Staff, remodeled rooms, attentiveness Nonsense harbor views, poor front entry for valet, chicken salad from room service was disastrous.
The high tea and staff - Problems regulating the shower -didn't adjust quickly -the room had features like a shop..... Prices on everything....not a good feel for a luxury hotel!! The hotel's site advertising for nye led us to believe there was a special allocated spot on Observatory Hill for guests - we were disappointed
The people, the views, the comforts
We had a complimentary upgrade to a harbor view suite. This room was outstanding in every respect. We had a light supper served in the bar. Excellent service.
Very helpful staff and excellent food and beverage service and facilities; very well located in an interesting and historic neighbourhood
I particulary liked the quiet efficiency of the place - i5t ran so smoothly. No
Very helpful and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast Comfortable room.
a comfortable hotel in a quiet area but within walking distance of the main attractions
Although our stay was short we thoroughly enjoyed The Observatory Hotel and would not hesitate to stay for longer next time.
Heaven on earth does exsist ,it's The Observatory Hotel Sydney.Staff, facilities all supurb maybe the bed could be improved with a feather topper as a standard .as it is in most 5 star
It is close to Central Station It's a dump!
You can't beat the location for convenience to Central Station, and a great range of bars and restaurants within a short walk. It's nothing fancy - no lobby or other amenities, but rooms are comfortable and very reasonably priced. The WiFi can be slow, depending on your room location and proximity to a router.
Location This is not a hotel. It's a 1 bed flat (with old style carpet) and definitely does not feel like a high end hotel. Wifi never worked in 4 days despite repeatedly asking to have it fixed. I asked for a plug adaptor and was told to go and buy one (whilst other hotels in Australia always had one for foreign travelers). Breakfast 3 to low 4 star. There are plenty of nice hotels in the area. As a accor platinum card holder as decided to stay there. Never again,
I loved the location of the Kirketon. Darlinghurst is an amazing neighborhood. The staff was friendly and their bar is convenient. Their boutique look made this hotel stand out amongst the crowd. Near the Kings Cross subway line which can take you almost anywhere in the city. Also the local coffee shop down the street is great. The rooms were very small. Very tight fittings if traveling as a couple.
Lovely customer service. Its nice to see that for the cost of the room that there is still great customer service. The stairs. But thats because im lazy. :)
1. The web site overstates the quality of the rooms. They are very tired. 2. We ordered parking, but it did not eventauate despite being emailed that it was ok. 3. The air conditioning did not work. 4. The bathroom was not clean. 5. The staff were not very interested in our problems
Close proximity to nightlife lack of parking
Great bar, friendly staff, clean room and great atmosphere. After paying for my room, I was asked to leave a deposit of $100. I have never done this before and found this to be annoying.
The Hotel was very central and a good price for the location. Management is friendly and helpful. This Hotel is definitely not a 4 star Hotel. It was a good Hotel to stay in, but if one is looking for 4 star service, forget it. Cleaning of the Hotel rooms is not upto stardard. It never got vacuumed for the seven days I stayed and a sticky liquid that leaked from the fridge was not cleaned for the duration I was there. Room service a takeaway from a local restaurant that the receptionist delivers in boxes. Nice if the Hotel had less stars. I feel I was misled. Only recommend this Hotel if your looking for a basic and convinient city Hotel.
The cocktail bar out the back was nice and the staff were friendly The rooms were not upto boutique standard and therefore it was quite expensive.
Location is excellent and the staff extremely helpful. Facilities are adequate. Lights in the room could be brighter.
The sheets were nice! The shower was toooo dark and flooded the room when you used it. The hallways were very dark. Room was kinda small.BOOKINGS Online - we booked thru you but when we got to the hotel, they could not find our reservation even tho your site gave use a confirmation??????????
A great-value hotel in a fab location. It was clean, very tidy and modern and had everything we needed. The sound-proofing between rooms was a bit limited.
The hotel is cosy and location is ideal for longer stay in Sydney.
Location was great. Good value and would definitely go back.
It was well positioned for Hyde Park. The elevators were fast. Taxis were easy to obtain I felt the staff were only superficerly politem and I felt processed according to the hotels needs.
Pleasant staff, easy check in, parking and check out.
Room is large, location None
near to everything I stayed with my grandchild and her other grandmother who came for the first time to visit her. unfortunately my grandchild had an allergy and had to be taken to hospital. I just checked out after just one night and was charged for the whole day. the room was just cleaned when we had to leave. the hotel should not have charged me for the full day * i was destressed and unhappy paying this large amount for just one night!
Very close to City2Surf. Good hotel. Their exit survey took too long! (the hotel itself was great)
The exercise and pool/spa facilities where excellent I thought the breakfast menu could of been more simple food (ie. toast plain/ cerial etc) cost also for breakfast food could be a more economical.
Awesome location; close to CBD and Central Station. Surry Hills is a great suburb, lots of amazing cafes and bistros. Very friendly and helpful staff. Thorough room service; the room was left spotless every day. Great room and facilities. The breakfast from Basket Brothers wasn't great. It was grossly overpriced, and didn't taste that great either. I recommend going elsewhere.
Location near train station and buses, light rail, connection to ferry. Staff was relatively friendly and helpful. Exterior of building is dilapidated and the wood and brick structure is giving off very pungent rotting smell. This is especially noticeable when you open the window. Room is very small. The bed took 60% of the room space. Almost no space left to place luggages. Room vacuumed once every 3 days, and there were dusts everywhere, especially when there was construction work going on leaving dusts and particals everywhere. From elevator to the room, must pass a flight of stairs causing high difficulty for moving heavy luggages. Floor was slopping unevenly between elevator and stairs, a distance of maybe 10 feet in length. The price is way too high for such poor facility, even though they renovated the rooms and bath. Instead of having spring hing at the door jing-joint, they place a lever spring at the door top. And the right closet door bangs on the hing, damaging the closet, and eventually the lever-spring for the front door. All and all, very unpleasant experience for such an expensive place.
Bed was comfortable. A/C in good working order. Nice size bathroom. Appreciated the toiletries, the fridge, the safe. Excellent lighting both in room and bathroom. It was a bit disconcerting to find hairs in the tub after the room was cleaned.. The desk chair could use refurbishing.
things were acceptable for what i needed, there was nothing there that made me happy i stayed there rather than some place else. for a "5 star" hotel it was missing quite a bit. no spa, no pool, restuarants were really just bars with some tables. the staff was a bit snooty. everything in the room and hotel are for sale, and pretty much makes you feel like you are sleeping in an ikea catalog.
Rooms were very nice as were they lobby and bar You need better wifi access and it should be considered a basic service that you provide
The location, the luxurious setting, drinks at the lounge and the most comfortable bed ever - what's not to like?!
First class ,5 star rate but better Location on Phillip St. within easy walking distance to all attractions - shopping to sightseeing this hotel must be in the top 5 quality hotel in Sydney. No
Very friendly staff, ideal position, excellent facilities. Enjoyed stay immensly and the staff could not have been more helpful.
Hotel lobby! Terrible breakfast! no restuarant in the hotel! no swimming pool!
I liked the central location of the hotel and the staff were friendly and warm. I found it rather surprising that internet was not complimentary as it is a 5-star hotel. The last time I visited Sydney I stayed at Raddison's which I believe is a 4-star hotel and found the stay there on par with Sofitel, a 5-star hotel.
The location was excellent. Very close to all the tourist attractions and to the cities history.Service was good.
There were loud noises in the morning from the room above and when I called the front desk on multiple occasions I couldn't get an answer, then received a rude explanation that it would be investigated but the noise contributed. After a $2,000 stay, I left a file and was charged to have it mailed to me. I wouldn't recommend the hotel for ease of stay, but it is clean.
Convenience to venue that I attended, clean, surprisingly quiet, good food Bit basic and tele was hard to work with remote but this is minor
Quiet and easy access to central station. Clean basic rooms. No frills Ventilation could be better in bathroom but not offensive
The fact that we were so very accessible to all forms of public transport, the lovely location of Surry Hills with its beautiful, tree lined streets and many eatieries - all within very easy walking distance of the hotel. Also, the fact that. despite being on a busy road, we could hear nothing of the traffic, trains or public. The room was excellently maintained during our stay and staff very hospitable and friendly, We loved it and would happily return - soon!
Great location. Nice comfortable room. Friendly staff Little bit noisy earlier on. Pub downstairs a bit drunken
How friendly and helpful the staff were
The staff were friendly and helpful, the bistro was good, was very quiet considering rooms were above a hotel Exterior lighting shone directly into the room at night
Closeness to city attractions and Central Station. Everything was fine. Parking a bit of a hassle - but no great drama.
it was very close to the "central station" there was a strange smell in the room. internet service not available. noisy during the night
Very good (spacious, clean) room. Room was close to the bar, where party lasted till 4 a.m.
Excellent position for city stay and right next ot Central Station. Excellent bar and TAB facilities. Good value meals. Room fairly plain and dark. No remote for the TV.
Location of hotel and size of room. View from balcony - was on ground floor and very close to road, trees obscured view of bridge.
Location, great views, good access to the city and shops, relaxing and very comfortable, a good place to unwind.
Location to the rocks markets Would have liked lifts, as have a back injury making going up and down the stairs a little painful.
Friendly staff The fact that they lost the reservation made through your company. Amazing. Had to show paper copy of the reservation, which they honored. Not sure it's their fault or yours. Also asked about early check in (12.45) which was not honored.
Awesome location in the heart of The Rocks precinct Old renovated building that lacks a lift and proper airconditioning
The location is unbeatable - right in the heart of the Rocks.
the good location 1. first night was arranged in a noisy musty room at ground floor. 2. get a wrong bill at checkout, and if you use credit card, you have to surcharge a 1.5% credit card fee.
Location to harbour bridge and opera house
The view from our room to the Opera House and part of the harbour. That, as an international hotel, they charge 1.5% surcharge on all credit cards - outrageous! Also, they tried to charge me $130.- more than contracted booking agency agreement.
Room was available Poor on so many accounts...on arrival was ignored while the team chatted for at least 5 minutes before they noticed. Markets itself as a 4 star...which is a Grace or Novotel...and it only has stairs. Rooms very basic. Breakfast was very basic....remember the expectation and the price. Then got charged $100 more than the price quoted by Booking.com on my confirmation, and I had to make a stance to get it reduced back. awful hotel....will never book it again. For the rate that it is commanding I would have happliy paid the $100 more and stayed at The Observatory under the Wotif deal.
the welcome we received upon arrival, as well as all the help the staff gave us in finding our way around sydney
Great location, perfect comfort, great old building feel meets boutique hotel
