The staff was extremely helpful with everything from directions to meal preferences. The quality of atmosphere was also very good. The decor and views from the hotel were better than anywhere I've ever stayed. The pool area was not on par with the essence or ambiance of the rest of the hotel, with the lack of hot tub areas and the extreme plainness of the pool area compared to the rest of the hotel.
great accomodations and service
Superior service and accommodations, personal at hotel far superior to any staff at any hotel!
Extremely helpful staff and the facilities were first class from room amenities to the gym. Location is great - easy walking access to shopping, tourist destinations etc
This is a great hotel the atmosphere that employees everyone was great there
Service staff never made me feel like I was a bother. I loved the spacious and newly remodeled room we stayed in. Beautiful bump out bay window with breathtaking views of the river and Lake Michigan. Bathroom had very high end finishes, and also included a television in the mirror! The maintenance guy who tried to fix a broken bathroom light was using very profane language as he failed at repairing the light. However, this staff member's behavior scored us a free upgrade from city view - to river lake view - so it all worked out.
Wedding with loud DJ two floors above us kept us up one night. We called the desk and they seemed like they couldnt have cared less about our concern
Great people! Helpful and personal service. We requested a river view room (def worth the extra $$!) and were surprised with an amazing corner room with the greatest views! This location is better than staying up in the Mag Mile area if you plan on seeing the sights. Short walk to Millenium Park, Art Institute, and the L. And you are right at the base of the Mag Mile. Loved being on the river more than I can say! The room was clean and comfy, not a five star hotel but a very acceptable four star. The restaurant/bar is not wonderful, but we don't go to Chicago to eat in the hotel. The shower had one of those fancy yet totally impractical giant shower heads that comes down from the center of the ceiling. A trend that needs to go away.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Wonderful room! At least 2 ice machines were not operational.
Everything... not the room i asked for... was lied too. telling me things would be the same and werent... not even close. will not use again.
It was nice and in a great location They gave me a single king room with no view but I payed for a double queen with a view and even paid extra for a view room and then just gave us a free meal that sucked
I stayed here for business and also leisure. I chose this hotel based off of location and it was perfectly placed near all of the great tourism spots in the city. I walked everywhere all weekend, which is a great way to burn off all the delicious food Chicago has to offer. The view from the room of the city and the Chicago river is spectacular. The hotel staff was extremely nice, accommodating and the rooms were very clean. The parking fee to keep your car there during your stay is astronomical. We received a note card saying we get a "free gift" for staying there in our room the first morning we were there. When we turned it in, it was a free vacation only if you were over 28 and married and your spouse was staying with you, which I didn't qualify for as my spouse was at home. Because of that, I received one drink with an appetizer purchase (so not a free gift if you have to buy something ) at the hotel resturant. I think gimmicks like this are insulting and a waste of the guests time.
We loved the location, the room and the view- just didn't like being next to the elevator. Other than that- it was great!!
staff super professional and freindly location is great rooms are great price to valet parking "free" WIFI in rooms, weak
One of the better exercise areas I've seen in a hotel. A shop downstairs for incidentals (especially water) would be nice, instead of having to walk to the nearby Seven Eleven.
I loved that we had a mini sofa in our room. I would have liked a mirror outside of the bathroom - 4 people had to share one mirror for hair, makeup etc.
Loved the view from our room. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Some of the bellhop men could be more friendly but besides that it was a very amazing stay for our family!
Great last minute room rate. Odors in lobby and hallway. Exhaust problems from kitchen.
Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Enjoyed happy hour each night.
Very good location Hotel wasn't nearly as nice as other embassy suites I have stayed at.
Staff was very helpful and we were able to get a later checkout upon our departure, which was nice and allowed to kids to swim for a bit before we left. Check in and out was easy, and parking was easily accessible. The price on the all inclusive Disney kids on Demand TV package I order did not reflect what was charged to my bill. It was only a difference of $2.99 and ultimately not a big deal, but still, I feel as though you should be paying what you are quoted. Also, being that it was a holiday weekend, it would have been nice if breakfast was open until 10 as it is on the weekends, but I get the weekend vs. weekend schedule. The lines were a bit long by the end of breakfast and early breakfast is always hard to do with my kids. But again, not a huge deal in the whole scheme of things. We will definitely be back.
Stayed here Dec 12-14, 2014, this was our 2nd time staying here due to close proximity to Navy Pier's Winter Wonderland. Last year the Manager's reception offered better appetizers, seemed to be a bit cheaper this year. Staff is wonderful and room was really clean. We had an issue with the thermostat, it was almost 80 degrees the whole stay. The kids love it here, it's really family oriented. They seemed to like swimming in the pool better than Winter Wonderland, they made several little friends during our short stay. Will probably be back next year, we love it here.
Located close to shopping and conference centers Amenities are average
Friendly staff and clean facility No complaints
Nice hotel, casual and comfortable. Great breakfast. Very convenient to Navy Pier. Would definitely reccomend to friends and would stay here again.
Great location and comfortable rooms; breakfast was an awesome surprise in variety and quality Room service was slow, rooms not super clean and could definitely do without the lobby dance music during the day when kids were napping
Not convient. Poor service
Perfekt beliggenhed. Nej
God central beliggenhed, stor veludstyret lejlighed/ værelse til rimelig pris
Central beliggenhed med god udsigt over Michigan Ave. Luksusværelses med rigtig god plads. På 23. etage fred og ro: overhovedet ingen støjproblemer. Manglende orientering om tilkørsel og parkering og manglende orientering om bruttopris (inkl. tax, tip, parking)
This is a very nice and comfortable hotel. Rooms are nicely decorated and the bed was excellent. Also free WiFi. I will definitely book this hotel again on one of my business trips to Chicago.
Stylish, friendly staff, good location. Lovely L'Occetaine toiletries, but putting bath products (those bath "bombs") for sale in the bathroom is tacky. Either offer them as an amenity or don't put them out at all. Same with the "animal" socks. Hotel rooms aren't department stores. Coffee in the lobby was excellent. It would be nice if you could add a small selection of rolls or muffins to complement the coffee. And it would be great if the coffee service was offered until noon or even later. Asked for and received a quiet room. However, the trade off was a room overlooking a service roof/steakhouse sign, with no view of the beautiful city of Chicago. I would imagine a quiet room can be had without sacrificing a city view. Don't double glazed windows block out noise? The room was dark because of the lack of natural light and somewhat depressing. Prior to my visit I joined the Kimpton club, but the front desk had no record of my membership. Membership is supposed to offer a number of benefits, including preferred newspaper delivered to the room, but I only received the requested ny Times one day out of the three I stayed at the hotel. Pad and pen (I took them with me when I went out) were not replaced during my stay
Great, attentive staff. Terrific location by the river. Comfortable bed. Lobby Door staff was extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. Expensive for what you get. Room a/c is on energy saving computer load management, so it can take ten minutes to respond. River view 7th floor deluxe king Room had one uncomfortable arm chair, and a tiny sliver of a window that allowed one to see the bridge over the river, but, no water or boats. Exercise room was a joke, just A universal and dumbells. Free morning coffee a plus, but offset with tiny cups and mediocre coffee blend. Free evening wine was nice, but unlike far less expensive embassy suites, no snacks offered.
Excellent location, clean comfortable room, polite helpful staff, free wine & snack every evening.... Nothing
Very friendly and helpful staff. Large and comfy rooms. Beautifully designed entry way. Wine hour at 5pm was great. Close to shopping, restaurants and museums. Ended up with a room that had absolutely no view. Room cleaning could have been better, but nothing gross. Those two things made the $190 plus tax per night room a little too expensive.
Everything..great fluffy pancakes at breakfast I love this hotel. For some reason when I checked in they thought I had requested an adjoining room (I did not)and did not have me scheduled for a room with 2 beds that I had reserved. However they did some juggling and gave me the type of room I had requested.
We enjoyed the wine reception and the taste breakfast in the adjecent restaurant. The hotel is located right in the heart of Chicago and pleasantlly quiet. The hotel does not provide slipers.
Very comfortable, nice different decoration, excellent service, personnel, complimentary wine between 5-6pm. Few blocks from Billy Eliot's musical (must see!). Great restaurant close by, Catch 35! Nice walk to Mgnif. Mile. Allow 1 hour to airport due to traffic. nothing
Great location and a very good hotel overall No tea or coffee facilities in the room.
Great location. Morning coffee and afternoon wine. The room was too dark. There is inadequate lighting. Pillows were feather but far too soft.
Location was central to everything and the staff was very helpful. Toilet paper was really poor quality. Minor problem with the bill that was quickly settled.
The wait time for an elevator was excessive at 9:30AM Sunday morning. I was on the 6th floor waiting to go down to the Lobby. 6 cars stopped, all full, over the span of 10 minutes. I finally got on a car that had an open spot, but was going up, and then rode it down - meanwhile the car stopped on 7 other floors. It seems to me a more "fair" algorithim could be employed to have an elevator car stop for someone on the 6th floor. If it weren't for the amount of luggage I had to carry, I would of course taken the stairs.
Stayed one night and paid $76.00 dollars to park
Parking is $55 per day
We couldn't get HHonors points at all because we booked through Kayak.
Very convenient location, walking distance from the Magnificient Mile, the Wrigley Building, and Millenium Park. Many restaurants nearby, and bagel/coffee shop near the hotel lobby. Nice outdoor pool. No free internet in the room. Noise from repairs (drilling) in neighboring room(s) every morning (weekdays).
location, price are great room was very comfortable, but not as clean as we would expect, in fact cleanliness was our only "ding".
This hotel has an amazing location being just a couple of blocks away from Michigan Ave and being on the lake side near Navy Pier. Having a WholeFoods kitty corner to the hotel was quite handy. The hotel staff was incredibly nice and attentive. They do an excellent job of keeping the place clean. We had such a wonderful time that we decided to stay an extra night. Not having a mini fridge in the room was a little inconvenient.
We loved our stay at the doubletree, complimentary cookies and the front desk, the bed was lovely and the location is great, only few blocks from the magnificent mile. My husband woke up at night due to the outside street noise (cars&sirens) I personally did not hear it. I guess it depends how light of a sleeper someone is.
The pool Big yellow stain on carpet Bathroom light wouldn't stay on and flickered the whole time Wasn't able to get ready in bathroom and made showering very interesting to say the least We would have changed rooms but we were running late to my birthday plans Complained in the am and they said they could do nothing bc I didn't book they them directly. I was very upset how the manager handled the situation We spent $240 on a one night stay for my birthday and cookies were offered but with attitude
Seems there were some residents on my floor - sounded like families that did not have a home. They were noisy, loud, baby crying and unattended, See above.
Went up to Chicago to catch a craft beer festival. The hotel was very accommodating, helping us take our many, many, manyou cases of beer and two tiny bags of luggage to our room. With the convenience of in and out parking and even providing plates when our pizza was delivered made our short stay amazing. Would definitely stay here again City garage parking is sooooooooo expensive!
Clean, helpful staff, good location and overall value. I wouldn't say it's old, but some of the decor and appointments are outdated.
What a fabulous find this little hotel is! Superb location, funky decor with a rock 'n' roll theme, and prices I couldn't beat after a day's searching online. Sure, the rooms are small, but the renos are modern and neat, and there's great music in the lobby, the bakery and the Berkshire Room. Definitely where the cool kids stay ... even if the cool kids are over 50!
It was a different hotel experience. For example: They delivered fresh coffee in a thermos in the morning versus making a cup. Noisy hvac unit.
The front desk agent was very helpful, even though Expedia had not forwarded my reservation. She checked my bag and took my phone # and said that they would call when my room was ready... The room was clean and I like the way it was decorated. Nothing
Really neat place, fantastic location and price
Quiet, quirky, nice beds, great location. Loved the robes and free, delivered to the door morning joe. View of a wall in my room, but no street noise either! A bit pricey
The proximity to great eateries, bars and fun activities cannot be beat. The staff was pleasant and accommodating.
Modern, clean room with access to restaurants: some that claim to be the home of deep dish, Eataly, and some other nice but standard places. Cute cafe in the lobby with good coffee and pastry's. Close to subway, and not too tricky to get to from airport. I was surprised to see vending in the room: the mini fridge was stocked with drinks, and there were cans on pressure plates that if you moved, you bought the items. It made me feel nervous that sitting at the desk if I jostled a can I'd have to pay $5. I had them take all of the vending things out of the room, which they did quickly and with no fuss. Probably something you want to check on if you have a problem with alcohol, have kids in the room, or just not in to having impulse purchases in your room. Also, they are a decent hotel, but all of the copy on their marketing materials and their look seems like they are trying way to hard. Show, don't tell. If you have to tell us you are cool, you probably aren't. That said, it is a fine hotel - we can like you the way you are.
A very cool place. Location was great and the rooms were clean. Nothing
Comfy room. Excellent attention to detail. Super cool hotel bar. I have no complaints.
Me & my friend had the pleasure of staying at your hotel for a long weekend getaway. From check in to check out your staff & facilities were very pleasant & accommodating. I just want to point out that the bar staff, Brian & Izzy went above & beyond to make us feel welcome! Once again, a big thank you to the AC Marriott for doing a great job!
very friendly, super clean, nice location $50 a night parking
Great location, comfortable beds, fridge in room. Service was good. Not overly comfortable, very minimalistic, breakfast was mostly cured meats, cheeses, cereals, and fruits (no eggs, oatmeal, etc), room felt a bit cold and sterile for our style.
Great neighborhood. Felt safe walking around. Clean, comfortable hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Loads to do within walking distance. The cabbies didn't seem to know where the hotel was. They tried to drop us at the Marriott which was a block away.
