Fordele: The staff efficiently and pleasantly performed their duties to perfection. We were made to feel welcome and assured of good care. Excellent all around

Ulemper: I can not think of a thing I wish different. Completely satisfied

Fordele: The professionalism of staff, other than the cleaning ladies... the lounge manager and her team running the lounge area near the window seating who really looked after us with a delicious club sandwich, on arrival as we chatted to other guests as we waited for our room : the front desk team and concierge (v impressive awards and medals!) including David, our limosine driver who immaculately picked us up and welcomed us to our new life in Switzerland. This was excellent unpretentious and respectable service, throughout . Totally enjoyed our stay.

Ulemper: Dining options were limited, it being a Sunday but room service and lounge service more than made up for this. Food was excellent. Unfortunately, when we were taken to our room (I was on crutches, too) it wasn't ready. It was very embarrassing for the front desk colleague who accompanied us. The housekeeping ladies were having their own fun on their own time, changing bed linen, dropping it in passageway etc and not picking dirty dressing gowns, up.We sat waiting, next to them as a new room was being sourced that was ready. They carried on laughing and joking in their home language, right in front of us. I was appalled by this. It took us by surprise. It felt like they were working in a value level hotel. They seemed oblivious to the proud standards of the rest of the hotel team who were exemplary. They just stepped over things and carried on. First impressions were really not good at this point.

Fordele: Stille og roligt område. Blev taget rigtig godt imod. Var stresset da jeg ankom til hotellet. Skønt at kunne slappe af i karbad. Fantastisk service, hvor man mærker at servicen betyder meget for ejerne. Jeg fik et glas vand en stol at sidde på som det første da jeg ankom, en lille sniksnak, så jeg kunne falde til ro og derefter nøglen og hjælp med bagagen op til værelset. Frisk skåret frugt til morgenmad. Godt stort værelse med godt internet, så det er muligt at arbejde fra værelset. Værelset duftede rent og var med nydelig moderne indretning

Fordele: The staff were absolutely top class and friendly! They even dropped me off to the train station!!!

Fordele: The closest Hotel to the Fair of basel. Clean and spacious. I will definitely come back again.

Fordele: Our hosts were exceptional! They went out of their way to assist us. Our stay in Basel was comfortable and the hotel is close to trams and buses, restaurants and cafes. There was even a carnival up the road which had a fun and festive feel to it.

Fordele: Morgenmaden var virkelig god. Beliggenheden var perfekt. Det bedste hotel i Basel, vi har boet i og vi har prøvet flere.

Fordele: Very helpful and polite staff.

Fordele: Very convenient location next to the train station, but also tram stops. The centre of Basel and Christmas markets are a short comfortable tram ride away and the hotel gave us Basel cards which enables public transport travel. Rooms are spacious and bathroom felt new. The bed was very comfortable and windows are sound proof. Breakfast was exceptionally good.

Ulemper: We came down for breakfast at a busy time and had to wait for a table.

Fordele: Great breakfast, big room

Fordele: Great location, very comforts rooms, excellent breakfast.

Fordele: The staff was professional, curteous, multi-lingual, and the front desk was always staffed. The hotel was amazingly generous with coffee, wine and snacks available throughout the day and evening. I also had free access to a computer and internet and a quiet place to settle in and work near the coffee, wine and snacks. A variety of international newspapers and magazines were available as well. Within just a few hundred yards I found the Marketplace, filled with shops, restaurants, and an art museum with an impressive collection of impressionist paintings (my favorite) was also just a 10 minute walk away. Did I mention there was free coffee, wine and snacks?

Fordele: Lots of nice touches, staff made you feel at home, helped with planning, reasonable small breakfast. Very short walk to major pedestrian street shops and restaurants. Nice garden to sit out in good weather.

Ulemper: Nothing

Fordele: Central to the Christmas markets. Great meeting longe for large groups. Free evening cocktail.

Ulemper: Next to busy street, but windows very well insulated for sound.

Fordele: Bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was really good - tasty and good variety of foods (lots of healthy choices mixed with sweet options/ classics). Staff was super friendly and helpful.

Ulemper: The twin room was a bit to small for two people. There was no hot water in the room (only coffee machine), we had to go to the basement to make a tea.

Fordele: Very nice and clean hotel. Location is great, closed to old city. Service and breakfast are nice.

Fordele: Super helpful staff. Great location for the city but out of the melee; tranquil garden terrace. Great breakfast; nice touch with the honesty bar for a night cap.

Ulemper: I liked everything.

Fordele: They have very nice garden, you can relax. We had delicious breakfast. Location is good. Room is comfartable.

Fordele: Fra check-in til afrejse, en fremragende oplevelse. Hotellet ligger bogstaveligt talt overfor togstationen. Det er en dejlig gåtur til den gamle bydel og floden. Og en hurtig trolleytur tilbage med det medfølgende gratis bykort. Værelset var stort og veludstyret. Badeværelset var pletfrit, veludstyret og med stor brusekabine. Den inkluderede morgenmad var lækker og tilbød et godt udvalg serveret i den smukke spisestue.

Ulemper: Intet. Dette hotel var fantastisk.

Fordele: Excellent breakfast, enormous choice of food, and friendly staff on hand to help with any special requests.

Fordele: The location couldn’t be better; the staff couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. They do achieve their motto: arrive as a guest and leave as a friend.

Ulemper: Rooms were not well lit

Fordele: The location was great and we enjoyed the breakfast.

Ulemper: The walls seemed thin - we could hear the neighbors right next door.

Fordele: The location was good and the staff very friendly and efficient. There was a Swiss restaurant next to the hotel which the staff recommended, and the food was delicious. The beer nice too. Läderach, my favorite chocolate in the world, has a location in the train station across the street from the hotel. Perfect!

Ulemper: The room was pretty small - which I selected because we only had a one night stay over. As we were across from the train station- which I also selected and knew in advance - the cable cars/trans kept coming and going late into the evening and again early the next morning. So, this is a pretty active area and a bit noisy.......

Fordele: After the second stay, Gaia is now my favorite hotel in Basel!

Fordele: Very clean, modern and comfortable but full of Swiss old world charm! Rooms are spacious, lots of storage,comfortable beds,good lighting,large bathroom. Very well equipped and extremely clean and quiet. Location is perfect,walk to both Christmas markets and tram at door. Stay includes free bus / tram pass! Staff is genuinely nice and helpful. Great breakfast buffet for 16 francs.

Fordele: Good proximity to old town. Lovely receptionist, very helpful. Very comfortable bed.

Ulemper: Noise from traffic and tram. We had a bedroom on the corner by a busy junction so not conducive to a good nights sleep.

Fordele: Very pleasant stay, amyzingly warm, helpful, competent staff. All facilities good (but didn't have time to test the gym :-( ). Really good breakfast. A sincere thank you to the staff for making my stay so enjoyable and restful. I also benefitted from a free upgrade which was really kind. Finally, the "tea and espresso" machine in the bedroom, and the complementary dosettes, were really appreaciated, as were the fruit and flavoured waters in the lobby.

Ulemper: Lift, corridoor and rooms spotless and fully functional but a little "old-looking" - really not a problem but a bit surprising all the same.

Fordele: It was in a good location. We had a corner room overlooking the city gate, so the view was pretty, but a bit noisy. The hotel was comfortable and the staff very welcoming. The only thing that needs upgrading are the towels. They were very thin and scratchy. Theven old town area was very charming, especially since we were there during the holidays. I would stay at this hotel again if in the area.

Fordele: Great service. Free public transport and discount for many museums and the zoo was included in our stay. Very big and comfy bed. Great with some toys for the children in the game room

Ulemper: It was very warm in our room. Noisy water pipes from the room above. Small and slow elevator

Fordele: Nice large room. Very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. Great location. Included Tram day passes, but most sites were walkable. Convenient to riverboat docks.

Ulemper: It was noisy at night if the window was open, but quiet with it shut.

Fordele: The hotel is not in the center but not at all far and in a good position to arrive by car or by public transportation. Once you have the free transportation card you can enjoy the city. The room are modern but not too much, comfortable and the bathroom is quite big. Staff is always available to help and kind. So in general I can suggest the hotel to others

Fordele: I appreciated their service of soft drink anytime available at the reception area. There is the supermarkets at next door.

Fordele: I booked this hotel after my flight was cancelled. It exceeded my expectations as it had a few perks such as a free Basel Card and 24 hour coffee bar. The check in was seamless and the staff very helpful. The hotel was spotless. The bed was very comfortable and they had in room coffee and fridge. There were a few restaurants nearby and we choose Italian which was very good. There is a large mall nearby however I wished I had the time to have visited it. It was a quick and easy walk to the tram which was free with the Basel Card. Only 4 stops to the Old Town. Very convenient. I would definitely stay here again.

Ulemper: No airport transfer. It cost 55 CHF to get to the airport at 5:00 AM. This was the only negative.

Fordele: Værelset var rent, komfortabelt og havde ganske moderne møbler. Personalet var venligt og hjælpsomt. Meget god morgenmad inkluderet i værelset.

Ulemper: Værelset havde ikke aircondition. Var nødt til at bruge en lille trappe til at komme til vores værelse, hvilket var tungt med bagage.

Fordele: The hotel upgraded us, which was a very nice (although probably just lucky) touch. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and spoke a perfect english. The structure is beautiful.

Ulemper: The only downside is that the building is old and there are no elevators/lifts.

Fordele: Complimentary water, tea and coffee in the room. On check in a free Basel card is received which is really useful as it provides 50% off entry into main attractions and free public transport! The staff were friendly and helpful.

Ulemper: Small room with scuffs and marks on the wall and furniture. Fridge in the room smelt and there was a sewage smell from the bathroom which only went following airing of the room. The breakfast was not good with a limited selection of options.

Fordele: The location to the Christmas markets, the helpfulness of the staff. The breakfast was also lovely. Would recommend.

Fordele: Breakfast was exquisite, great selection of high quality food. Location is perfect, just on top of Old Town, on a tram line, both central and quiet and the same time, in a picturesque street. The hotel's design is minimalistic, smart and neat. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Ulemper: There is no parking on the premises, but the hotel has a valet service that will take care of stowing your car. Really hard to find anything to complain about.

Fordele: Breakfast was excellent, and the staff in the breakfast room very friendly and helpful. Also the reception staff was great, they helped us with the lugage, since the hotel does not have lift

Ulemper: For the price we payed, I would expect a bigger room.

Fordele: Morgenmaden var super - lækkert brød - frisk frugtsalat - der blev fyldt op hele tiden, så buffeten ikke kom til at se 'afgnavet' ud. Alt var perfekt.

Ulemper: Jeg kan ikke sige et ord negativt!

Fordele: Didn't have breakfast. Liked the rooms. Comfy bed Good shower. Nice decor.

Ulemper: Expected there to be facilities for tea and coffee in the room. It is important to be able to start the day with a coffee. It is off-putting that there were no facilities for this.

Fordele: I can't imagine a hotel being more central. It was basically at the Christmas market with all the stalls just outside the hotel door. Rooms were spacious and soundproof. Cozy lobby with a bar.

Ulemper: There are no breakfast tables as such: there is one large common table that sits 10 people, the rest have to sit in lounge armchairs and use coffee tables.

Fordele: Great location, quiet room.

Fordele: Morgenmaden havde alt, hvad hjertet kunne begære - og mere til. Dejlig at gå til efter en god nats søvn. Brusekabinen har jeg aldrig set magen til! Gulvet var af et materiale, der var så skridsikker, selv med sæbe på! Af 6 stjerner får det ... 7!

Ulemper: Beregnet til par - jeg var der alene. Én stol, et lille rundt sofabord! Ikke nok! Jeg havde planlagt at arbejde, ikke muligt ved det lille bord! Intet klædeskab, men tre små designede hylder, hvor det øverste sad for højt! Jeg havde 4 overnatninger, så synet irriterede dagligt!! Slet slet ikke nok, hvis der havde været et par. ØV for designeren i dette tilfælde :-((

Ulemper: Dårlige parkeringsforhold

Fordele: Super hotel. lokation og komfortmæssigt super. Moderne hotel både design og funktionalitet.

Ulemper: Manglede strygejern, men fik leveret til døren kl. 7am så var alt godt.

Fordele: Super fint moderne værelse med god udsigt. Relativt tæt på motorvejen, så det var et hurtigt fint stop på vejen hjem.

Fordele: The staff are super helpful, the room is modern (shower, lighting, etc) and has wonderful views. Very close to the main city center and tram right outside for getting around easy. Could not recommend enough!

Ulemper: The location was not as centrally as our first impression was (we had to change 2 trams to get to the Christmas market). Claraplatz though is just a few minutes on foot!

Fordele: I was impressed with this hotel. First of all I arrived at 10am and was informed by the lively red haired lady at the reception that my room was ready, so I was allowed to go in. That was very appreciated. I had a single room, and upon booking I asked whether they had rooms with baths (not usually the case for a single room) and upon entering the room...I find my bath :) Single room was perfect size with a free mini bar. Upon checking in I was given a transport card to travel for free (even to the airport if needed). When I was there it was raining and I found the additional umbrella (the big ones) to be very useful instead of the pocket umbrella that I had. Bed was very comfortable and so were the pillows. Everything was perfect. Will surely return if I visit Basel again. Location is 4 tram stops from SBB train station and tram stops just less than a minute walk from the hotel. Inside they have a monitor to tell you the waiting time for nearby buses and trams so if t is too cold or raining you could wait at the hotel. The lady at check out (short bob hair) was so lovely and seemed genuinely interested in striking up a conversation. Overall 10+

Fordele: We had an unexpected check-in when the room that we booked had been given to another customer. But the hotel went out of their way to make up for the mistake by offering us dinner, drinks, and ultimately Sunday brunch on the house. The staff were exceptional - beyond friendly and accommodating - and really made our stay a true pleasure.

Fordele: Best hotel in Basel, my first choice for every trip

Fordele: My boyfriend and I arrived for a weeklong business trip and were treated with care and consideration from the start. We didn’t realize that the room we had reserved had no refrigerator (a requirement so we don’t have to eat all our meals in restaurants, and to store my insulin) but they offered us an upgrade, discounted for the duration. We found the bed too soft and they immediately presented us with a firm mattress topper, then contacted their IT team so the WiFi was stable enough for our conference calls. Not a question or request went by without rapid troubleshooting and generous accommodation. I don’t know if this is a reflection of the corporate culture or just a great local staff, but they repeatedly went above and beyond. The library (available only to higher room levels) is a lovely perk, providing snacks, treats, wine and beer, along with the same coffee service and water (bubbly and still!) on demand that we found in the hall foyer outside our room. The room was spacious and well appointed with a desk large enough for two computers and gear, a long cushioned window seat, comfortable armchair and hassock, large tub and shower as well as a toilet with second hand sink separated from the rest of the bathroom. The piece de resistance was the gym and sauna: multiple cardio machines, resistance and strength training stations and an elegant, spacious sauna with adjoining...More

Fordele: Perfect stay for a quick business trip. On site restaurant was a big perk. Close to all but very quiet with great amenities. Will definitely stay again when back in Basel!

Fordele: The Design of the hotel is very stylish. Check In was quick an easy, the receptionist was very kind, explained to me everything. Even received a card of Basel to go to the museus and travel with public transportation. The room was cozy and clean. The bed was confortable, slept very well. The breakfast Buffet was simple, but good. Situation is very central, a quick walk from the train station (10min). Would definitivly stay again @the Nomad!

Ulemper: Since it was winter, the room was very hot! No regulator installed, so i had to use the ventilator to prevent melting :-) The Breakfast could have a little more to offer. Wanted to take a Drink coming home @1 AM Friday, but wouldn't serve us a round. That was a pity!

Fordele: Loved the bed and the vibe.

The staff is fantastic , Nicole is the friendliest person ever :) Also the facilities are great , we always opt for the library option as it is a place where they’re always some drinks and snacks. It’s a great place to chill out at any time. The rooms are a+ the beds are the comfiest :)))
