Free airport pick up and drop off. They also picked me up from the Rail Station. Very good service, I appreciate
I like that it's so close to down town and yet because of the river is very relaxing. It also has a great walk around the island. Older hotel overall. But they have done a good job working around it with little room updates
Loved the view and location. Room was spacious and had accomodations for two or more people nicely. The soaps and shampoos were restocked as needed. The extra blanket in the closet had bugs in it both live and dead. The bathtub had silverfish in it daily. The ac unit made a very loud buzzing noise for the first 30 or so minutes after it was turned on. And the toilet would only fully flush about every third time.
Spacious rooms Front desk understaffed & some staff not adequately trained on procedures & customer service
What I liked about Red Lion on the River was that it was next to the river, away from the business of downtown. I liked that our room was readily available to the exit, gym, and tennis court. What I didn't like about Red Lion on the River was when I first checked in I asked about an upgrade and I was charged for a room that was not only already booked but was incorrectly told the price for the upgrade and got charged $140 more. During that time I obviously wanted to correct the error but the hotel associate that was helping me did not know what to do and did not report or ask for help initially and was just answering phone calls right in front of me instead of fixing the problem. Plus, I could have been left with this wrongful charge if I had not said anything. The other staff that were free to help at the time ignored what was going on when they clearly saw that I was upset. I was then told I had to call my bank to cancel the charge, but I don't understand how or why the associates at the registrar could not fix the problem by returning the money back to my card. After I called my bank and fixed the problem myself, there wasn't really any remorse or compensation from the staff regarding this whole ordeal. I don't want this to happen to any other guest, so I hope this helps to prevent any mix up with upgrading and with customer service because I did not appreciate of it while at my stay here.
Room was large and recently remodeled. View from the patio was great. Would have been convenient to have a late checkout.
We wanted to have a better room than the one given to us as a river facing one... especially to have fresh air. Lorkeya, at the front desk, did a terrific job and upgraded us to a terrific suite that just made the stay truly incredible. Lorkeya - you ROCK!!!
Clean rooms and friendly service. Hand soap was available in a push dispenser in the bathroom, and shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner were also in dispensers in the shower. The room (a standard double with two queen beds) was fairly spacious, much bigger than at other hotels charging the same price. I used the free airport pick-up and drop-off, which was very convenient with a little planning (it leaves on the hour and you generally schedule it in advance). My complaints concerning the Red Lion on the River are minor. Room-hallway soundproofing wasn't great -- I could hear anything in the hallway at or above moderate volume. No fans in the bathroom but post-shower condensation vanished once the door was opened. I could have used more outlets for convenient charging of my devices.
Nice rooms Barking dog in the hall
The staff was very accommodating
Convenient location, some rooms water view fair resturant, no bed spreads I like that. They demand to run your credit card for $25.00 for incidentals. It wlil be credited back to your card with in nine days. Should be mentioned before booking on their kayak advertising , would have been a deal breaker for me.
Even though I didn't have a room facing the river, I was at the far end of the hotel and had trees which cooled the room down a bit...and I loved being able to open a patio door for the breeze! I was a little disappointed that the check in person failed to mention that my assigned room was at the opposite end of the check in area...An extremely long walk after retrieving my suitcase out of the car...however there was an elevator entrance just outside my room at the far end of the parking lot that I was able to take advantage of after returning from dinner with a friend...I just wish people would think one step ahead in order to make life a bit easier.
Online it looked like they had a pool but it was a large spa hot tub
I guess I could say that the breakfast was okay. It was alright until the point that the fire alarm went off. Me and my companion where in the room when we hear a loud siren and it was the fire alarm. We had to evacuate the building into the freezing New Years night, with everyone else. It was so cold that for the 30 minutes that we had to wait outside for the fire department to tell us it was okay to go in, we had to wait in our car. The worst part was that no one from the staff even apologized for the discomfort. That was my experience and it wasn't all that pleasant.
quiet, clean, great staff, large room Directv was a plus. redoing rooms, room was under construction toilet paper roll on counter no dispenser, no facial tissue. breakfast was cold and little options.
Over the past two-three years, renovations have been good quality. The above-counter sinks in bathrooms splash water all over counter & user. Although you cannot control the outer perimeter of your property, we will not be staying with you in the future because of the drug dealing, homeless persons lingering, & crime being committed behind your facility. Our room was #240, and we witnessed drugs being used/sold, a female's car being trashed, and many more questionable activities in & about the area between your property & the Days Inn. Please share my comments with the PPD & the current political administration since they are not offering any viable solutions to Portland's homeless population. Portland was once a great place my wife & I loved to visit (we spent $3K+ this trip), but never again. Gary
Great value for quality of room and services offered. Cold lights in the hotel room.
The costumer service was good. We had to move rooms at 2:30am because the air conditioner was not working and we woke up in a pile of sweat. This did allow for a good night sleep.
The room was spacious and seemed clean. The bed was comfortable and clean. The whole room spelled of mildew. The walls were thin and we could hear our neighbors. A youth sports team had a meeting outside our door in the hallway. Housekeeping began vacuuming early in the morning in the room next door. It was hard to sleep and I'm a heavy sleeper.
The rooms we saw were a good to great size and the breakfast was very good. The sofa bed in our suite was a very thin mattress and the staff blamed me for a 1 hour wait for an airport shuttle that they promised would be 15 minutes.
How affordable it was I wish they had a gym
Friendly staff and huge comfy room! Nothing!
Everything was excellent. Customer service, hotel, room and breakfast. Nothing
The staff were super friendly and accommodating. We took advantage of the continental breakfast as well as the free evening drinks (on tap beer or wine for adults, soda for kids). The kids loved the pool and hot tub. There was also a spa and sauna we didn't have time to utilize. Located near food places and shopping (Target, Burlington). The food they make there is very reasonably priced as well as delicious. A hotel shuttle brought us to and from the Tri Met (local train transportation) so we could zip around Portland with ease. Honestly, I don't have any. Maybe make the checkout time noon instead of 11:00? 11:00 is reasonable though.
First visit to Portland. Staff friendly and shuttle service very helpful. Great breakfast buffet. Nice workout facility. Definitely will choose Oxford suites for my next visit.
Outstanding customer service and the Breakfast buffet was amazing!
room was clean, all things in working order, good water pressure in shower could not access an on-screen channel guide, despite the card indicating there was one. I think price was high for the room.
Clean rooms. Comfortable Bed. Clean linens. Extra pillows. Quiet. Staff walked into room without knocking even with do not disturb sign on door; wife was getting dressed and it was overall very embarrassing. Only apology was offered by front desk when brought to their attention. Location seems somewhat run down.
Breakfast, friendly staff, free parking The two drink minimum and the soup that ends at 7:30 pm. Embassy Suites gas no limit on free drinks and they occasionally have free popcorn for kids
Kids making to much noise.
Roomy room with nice sitting area, fridge, microwave, work space, good accessible outlets for chargers, quiet and even on the first floor near a door for easy in/out. All very clean and fresh. Mattress tops too soft, gave me a back-ache, and the all-synthetic filling makes the bed "sleep warm," for me, too warm. WiFi login kept kicking me off after only a minute or two -- seems like they have a one-device-per-room limit or something. Pretty annoying.
Close to stores and restuarants and not far from airport Ice machine didn't work on my floor
Updated room, liked the kitchen area. The breakfast was fine. Getting to the place was a bit challenging, lots of cars parked on the street making it narrow and they are building more places around it but there was enough hotel parking
Great Room Hard to find, tricky parking, too small for big trucks
General central location is convenient, rooms were clean (albeit a tad outdated) and very roomy. A little difficult to find, even with GPS. Rooms on the west side may suffer from highway noise. Few restaurants in the area, even though there are several large hotels adjacent. TV's are older tube style. Seriously?
the room itself was clean. The cleaning staff do the best with what they have. this is NOT a 3 star facility. it is very 'rough' and beat up. the parking was poor. it was hard to find.
Good location and great deal on a 2 room suite. I could smell that someone had cooked in the unit although everything was very clean.
Large comfortable clean suite, nice staff, beautiful updates.
Location was great to go to Expo. Unfortunately the walls were discolored do to years of not being painted. The carpets were newer but the TV's were still the old type with terrible visual quality. Beds old n soft. In general this entire hotel needs a freshen up, its tired!

It was the perfect room at the perfect price!
negative staff particularly the manager. also provided a crispy blanket
Nothing, staff lies every step of the way. This is the filthiest hotel I have ever stayed in. 3 stars?? I think not. MOLD all over the shower, thick dust on the blinds in the breakfast area. Management will do nothing to compensate you except move you to a lower floor you don't want to be on.
The staff were very nice and helpful. The bed was comfortable. The hotel was clean. The morning breakfast was not up to par with many other hotels that offer the same kind of breakfast. The waffles were rubbery and the sausage tasted awful and was like eating sausage flavored card board. They ran out of orange juice.
TV didn't work.
The staff was incredibly accommodating. The location is also amazing. The motel is across the street from a train station, right next to a lovely little park, and within walking distance from the Mississippi District. Even though my room was nonsmoking, it still smelled a bit like smoke. Not enough to give me a headache, the way smoke typically does, but enough to be noticeable when you step into the room. The wifi is decent, though nothing amazing.
The price Everything else
Staff was nice. Place was dumpy. Crusty bathroom walls. musty smell.
Quiet location, clean room
The beds are not very comfortable, the toilet ran all night, and the fridge was noisy. But you get what you pay for!
The location was central to two separate districts When pulling up to this quaint little spot, you notice the horrid tacky neon sign - and you know you're about to have a bad time. Once arrived, my girlfriend and I were just trying to check into the facility for what our online reservation was for. The desk clerk proceeded to tell us that we were going to have to pay an additional 20 dollars to reserve the room and at that point during the night we didn't have another option. Although I must admit it was incredibly difficult to understand what the clerk was saying through missing teeth and a drunken slur. After much irritation we agreed, only to have our card charged multiple times because the receipt paper wasn't working correctly to which the employee thought the answer was to keep charging until it finally printed. We were both disgruntled and thought the awful experience was over, just wanting to get some rest. Subsequently - we were woken up at 9 a.m. To the sound of leaf blowers - that insisted to go on for over an hour. Their water is murky, the wifi is garbage and the staff is god awful. Represents their business practices. Stay away. TLDR: worst hotel/motel/airbnb/couch surf ever
It was close to a business meeting I had which was great otherwise, just the sign. Tv was small, built up dust in corners and along easy to clean areas, no plug for the tub, so no relaxing bath, almost slipped on the stairs and furniture looked like it was from an alley and out dated. Sorry just my experience and opinion.
Could not have visitors room desk clerk bad night service
Friendly and accommodating staff, clean and spacious rooms, very affordable, excellent location right next to a park and a railway stop, only a short walk to Mississippi Ave neighborhood Minor inconvenience of the fan automatically turning on when the light turns on in the bathroom
Not much to like. Room smelled very strongly like smoke. Not too clean. Overall, what I would expect for the price. I immediately wished that I paid up for a nicer place to spend the night.
$70 a night for two comfortable beds, and clean room in a great location on up and coming Interstate Ave. One of several good deal hotels on Interstate that represent some of the best values in central PDX.
Not a short coming insight. I'm on the road half of every year. I've been everywhere man. When you say lets go back home and you meant to say hotel, that says a lot.
Reliable hotel near the airport Didn't have any washcloths. The location is pretty sketchy.
Too loud close to freeway onramp with plenty of loud trucks... Noise
The hotel is nice, clean, great facilities and seems decently located. We used the gym while we were there but didnt get to try out the pool. The check in staff was obviously having a bad day, too bad he let it show. Also the boiler broke, from Saturday around 5pm and didn't get fixed. I took a warm shower Saturday night but since it was still not fixed Sunday morning, left disappointed. They refunded my fee though. It was just tough luck but otherwise this is a decent place.
Food available on site in resturant plus snacks. Coffee was weak.
Comfy beds, sauna, hot tub, not too far from St. John's. I was kept up most of the night by the people upstairs. Maybe it's an old building? I've stayed here a few times and had the same experience. ONLY stay on the top floor or bring good ear plugs
Loved the location. We thought it was going to be too far away from downtown. But it was only about a 10 minute drive. And we loved how it was tucked back. We had no complaints.
Rooms are large and spacious. There is a separate area with a couch and desk. Friendly front desk staff. Lots of free parking. Location was a little difficult to find initially. My GPS kept having me go in circles.
This hotel is in a industrial neighborhood so it was relatively quiet with the exception of the jets flying overhead. Parking was easy and our room was very nice and clean. Staff was helpful. The breakfast bar was disappointing. The eggs served tasted like they came out of a cardboard box. No flavor and overcooked to boot.
Location was great, very clean and well maintained property No
The staff was very nice. The location was close to the freeway and to shopping. The view from the rooms are either the roof of the carport or the roof of the outlet mall in front or back. That was disappointing and the original room we were in was right by the elevator and we could hear it going up and down all the time.
Everything is done right at this hotel! We were allowed by an extremely friendly front desk lady to check in early. I cannot stress enough how pleasant the staff is. The rooms are very clean, well lit, and provide plenty of space. Ample breakfast bar.
easy to find there were not very many vegan options for breakfast
Room quality Pancake machine was weird
Extremely friendly staff and room was very clean.
It's clean, the beds and pillows. I feel comfortable walk in the floor with out stocks its really clean. No everyone was nice there at that time.

Convenient location to downtown and clean. Location is save and Starbucks is close by, hahaha. The staff was not interested in the customer at all, just there to take the money and that is it. The MOST disappointing part was the internet strength or the lack thereof. If you need internet service go to the starbucks only a few blocks away.
good location friendly staff, right on public trans. cl line, room was clean bed was comfy.
Friendly staff. Clean room.
The room was clean. That's really pretty much it. After waiting about 10 minutes for the clerk to finish taking phone reservations (and apparently being unable to do anything else in parallel), we were able to check in, and we went to find out room. However, we discovered that the hotel/truck stop/whatever was hosting a classic car show (which the clerk didn't bother telling us about, nor were we informed ahead of time). About 2/3 of the parking lot was roped off for the event, including all of the parking that was anywhere near the building where our room was, and we had to go back to the check-in desk to ask where we should park and how to even get to our room. His solution: walk (with luggage) through the car show, around the sound stage (because the entrance to the building was fenced off), and through the neighboring truck refueling station's parking lot... Only to find that there wasn't even an elevator to help get our bags up to our second floor room. We later discovered a safer passage through a strange back-alleyway behind the hotel and marketplace (that for some reason either the staff didn't know about or didn't bother informing us about), but it was only slightly less inconvenient. But, for the cherry on top, we were awoken at about 7am by the blaring PA system and the rev of big-block engines right outside our closed window. I like classic cars and all, but this was not good. The only plus about this place was that the room was cleaner than I was expecting, but this isn't anywhere near a big enough plus to bring me back (unless I take up long-haul trucking and find myself needing somewhere to sleep on the OR-WA border).
Location, staff and price.

This hotel is brand new. ILove the way it is laid out and where is located. Staff is friendly. I'd they can maintain the rooms this will be a must start for me when the price is in my budget.
If you want to be close to NE Portland and DT, this is a great option. Great value for a clean room with kitchenette. If you prefer a shiny suburban setting, you may not like the location. We loved it and will definitely stay there again.
Lots of flowers, everyone very kind
Great location and great owners! Clean, and comfortable.
