issue the definitely recommend.

Fordele: Fantastisk beliggenhed i dejlig natur - roligt - flot værelse (superiør) med spændende indretning, balkon og fantastisk udsigt. God bred seng og kæmpe badekar - unikt. Restauranten er også unik med flot velsmagende 3 retters diner hver dag - meget forskellig hver gang - vi blev her 1 dag ekstra. Morgenmad er billig og god uden at være overdådig. Venlig og hyggelig betjening - bærer præg af familieejet hotel. Stedet er tillige historisk og har mange sjove finesser i indretningen. Der er 3 søde hunde der tager imod og siger farvel hver gang man vender “hjem” efter sightseeing. Dejlig afslappet stemning også mellem gæsterne.

Ulemper: Der er intet jeg ikke synes om

Fordele: Lovely quiet location and surroundings set in the middle of forests but handy for visit to Santiago. Very good meals on the whole in very atmospheric setting. The chef attended each table and talked to the diners about the menu, quite unusual but appreciated.

Fordele: very nice place with great view

Fordele: Fabulous, beautiful place, spectacular location, stunningly beautiful room and facilities, exceptionally well renovated, great sauna, great restaurant and bar - everything was great!

Fordele: An absolutely beautiful estate out in the country yet only 15 mins by car to Santiago. Very accommodating. Dog friendly with spacious areas for pups to run and play. Breakfast and dinner available on-site.

Ulemper: Dinner being served at 9PM, just too late for us. The one night we did attend dinner it was delicious and the chef prepared a special vegetarian meal just for me. Would have attended dinner every night if it were earlier.

Fordele: Wonderful hotel: great location and you cannot find better hosts. Even the dogs took their jobs very seriously: they politely welcomed us at the parking area and guided us to the reception :-) Don't miss the dinner, it is exceptionell. A big thank you!

Fordele: The food was excellent. The restaurant serves exquisite meals and our waiter Jorge went the extra mile to inform, present recommendations and take extra steps to make our celebration extra special. Maria serving at the less formal bar was also very helpful and made us feel at home and enjoy our stay. Excellent breakfast. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The bed was very comfortable, the rooms very clean. The grounds were lovely to walk around, especially beside the river. Sitting beside the open log fire in the lounge / library was a very pleasant way to end the evening.

Fordele: Lækre værelser og rolige omgivelser, og behagelig indretning og miljø. Restauranten i høj klasse og super kompetent service, noget ud over det sædvanlige.

Ulemper: At spa området er tilkøb, og behandlingerne er dyre. TV kun på spansk, men det er jo ofte et problem. Synes beliggenheden er idyllisk rundt om bygningen, som ellers ligger tæt på boligkvarter og fabrik. Lidt langt væk, med en times gang fra centrum via trafikeret vej.

Fordele: The bedroom was lovey and well equipped

Fordele: Stayed here after walking the Camino de Santiago for six weeks and it seemed like Heaven. Total luxury and comfort. The staff was outstanding, especially Sandra, who always went "above and beyond" to ensure a great customer experience. My room was spacious, the mattress excellent, and the bathroom clean and modern. Optional breakfast buffet in their cafe included scrambled eggs and bacon! Location just a few minutes away from the cathedral was great.

Fordele: The hotel is in an excellent location, just metres from the Cathedral. So it was perfect for Camino walkers. The hotel staff were wonderful - very friendly and incredibly helpful with suggestions, bookings, etc. Our room was delightful and the bed and pillow were the best we had slept in on this trip.

Fordele: This is a charming, friendly place: spotlessly clean, beautifully laid out around a central atrium, and set in a lovely old historic building. The breakfast was excellent and the staff are so friendly!

Ulemper: There’s nothing to dislike: it’s a wonderful place.

Fordele: Overall it was a great place to stay with a nice pub right next door. We don't usually book places with included breakfast but this one was really good. There wasn't any hot food but the breakfast room was open 24 hours with cereal, cold cuts, fruit, coffee and tea. Really fit our schedule well.

Ulemper: That Monica only worked one of the days we were there. She was wonderful, very friendly and helpful.

Fordele: Great location, very clean and calm hotel. Also quite comfortable room for a family of three. Very clear communication upfront, regarding the hotel location and parking options without waiting for us to ask any questions.

Fordele: A combination of modern and rustic. Front desk staff very welcoming and helpful. Very good security. Coffee and tea available 24/7.

Ulemper: Breakfast buffet, not a buffet, more continental light. Our initial room posed many height restrictions, staff moved us the next morning to a very nice double . Shower had mold on one corner.

Fordele: Access to drinks and food all day. Great breakfast. Room was lovely and big single beds. Plus great location.

Fordele: We arrived at c. 11pm. We speak no Spanish and the duty manager no English. He enquired whether we wished to eat, phoned a local restaurant, walked us round the corner to it where a table had been laid waiting and we enjoyed an excellent (and not over-priced) dinner. This really hit the spot. First class.

Fordele: Good shower. Massive TV with excellent sound quality. Very comfortable beds.

Ulemper: The breakfast wasn't available until 8am, so I paid for something I didn't receive, as I had to leave for the airport at 8am. I couldn't find the breakfast times when I booked. 8am is too late for a start time for breakfast.

Fordele: Very convenient location in Santiago. An easy walk to the church and popular shopping and eating streets. Host was happy to respond to requests for drinks or breakfast. Parking near by.

Ulemper: Room was small but enclosed balcony served as a space for our suitcases.

Ulemper: Very modern....could not figure out how to use the shower... many jets but unable to get it to work

Fordele: Staff was so kind and pleasant and genuinely willing to assist! My single room was the perfect size to just relax and the bathroom and room was extremely tidy. I could not have asked for a more comfortable, welcoming stay after walking 800km across Spain, lol. I didn’t want to leave! Thank you for a fantastic stay!!

Fordele: 3 star hotel with 5 star service. I also stayed at a 5 star hotel in Santiago, but found it better at this hotel! Very well run, clean and pleasant staff.

Fordele: The staff were very welcoming. The hotel is located very near to the historic area and next to a very beautiful garden. Rooms are very well furnished and kept spotlessly clean. Breakfast is freshly prepared and very good. The reception staff were always helpful and well informed. I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Santiago de Compostela.

Ulemper: This is a traditional-type hotel, slightly old-fashioned, so things like toiletries are not as you get in a lot of city centre hotels these days. Breakfast is traditional Spanish café rather than buffet, but only 5 euros.

Fordele: Room was clean and bed was super comfortable. Super close to the cathedral!

Ulemper: Host was very nice and accommodating but spoke no English so it was difficult to figure out all the last minute details.

Fordele: Absolutely fantastic! If you want to relax in the Spanish countryside, with the smell of Apple Blossoms and Pear trees in the air, you are in for a great time! The host is extremely proud of his offering (as he should be), the history in the building is phenomenal, fresh potable Fountain water and fruit trees are on the line-up upon Check-in and it makes you feel right at home. I can truly recommend the residence!

Fordele: Very nice old-fashioned design, rooms are cosy. There is big cosy living room for guests with fireplace. Charm place.

Ulemper: Breakfast is ok, but some products disapeared before we came, even we came 30 minutes before breakfast end time. Wi-Fi didn't work in one of our rooms ( we took 2 rooms because we were 4).

Fordele: The hosts were amazing: friendly, helpful and caring. The food was authentic and extremely tasty and well presented. The owners gave us a tour of the place explaining historic use of building and facilities. The PERFECT way to end our Portugal/Spain Camino trip

Ulemper: Maybe a screen on window to keep mosquitoes out at night but that wasn’t how they did it in olden times and would’ve detracted from our view of the countryside. Really no complaints

Fordele: Clean, friendly, outside seating areas, lovely building. Good food. Bus to Santiago stops outside every hour, 1 euro to centre. Bus number 7 both ways.

Fordele: The owner of the place was nice and showed us around the facilities, that look very nice. The interior and exterior design looked good.

Ulemper: We got a room next to the parking and reception, so we woke up everytime someone would leave from the hotel. The bed wasn't so comfortable either...

Fordele: We booked a villa, which was really fantastic as you can put the car right in front of the door. 2 floors, 2 TVs, 2 air conditions. Good breakfast. Short way into the city.

Fordele: Great value for money. Cleanliness and breakfast was awesome. In the heart of the old town. Close to transport facilities.

Fordele: Excellent breakfast, best I have had in Spain. Extremely friendly and helpful receptionist, including helping to get laundry washed. Would definitely recommend.

Fordele: Very cool rooms! They even have coins on the stone walls of the rooms, as traditional Santiago offerings. Also perfect location to get the airport bus, in the nearby plaza de galicia.

Ulemper: Sengen var meget kort. Jeg er 165 cm og mine fødder stak ud over fodenden....

Fordele: Room was clean and big. Cooking facilities for when your fed up with eating out. She had provided newspaper for drying boots. Dehumidifier to deal with damp clothes after a rainy day. She was just lovely. Thumbs up.

Ulemper: Goody bags were a nice touch but some walkers had thrown them away later on the camino. Would have been great even without the goody bag.

Fordele: This was a fantastic stay in Santiago de Compostela for my husband & I at the completion of our 14-day Camino! The hotel is conveniently located in the historical downtown area (near the edge where the business/downtown area begins, but still within the historical streets & a few minutes' walk to the Cathedral & shops/restaurants/museums. It is also conveniently located about 10 min. easy walk to the train station, which we had to take back to Madrid. Located on the 3rd level of the building, there is elevator or stair access from a nice quiet lobby (the rest of the building seemed to be residential apartments?). The reception area of Mapoula is very nicely decorated with warm but modern décor, with a seating area around the reception desk, & then a dining area & kitchen/breakfast buffet area around the corner. Everything was very clean. Included in our stay was the continental breakfast buffet (it would have been well worth the 4€ I think it was listed separately for anyway): there is a selection of pastries & cakes (apple, Santiago/almond?, meats & cheeses, soft boiled eggs, yogurts, cereals, fresh fruit, etc. available at the buffet. They bring you fresh squeezed orange juice & a basket of freshly toasted breads & croissants to your table. The mugs for hot tea & coffee are in a heated carousel. Everything was immaculately clean & service was great. The only very slight negative here was they only put a small amount of fresh fruit out. My husband wanted a banana but the second day noticed someone had taken the last (only?) one (& actually ended up not finishing it!)...to their credit we didn't ask them for more, & perhaps they would have brought more out if we did. Our room was just off the reception area, through an extra door/small entry area, along with another room. The lighting was automatic & bright, which I love (some hotels are so dark & dim). In the room, everything was very modern, yet cozy (love the one stone accent wall). There was air conditioning & recessed ceiling/behind the bed lighting. The bathroom was larger than most we had stayed at throughout our Camino (we stayed in hostals & pensions, not albergues!) & everything was immaculate, comfortably decorated, great water pressure/heat in the shower, lighting overhead as well as the vanity area, etc. (Here the one small negative was their towels, white medium/large bath towels with Mapoula stiched/printed across the bottom in red letters, were a little old. You could see the fraying begin around the edges of the ones we had day 1 & 3 of our stay. Day 2 the towels they gave us were a little newer. Everything was very clean, though.) Our room window had 2 layers of shutters, inside sheer curtains & outside automatic shutters (as are customary in Spain). There were no views since we were close to other buildings, but being on the 3rd level, we could see across the small pedestrian alley to a rooftop & no windows directly across. Also, laundry service was a plus!

Fordele: It's clean and quiet, The room was big and had enough room. The staff was helpful and friendly. It's near public transportation also.

Fordele: Rooms were modern and stylish. Shower was powerful with tons of hot water. The property is in a great location to access all that Santiago de Compostela has to offer. Plenty of choice for breakfast, with freshly squeezed orange juice every morning, what's not to like

Fordele: An excellent basic hotel, perfectly situated on the edge of Santiago's old town. If you are looking for 4 star comforts then maybe it is not for you but if want a convenient, friendly and value for money base to explore a lovely old city then this is perfecr.

Ulemper:

Fordele: Very central and convenient both for all the sights of the old city and the shops of the new town.

Fordele: Central, easy to find, well-run and efficient. The room was'interior' so no view at all but extremely quiet.

Ulemper: Room was basic, though fair for this type of hostal. The single room was overpriced,for the quality of the room, but this is always the case when compared to doubles or twins.
