The Hacienda came through for us with flying Mexican colors on Cinco de Mayo Weekend The hotel staff must be commended from Jesus the Hotel Manager to Celine on front desk staff to Kasandra in house keeping. You all deserve a big Cinco de Mayo Gracias!! What a view and sounds of the Old Town Cinco de Mayo festivities from our balcony. Muchas Gracias Hacienda - we'll be back !!! Nada !!
It was in a fantastic location close to Old Town, and San Diego State Park. Rooms had small kitchen with all necessities available for our use. Breakfast was included WiFi didn't work consistently, property too spread out. Had to go through so many gates, and up and down stairs to get to pool, and restaurant where breakfast was served. Depending on who was on duty, the desk clerks were rather passe' about helping us figure out how the bus system worked, or answering questions about the property and how to find the pool, restaurant, etc. One night we used the elevator to get up to the restaurant to go to dinner, and by the time we were finished with dinner and on the top floor, the elevator was out of order, and we had to use the stairs. For us this was no problem, but we saw a woman who could hardly walk, and what was she supposed to do in this situation? I do have to say that we liked the location so much that we will probably stay at the BW Hacienda again. If I had small children, all the stairs would have been a nightmare!!
The view was beautiful There was no parking in my section of room stay so I had to park and the other side of the building and to top that off I had to go up 75 stair steps 4 total flights because the elevator was out of service with luggage it was even harder very disappointed with that situation
Rooms good space- How CLEAN the rooms are and the small extras provided ..Water btls- coffee extra Towels on request. Hotel in the center on the city street event. perfect for walking no- car traveling. needed. Hotel Cafe available again very nice. all the staff ready to serve and extremely friendly. We have enjoy our 2nd year now at this Hotel. we had a Fabulous stay!!!
Location was great
location, layout of hotel (multi-levels, outdoor), clean rooms, beautiful views, pay for parking, confusing layout of hotel, rooms were a little outdated
Hotel advertises they have shuttle service, called before booking to confirm shuttle service but was never told its within certain hours and areas. construction going on, detour is pretty bad when you are at the end of the hotel.
I liked the location, cleanliness, and that there is a restaurant/bar on site. The airport shuttle is a plus. The shuttle services only takes you to the airport, the restaurant/bar is expensive, and the layout is confusing if you stay in building 6. To get to building 6 you have to go up stairs unless you can park in the parking garage.the doors have gaps under them so small critters can get underneath.
Traveling on business - very easy access from airport and to the clients I worked with. There is plenty to do within walking distance being in Old Town - or you can stay at the Hacienda and enjoy their amenities. The staff at the Hacienda were welcoming and accommodating to any request that I had.
This is a beautiful Hotel above San diego's Old Town with rooms in different buildings set on the hill, The look is old Spanish style with open patios and fountains and an amazing view all the way to the bay. There is a very good Mexican restaurant on the premises with breakfast included that is much better than your average included breakfast. The staff was courteous and helpful and they seemed to like working there. I was there 4 days on business and very much enjoyed my stay. The only issue might be for those who are challenged with stairs.
The venue and area was so beautiful. It had everything there. Will definitely come back The elevator was broken.
Location was across the street from Old Town. Finding parking on the street on a weekend was almost impossible. You have to buy a parking pass from the hotel for an extra $16 per day.
AC and the shower worked well. Underneath a freeway. Pretty sleezy, also had a lot of people smoking and making out in cars, etc. Refrigerator wasn't working. Had a cigarette burn on the counter in a non smoking room. Said freewifi but is 5.00 a day. Lady told us we need to come out by 12pm then the front desk said it was 11pm when she called at 12. ?????
said there was free wifi, but there was no free wifi
The location The staff was really rude
Mike at front desk was awesome carpet was sopping wet had to stuff on floor so our wouldn't get wet
cheap prices The room smelled like smoke and urine. ended up stinking up all of our clothes and luggage.
Staff was rude/acted as if we were putting them out. Neighborhood is surrounded by homeless people living on the street unless you drive a smart car or motorcycle parking is joke. Nothing like to pictures.
This motel isn't in the best location, because it's right under the freeway overpass and right next to the train. But I'm not gonna lie this motel was so clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. And if you don't want to spend so much on a nicer motel I recommend you just stay here.
I did not realize that I had booked a room at the salvation army's homeless dormatory. Most of the other guest seemed to be homeless backpackers. The bed was good.
Good price, clean room, easy parking, close to everything we wanted to do friendly staff. A room marked as non-smoking smelled so badly of smoke, I could hardly breathe. Also there were old cigarette burns everywhere. No hairdryer.
Gave me an upgraded hotel for same price They were overbooked and got no warning. And the upgrade hotel was not much better weird smell
Really liked the price and location. The staff was friendly and helpful. Had a laundry mat on site. Easy access to public transportation and freeway ,places to eat , stores, attractions. The bed was a bit hard.
Room was clean and smelled nice. Train seemed to go by every 30 minutes which was very close to my room and the train always sounded it's horn. Bed was very uncomfortable. The mini-fridge did not work. TV was an old CRT.
The hotel has been updated since it became Fairfield Inn. It is clean and in a great location for visiting Old Town San Diego. They serve a complimentary breakfast and offer a secure parking garage at no charge. Although Fairfield Inn/ Marriott updated the hotel and keep it clean, the property no longer has the charm it used to in regards to the old tiled courtyard and nondescript rooms. The "scrambled eggs" served on the breakfast buffet were weird - gelatin-like.
I liked rooms 'cause very clean and comfortable and I like the bath because it was almost big and really clean
The location of this hotel was fantastic. Walking distance to all of OLD town San Diego restaurants and shops. Very close to freeways to get to ocean beach, mission beach, etc. it was very clean. The free continental was really good. Eggs, waffles, sausage, gravy and biscuits, toast, fruit, etc. We didn't like that we had to pay for parking if we used their underground parking structure. However, we did not pay. There was plenty of parking on the streets around the hotel. We never parked further than 1 block.
It was walking distance to Old Town and the trolley ride. It was clean. I did not like the $12 a day charge for parking. The food was Ok but not like the breakfast as advertised. The place had lots of rooms but we were put way in the back. They charged for use of the computer in the lounge. Too many little charges.
Very clean and enjoyable. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel was quiet and restful. The staff were attentive to our needs.
Good location, all the necessary amenities, very clean and comfortable, and great, pleasant, helpful staff Have to pay to park in their garage
Room was clean and comfortable. Parking was easy to access. Loud freeway noise.
Conveniently located between downtown and Pacific Beach. Friendly and courteous staff, clean room. Will consider staying here again in the future. Parking situation. Park on street for free otherwise.
Really like the service. Room was decent and clean. No odors. Best price I can find in the area. Easy parking. Great location. Unable to get the air conditioning to work. The walls are too thin; can hear neighbor's tv on all night.
For travelors that actually travel, and not lounge, then you will enjoy this hotel for it's location. The hotel is two blocks from the transit center. The transit center is a hub for trains, trollies, and buses. The trolley system is fast, and can reach all of San Diego in minutes with an all day pass of $5. The pass is also good for most bus routes. Old Town is a block away, and has the best food in all of sd. Mission Beach is 15 minutes away. I spent my time in the Gaslamp District and Old Town, and traveled with ease! Also, there is a liquor/mini store 3 blocks away for saving on meals, but most of Old Town has happy hours with super good deals on lots of food. Staff was kind, and room always fresh. The Wi-Fi was a little too slow. The pool was refreshing, but it would have been a tad nicer if slightly heated. The rooms seem to have a pre set tempature, so if you need it hot or need it cold, you're kinda stuck. It felt like it was at 67 degrees. I like it cold, so I just opened the bathroom window and the front window and created a natural draft that made it very enjoyable. I rarely stayed at the hotel though, due to my interest in really seeing the city. Comfy bed, hot showers, plenty of pillows.
Nothing really. The room was very old and had cracks everywhere. The restroom was falling apart as well as the tub. There was a weird door that had plants in it. very weird and dirty.
Location No continental breakfast
The Inn was on walking distance from cosy Old Town and the Old Town Trolley station. The rooms were spacious and adequately clean. The lack of heating in November when night time temperatures drop to about 10°C was rather uncomfortable. Nobody likes waking up in a cold room. Upon repeated requests the staff finally managed to put the heating system on. Unfortunately the heating system had a tendency to set the activate the fire detector.
The staff was excellent. Very helpful, pleasant, and knowledgable about the area attractions.
The price and location were great. Also, we appreciated their early check in time (2pm). It was easy to get to and close to major freeways. Your double message is confusing. How can one write anything they didn't like and at the same time not complain? Anyhow, the clerk wouldn't give my wife a print out of our transaction and the total, as we checked out, and he informed her that the actual price of the room varies between us and Booking.com.so he couldn't tell her what it was. I had to go in and request a print out and inform him that the transaction was between us and the motel and not Booking.com. He finally gave me a print out with the total, which was the one we expected.
Near old town, best price... Blanket, a little unconfortable...
Excellent location to Old Town Old place. TV's are.....could use replacing. No TV guide....
The staff was very friendly. I didn't care for being told that there was a parking surcharge that was hidden in the fine print. All charges should up front on the first web page of the site.
Close to tourist attractions (Old Town). Horrible parking situation. Tiny rooms that are poorly decorated. Tiny bathroom and shower.
the place is quietly, fridge and microwave in the room, near old town, free internet in the loby.....
Free shuttle service just about everywhere...train station, airport, and cruise terminal, plus the local sites!! The neon light outside our window was a bit annoying, and the tap was pretty hard for my arthritic hand...otherwise it was great.
How close it was to the airport and a gas station to fill up the rental car. Our room was on the interstate side and obviously there was traffic noise when we were trying to get to sleep. But we were so tired by the time we got to the hotel, I don't think it affected how we slept.
The staff was friendly & helpful. The room was clean & comfortable. There was a fair amount of variety to the complimentary breakfast. Great local shuttle service, including to the Marine Corp graduation services. Would recommend. The down side to this hotel is the location. The hotel is sandwiched between I-5 and a very busy street. The noise level could be intolerable to some.
Free Breakfast and wifi Staff wasn't very friendly, welcoming helpful upon arrival
Very friendly and willing staff and really excellent (free) shuttle facilities between airport, cruise terminal, Amtrak station.Free continental breakfast makes it excellent value for money , especially for families on modest budget.
The shuttle servicePlease write at least 15 words The available food service. I was literally shaken down by the middle eastern pizza guy!
I liked the breakfast, coffee bar, location to downtown, Old Town, and Little Italy as well as the wedding venue we attended. Everyone was friendly and smiled. Security parking was a great plus as we had a new car and feared there would be issues. Some things to consider changing include attention to details. 1. Be sure to leave an extra roll of toilet paper in the room at all times 2. Put screens on the windows facing the freeway as the room was extremely humid 3. Towels should not have holes in them even if they are smaller than a dime 4. Overall ventilation in the room was challenging between the humidity created by the shower and lack of ventilation in the bathroom to the swamp cooler in the room that just created more humidity. 5. Need more full sized parking spaces and more if possible. 6. Have rooms that are joined and allow for families to stay in a junior suite; requires less parking.
clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was excelllent and close to all the ameneties that we needed.
They have shuttle service. Very convenient when exploring sd.
Two blocks away from the old town and nice staff Room was located on the first floor. The room window was racing the street and the freeway. Anybody walking on the sidewalk could see in our room unless we closed the blinds small room.
Our room was very clean and comfortable, the staff was amazing!
Nice, clean and quiet if you are able to get a room away from freeway. Beds comfortable and room clean. Love that we could have our dog. Breakfast was good and had a good selection to choose from.
ask for a quite room, was exactly that. Room was clean and somewhat modern decor. The closer you are to the freeway side, the louder it gets. Close to all attractions in Old Town. Staff was nice. The breakfast included wasn't very good. The outside walkways were dirty in some areas.
Breakfast was very good. We were charged for a security box we didn’t use! Ridiculous. And the staff said its just a nominal fee. Yes one that adds up on a daily basis and brings in $$ for the hotel. Unnecessary charge. If hotels install these in rooms to offer 5 star hotel perks then don't charge for it like a 5 star hotel!
room was clean. looked like they recently refurbished. room faced the highway. back round noise from the highway was better than the A/C unit.
The price was quite reasonable, walking distance from Old Town (although I'd suggest sticking to the main streets). Good sized breakfast room. Our room was surprisingly quiet considering it faced the 5 freeway. Our room was very small, adequate for one night but a longer stay would have been challenging for our family of four.
The rooms were adequate, the wireless worked well, the beds very comfortable and the nicest people work there. Don't get a room overlooking the freeway--it's noisy. The pool is adequate--if you are under 10 years old. The building was cheaply built and is aging poorly, and there are no nice places to eat within walking distance.
great location! bathroom tub was a little dirty
Came for Son's Marine Graduation. Perfect
Old and dated hotel. Not 3 stars
I Booked this for my boyfriend and I to stay and attend the Chargers/Raiders game and not have to worry about the traffic. I did it the day of and didn't really look into the hotel much bc it was just easy and right next to the trolley line. To my surprise there wasnt a TV or a phone ..... I didn't even miss it and just enjoyed not having it but I did tend to use my phone to play music. But it was so relaxing and well worth not having those items in the room. The staff was more the amazing and the ghosts in room 9 were definitely making themselves known which made it even more interesting. It was nice to roam around Old Town over the weekend but was bummed that it closed down so early. I've stayed all over in all kinds of hotels and by far this one stands out in my experience and it's nice for family and for couples to go and have a stay-cation to recharge battery's I personally loved the bed you just sunk right into it but unfortunately my boyfriend is very tall so it was kind of a tight squeeze for him. I Personally liked the tight squeeze haha but as far as making it comfortable for someone his size a much larger bed would of been nice. Also I wish the bar in the restaurant would stay open later as a place for hotel guests to hang out once Old Town closes down.
The staff was amazing and super friendly, from the moment we arrived. The gal the met us at the front desk was very informative and walked is up to our suite, she really made our anniversary stay memorable from the very beginning. When arriving after our walk through old town we had a need for ice and without even asking one of the hotel staff came up and accommodated us and took our drinks and set them on ice in a bucket. Definitely will be coming back to stay again.
