You get a little bit of beach and a little bit resort and a little bit local town, all in one great, compact resort...though it is not small by any means. Great breakfast! Nope. Liked it all a great deal.
Excellent location, access to beach, pools, included breakfast Extremely loud and weak air conditioner. Terrible shower with extremely weak water pressure.
Front desk staff was not friendly and did not try to be accommodating to family traveling together. We had booked two rooms but was given two rooms that were on opposite ends of the resort.
The location was great, the facilities were mostly cleaned (except for the one item I'll address in the next section), the staff was fairly helpful and we always felt secure. About half of the breakfast items were uncovered so flies were constantly around or on the fruits and pastries. They clearly put a lot of effort into the morning preparation so I don't understand why they would leave so much of it uncovered. The hotel restaurant was pretty bad. The free breakfasts were good (except for the flies) but the lunches and dinners were very poor. The menu looks great but the actual food itself seemed very low quality. Luckily the hotel is surrounded by good restaurants so the poor hotel restaurant was not a huge issue for us.
Location, location ,location Food was great A/c was very weak even after staff adjusted it. Beds outdated
Everything was excellent but the food, which was just ok - except the fresh Red Snapper we caught off shore that the hotel chef prepared Casado style. Clearly the highlight resort facility at Tamarindo, the staff was prompt, courteous, and attentive. We found excellent food an easy walk away, both beachfront brew house, fish shack, sushi, and high end seafood. The complimentary breakfast and beach front bar food were average.
Location is perhaps the most convenient in Tamarindo, the outdoor facilities by the beach are pretty ay-ok The staff wasn't very accommodating / helpful. The king suite with balcony -- which seemed to be the nicest room available -- was mediocre. Quite a boring hotel experience overall for $250/night.
Felling of being safe and close to beach Nothing
Resort was very nice and in a great location. Room was clean and right on the beach. Staff was friendly and very helpful. No guests are allowed in rooms.
Nothing The place was disgusting, I should had listen to reviews bout rooms not being clean but I gave it the benefit of doubt. First the pillows had hair on them, the towels in the bathroom were like stain with paint or something and worse part is the bathroom smelled like week old sweaty clothes( not exaggerating). There was a shirt hanging on curtains from previous guest. There was a fridge but it didn't work! I left the place, there was no way I could sleep there let alone shower and use those towels. The pics are deceiving and I don't know who reviewed this place but my experience was. Awful!
Kevin and the staff were fantastic. From start to end they were so welcoming, helpful, and friendly. The breakfast every morning really started the day out correctly. So good! The rooms are amazing and the whole chill, chic, vibe of the place made for a great complement to the Tamarindo experience. A little oasis from the beach and the town. Seeming complaint at first is really a strength; little tricky to get to but the map they provide is immensely helpful. Nice that it's a street or two away from the main strip.
Really charming place and really helpful staff. Great value. WOuld go back for sure. no complaints
Nice pool. Small size. close to the beach. decent price ($124 for 3 people in Nov, including breakfast) Nice staff. breakfast was okay.
Arco Iris had a great feel to it. The pool is very nice. Richard is a super cool guy and is extremely friendly. We had to leave at 4:00 am to catch our flight and Richard gave us some fruit, muffins, and juice. He offered that up without us even asking. We were very happy with the location. You are just far enough from the noise of the main street, but still able to walk to everything. The beach is maybe a 5 minute walk. There is a walking path from the hotel to a road with tons of great restaurants. If you feel like staying in for a nice meal, they lease their dining space to one of the best restaurants in Tamarindo, Seasons by Shlomy. We traveled to 4 different cities in Costa Rica and this hotel was our favorite by far. The air conditioner in our room was kind of weak. It worked a little better at night. We weren't around much during the day so it didn't bother us much.
We had a room right by pool. We were assured the pool would be closed at 10:00 pm. People kept us up until 3:00 am. A few hours later it was loud people outside the door and shortly thereafter were cleaning ladies with trash cans making their rounds. It was horrible. I didn't stay the other two nights I booked and was told they weren't responsible for returns since I purchased with a third party. When my third party tried to reach them, they didn't answer all day.
I really liked the location of the hotel, even though it wasn't directly on the beach. But it was right in front, less than a 10 minute walk!! The pool area has a beautiful view of the beach to relax and enjoy. The reception office is a bit of a walk to get to but they are all helpful. They gave me advice regarding traveling by bus. The room is nicely decorated and the shower is pretty big! The bed was a tad small but overall great room. I didn't like that you couldn't order room service, or I did not know how. I also didn't like the size of the bed but I understand I booked by third party so bed type isn't guaranteed.
The staff was very nice and the pool area pretty chill The B&B is located on a back street (dirt road) which is pretty creepy by night. I was told it was ok but I didn't feel ok walking after dark there. The room was nice but some of the finishing were not well done (holes where bugs crawled under)
We have been to El Sabanero 6 times already and would not consider another location to stay. Harold, Susi, Kurt and Donald make you feel like part of the family and we always leave El Sabanero with new friends with whom we have interacted. The serenity of the lodge in the hills and the proximity of the beaches and activities make this an ideal place to stay when in Costa Rica.
