We did not like the hotel The location in the old centre of Rio was not good, not safe to walk in the streets (drug trafficking)
Nise size double room for one person and it was an easy location to reach and then walk in to town. I had dsome difficulty due to the daytimme staff not speaking English. My own fault I guess. It was also a bit noisy as the walls seemed thin.
It was a pleasure to have staff at Reception that tried their best to speak English as best they could. They were extremely helpful. Raul was the lie of the group!! The Buffet breafast was quite good. A nice selection of fresh fruit which we are not receiving at the present hotel we are staying at in Buenos Aires now. It would be nice to have something other than wieners served with teh scrambled eggs. Perhaps Bacon or Pancakes would be more substatntial. Calgary, Alberta Canada. I would suggest that they change their Mattresses and pillows to be something other than very hard rubber. The bed was most uncomfortable. Perhaps try some mattress that are being sold in one of the business on the same street as the Hotel Granada. Your website indicated that use of the internet was free to individuals staying on the premises, when in fact we were charged $2.00 for each 10 minute period we used. Calgary Alberta
Location and the breakfast!!
The staff were very helpful, and the receptionist spoke good english
I felt that the price was very fair for being Rio. The room and everything was very well kept. The staff was friendly, and the hotel is in a good location/proximity to many of the sites in Rio.
It was located in the center of the city near the cathedral and bus/metro stops. It also had a very good breakfast buffet included with the price. Excellent restaurant 'Salsa' across the street. Asked for non-smoking - smell of cigarettes throughout hotel. Dirty room. AC would not shut off except by pulling plug.
good central location - close to many bars and Rio's Catedral. However can be scary at night.
location centrally close to sambadromo, price staff dont speak english, problematic area by night(deserted),
The staff was very cooperative with our demands. I cannot find any negative point from an objective point of view.
Clean room, clean and modern bathroom. Good location Internet is not working 100% of the time. My neighbor is very noisy after hours but I guess it is just that room, can't blame the hotel for this.
Free Wi-Fi internet. Clean and modern. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Nice located. Not far from subway station. Very good option for carnival and city trip for those who want not to overpay for copacobana
Location, breakfast, decor, hotel staff. The unusual arrangment of the rooms placed aound the outer edge on each floor with the centre section being completelty open from the top of the hotel to the bottom. This seems to channel noise upward through the open space.
hotel pep in the counter can speak english well the girls in the counter is not so resonsable
My plan included breakfast. Breakfast was great because I could enjoy various kinds of cheese, ham, bread, and cakes. The room was traditional because of wooden floor and door. There was a bit poor feeling because of small bed, small and no flat TV, no bus tub, and poor bed cover. Wireless internet did not work well because of weak signal.
What I liked best was that the reception staff made every effort to help me, especially the one who spent a long time on the phone trying to help me locate my delayed luggage from the airport. He was friendly and polite and I appreciated his help a lot. The rooms and facilities were more than adequate for my needs, and the buffet breakfast choice was great. The price was excellent. I'd definitely stay there again. Not the hotel's fault, but Centro is not the greatest location in Rio; not the cleanest or most interesting part. Having said that, I felt safe, and saw good nightlife including locals Capoiera dancing in the square.
Friendly staff who are very helpful in organizing day trips or suggesting activities. Excellent breakfast.
The staff at the front desk was helpful and friendly. I liked this. The hotel faces noisy streets.
Guys at desk were good, explained as much as they could. Not so much people know English, but they do their best. Generally, personnel are good. breakfast could be more diverse. room floor not comfortable. conditioner very noisy(at list - in my room). bathroom not comfortable at all. for 3* it should be at list a bit better. but, have no idea in those district what other hotels offer.
Good location, but the pictures in website don't show what the hotel really is. The rooms are very old. Its good for one night or two, if you want to see nightlife in Lapa. The breakfast is nice and the staff is very helpful.
location is good close to various bares and clubs in central Rio and the quality of the hotel is reasonable Mattresses could be softer
This hotel made a good base for 4 nights visit to Rio.
Excellent breakfast, elevator facilities and attentive doorman No beds side lamps.
Good budget place if you want to stay in the center of the city. The street in fromt of the hotel is quite noisy from the night life.
Location is big advantage (for me) - close to downtown and metro. Breakfast was very good. Traffic noise.
the location, the services/facilities and the hotel staff
Good service. Attention of the staff. Lack of parking
Staff very pleasant and spoke English well. Room very comfortable and clean with good air conditioning. Enjoyed rooftop pooldeck and views. Very convenient to metro station.
Staff prompt to serve and willing to help, also very knowledgeable about getting around the city by any mean of transportation. On requests, specify what you wish and they eill be sure you'll get what you order to the detail (off course upon availability).
service, comfort, location free internet
Staying in the center of the city was an excellent choice, and being near the subway and Theatre Municipal was handy. The neighborhood remains a bit gritty and caution is required in the evening, except at nearby cafes that spill out into the street.
The hotel and rooms were very clean and modern. Staff was friendly and helpful. I would've liked some free drinking water (minibar was bit expensive). Elevator is noisy. Rooms are far from being sound-proof but there's not too much noise anyway. Rooms are also a bit small. Hotel taxi costed more than regular taxis.
pillows were too thin
Location is very convenient for the "centro" (downtown) area. Not too large hotel, so faster check-in and check-out. Good room size with comfortable working desk. Newly renovated, evrything very clean. Good restaurant with reasonable prices and fast room service. Only black spot is poor Internet service. The per-minute option gets disconnecting and is terribly slow. The per-day option is also very slow. Difficult to understand since they are charging for it. I purt a complaint on 2 previous stays, but it has not improved. They told me that they are planning to change provider around October....
Very good location for city cultural visit (not beaches), excellent room, helpful staff and several spoke English, all at a good price. It was a much better deal via booking.com than direct booking or others and my credit card was not charged until departure. A wholly positive experience.
It had a Gym. Bad location, Over priced, Did'nt allow me to have my company in my Room considering the price I payed. Uncomfortable Beds. No acces to computers.
Efficient and English speaking staff, helpful.
This is not a 4 star hotel as the website advertises, it is actually a 3 star hotel (and should probably be a 2 star). The rooms and services are very basic, and it is located down an unappealing side street next to a construction site. The pictures on the website are correct, but they are far more flattering than the reality when you get there.
It was the only hotel with places for urgent stay
Unfortunately we did not enjoy our stay at the hotel and it is in is very bad, even hotel staff said it is to dangerous to walk around at night time.
The continental breakfast was a treat and added a traditional touch to our Brazilian experience.
Buffet and location were good. Staff was confused about prepayment.
The breakfasts were very adequate with lots of fruit and pastries. The menu didn't change from day to day, but there was more than enough to choose from. We appreciated the free Wi-fi in the room and the computer in the main area. The room was clean, but the furniture was old and looked like it could use some renovation.Towels and linens were thin and there was no hair dryer or washcloths provided.
