only stayed 1 night but liked the security camera in the car park and the spa available in the room and the recliner chair i was not greeted on arrival when i spoke to reception and made arrangements and found this rather poor as a greeting would have been polite and given a friendly atmosphere to our holiday .how ever on paying the bill i was given good customer service.
Nice and spacious....
Loved the gym and the pool had to ring and ask for toilet paper. The bathroom / toilets felt dirty
Liked the dedicated rooms with smoking balconies. Friendly staff. The hotel is a bit "tired". Some carpet in the lobby has stretched.
terrible room service – it wasn't serviced by 3.00pm and they took away our towels without replacing them.
No appropriate table for use of computer. No good lighting to work in the room. Poor access to television options. No kitchen knifes or forks.
The rooms are very large in size and very comfortable and the hotel is in a good central location. the gym and pool are a great bonus. Nothing
Good location, large spa bath in this room type, breakfast fresh and varied, spacious room air conditioning difficult to use, room was very hot, no wine glasses despite mini bar, internet prices exorbitant
i wasnt too impressed with this facility. it was very tired looking and i didnt find the staff too friendly..although i didnt find people in rotorua too friendly either considering its a tourist town...room wasnt ready at 2.. we got sent up to a room that wasnt serviced and had to be relocated to another... please read the above.
Good value for money The room was too hot, the wall mounted heater was not adjustable
we have stayed there a number of times and like the general atmosphere, appearance and services and proximity to city centre
Convenience for local amenities and value for money
relaxing with family and frirends spa room had lecking roof but it it was under repair so no problem
We had a Club Room which has an excellent view of the lake, continental breakfast, and happy hour. It is also across the street from Polynesian Spa which is the main reaon we stayed there. It is a very large complex with lots of tourist groups. So the hotel is very busy. But a Club Room avoids the congestion.
Comfotable rooms - excellent restuarant, rooms abit too warm one of our party did not have her details and room added prior arrival
Welcome and Farewell gestures by management Quality of diner: a little pretentious
The hotel was in a central location within easy walking distance to the city centre. The facilities were very good as was the service.
I very much enjoyed the spa where I had two treatments. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The bathroom badly needs updating, and some more towel rails! I found it difficult having a shower in a narrow bath with a rounded bottom. I kept hitting my head on the shower head! Good pressure though.
Good, friendly service. Very comfortable room. Had dinner in the restaurant - excellent. Lovely location.
Great facilities. Lovely large room overlooking the lack and spa complex. Paying the extra to get this view was so worth it. Looking forward to staying again.
Room was incredibly tidy, beautiful big spa bath! Lovely staff, will definately stay there again.
It was a cold night but the strong heater made us warm.
Staff very friendly!!! Room was big and the jet tube was great and made the whole family happy. Interior could use an update but nothing major.
The size of the room catered for the family very well and a fantastic spa bath. No
Friendly hotel, excellent spa bath. Big comfortable bed. Nice weekend away.
The staff was incredibly helpful and was very friendly.
Our stay was exactly what we had planned, we were able to relax in comfort and peace and quiet the room was ample big enough when our 2 mokopuna came to visit. The front office were more than helpful and accommodating. No complaints.
location, warm staff smell of sulpher close by
The bathroom; powerful shower that remained at a constant temperature and was spacious. Lack of car parking on site.
friendly stuff, nice enviroment, very convenient to all facilities NA
Very good value for money, reasonably central location, comfortable room and friendly staff Although the room was not too bad, the hotel is sited downwind of the pretty foul smelling Lake Rotorua
Affordable Great location Bed was uncomfortable A/C had limited cooling
good value for money;courtesy of staff; location; quiet and relaxed no
The choice at the buffet breakfast
Hot Spa Baths and the entertainment. Did not like the strong sulphur smells.
very helpful staff friendly and did thier best to accomidate all wants. room needed to be vaccumed under the beds when i dropped some thing the rolled under the bed their was all sorts of small bits and pieces under the beds rubber bands and bits of platic etc
Location good, handy walking distance to town, lake front, museum, restaurants. nice view over lake. Comfortable, spacious room. Hard to find a fault, but I dont think there was air conditioning.
Location is close to the lake as stated in website and the room in general is spacious for two. Also, the location of the room I was given was not as expected. The coffee/tea maker was not clean the color was more towards green instead of bright white. I could not make any coffee or tea.
Loved the contemporary feeling in a very old hotel. Would be nice to have had bathrobes and full house wifi.
good central location and attractive building, helpfull staff quickly rectified small problem, large, comfotable room.
The old world charm and ambience and the professsionalism of the staff The room was a bit small
The old unique/antique set-up. The rooms having an outside corridor, not too nice on cold rainy days
This hotel had a very personal atmosphere and it was an interesting place for its heritage and charm. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was close to the centre of town and close to the beautiful gardens so was perfect for our needs.
The situation and the building
The hotel character and fine dining (which was not expensive neither). The pool area needs some maintenance.
Convenience to town & restaurants; free parking; spacious suite Would have liked to have washing machine in the suite instead of at communal area. The apartment is a little dated (70s-80s).
Personal service of staff. Close to everything in Rotorua. Comfortable and felt like staying in someone's home. Just felt a bit "worn" and a couple of things needed to be cleaned better like the phone and the outside of the cupboards in my kitchenette. The wall paper inside the entryway was all buckled and loose.
Hotel staff were all excellent...helpful, polite and well presented. For a 'city hotel' it was remarkably quiet, mindful that we spent only a Saturday night there. Not surprisingly, the hotel is showing signs of its age and in instances, looked "tired". Unavoidably, the only way to reach the Steiner Room was by going outside...in wet weather, not all that desirable.
The actual rooms, having a separate bedroom to the living area, though there was a significant leak in the bathroom sink, but my husband fixed it. A minor job. Not cool enough especially at night, with the sulphur smell it took a while to get used to it.
Generally speaking, it is a good hotel. Nothing.
The staff was great, even tho we locked ourselves out they responded promptly.
Nice place, very clean and nice style, also very affordable, will stay again if visiting Rotorua Was a bit cold in the rooms, might need more heating
comfortable not very convenient for centre of town
parking Very little space in the rooms. Disappointed with the bathroom especially access to spa bath.
The location of the hotel plus the size of the apartment and the standard of furnishings. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful.
The staff were efficient and friendly. Room was comfortable and clean and the location was good.
Spa pool Bed was very hard and uncomfortable, hotel very noisy, bad TV reception
A convieniently located good quality room well kept and functional with excellent carparking.
Motel was clean and comfortable, and well located in the town so it was easy to come and go. Would have been easier if we had been able to unpack our bikes on the tile floor, but motel had strict rule that bikes weren't allowed inside the door of the unit.
Hot Pool Single beds were really uncomfortable - Parking was really restricted/tight - wireless didn't work
A real gem. Good value for money in a convenient location. The owners couldnt help enough & we found the rooms to be comfortable & clean.
Excellent Location, nice setting, comfortable rooms
Accommodation was very comfortable and pleasant. Nice gardens and mineral pools.Close to shops and restaurants. Owner/manager extremely helpful. Have recommended this to family
Visited the Maori cultural evening at the Matai Village which was Excellent
In a wonderful position for views across lake and close to shops and restuarants. Nothing
Location is great and the room has everything we needed. We travel to Rotorua very often and this will be the place to stay! Pilows are too thin, a bit uncorfortable.
Quiet and Peaceful location. Close to Restaurants and I Site for picking up tours. Not enough staff on Reception desk to cater for Checking in/out and answering questions. I Never saw anybody at the concierge desk to assist guests.
Clean and comfortable, good choice at breakfast. Close to town centre and lakeside. Reasonable size carpark. Free internet access was useful. The hotel has free internet access but limited time per day and is data capped. If you pay for internet access it is also limited time and also data capped at a very low data maximum. I would suggest that Novotel in general review the internet access policy for its customers. This is not a complaint but rather a suggestion.
It was well slituated and served a good breakfast.
The buffet in the hotel restaurant was very nice, as was the service. Our room was quiet and comfortable enough. Room had no opening windows for fresh air and the air conditioner was inefficient. The number of teabags were minimal.
Very curteous and helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms, location excellent, easy walk to lake and shops and restaurants None at all
A very comfortable four nights. Staff friendly and helpful. Room very comfortable and clean. Excellent buffet breakfast. Plenty of parking spaces. Conveniently situated within walking distance of local restaurants and shops, and driving distance to the many attractions in the area.
Fantastic location, very obliging staff - they let us check out one hour later at no extra costs Nothing went wrong
The staff were very pleasent, we even got upgraded to superior room at no extra cost.
I was booked into a cheap room and they upgraded me. I was booked in for 1 night but was unsure whether I would need an additional night and they said they would tentativet book me for the additional night. As it happens I didnt take up the additional night but it was nice knowing that I had some certainty of accomodation if I needed it. I am definately going to use this motel every time I return to stay in Rotorua.
When we arrived there was no bed available for my son we had to wait 4 hours for this and towels. the room was outdated the balcony was rotten and had spider webs everywhere.Nothing like the pictures on the internet when I first booked.Everything we asked for was unavailable including internet, eftpos facilities. the hotel was short staffed and waiting times for service was too long. reception staff were unhelpful and abrupt. I have put most of these comments in the hotel comments form.
Quietness and spaciousness of the room. a table and three chairs being provided for extra entertaining. N/A
Good price, nice room, nice location, deli restaurant buffet. Reception staff were not friendly.
Good price for room and dinner Mattress could improved Tv reception poor no sky sports as promised
The room was nice and was clean. The hotel looks very run down except inside our room.
my wife lost her prajams at your hotel.but no respose from your staff.
It was convenient for city and surrounds. Staff at front desk very helpful. Staff in Bistro willing to bring a meal late after dinner.
It provided my family with plenty of activities to keep us busy during a cold rainy couple of days. The heated pool, spa, sauna, gymnasium. The restaurant was good with choice of a la carte and buffet. And the bar atmosphere provided adults with a relaxing time. A couple of the staff were just plain messy in simple customer service protocol. It just doesnt help and for ratings, I can understand why it is a 3 stars hotel. For example, a bar staff member could not be bothered to get a spoon (the bar was only 10 meters from the restaurant, and the three of us were the only patrons at the bar) to ensure a specialised drink (shooter) was poured correctly. Presentation is everything some might say and this staff member hasnt heard of that obviously. Perhaps my family and I didnt look important enough!! I did not complain at the time, to ensure my family enjoy the night, so I appreciate the opportunity to comment.
Flexible room arrangement meant we had two bathrooms in the family unit.
It was very well located for us to walk into town. The staff were fantastic, very hekpful and friendly.
The ability to accommodate two couples in two bedrooms within the one unit in comfort.
Clean comfortable and reasonably priced, well located towards the centre of Rotorua
Convenient for city centre without being right in city centre The room was very small
It was a good size room, very close to the centre of Rotorua. Very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.
We stayed in the cottage which was spacious and very well appointed. The pool and thermal spa were welcomed features and the staf were very friendly. The cottage is nice and quiet and for us perfectly positioned near the aquatic centre where we had a swim meet all week-end. We'll definetely stay again here for next year's meet. The only thing the cottage really needed was some maintenance on the window locks. Nearly every single lock was broken to some degree.
Spacious rooms, well equipped kitchen, clean, good location, natural spa pool Not easy to find, we spent about an hour driving up and down and asking people, but nobody seemed to know...
Very quiet with the double glazing and amenites were very well appointed. Would be better to have allocated car parks, so you do not disturb the tennets in the room in front of where you park.
We spent one night in Rotorua on our road trip from Auckland to Wellington, mostly to take in the thermal pools and a night of somewhat authentic Maori culture, there’s a reason the locals nickname it RotoVegas. The Emerald was clean, roomy with a wonderful woman at reception who made check in very smooth. Our room had a Jacuzzi hot tub which I wish we had more time to take advantage of but next time. There is swimming pool on the premises where folks with kids were playing with their kids, looked very well kept. Also, the beds were very comfortable and the complex quiet at night so we had a great nights sleep. I can’t over state how clean the place is though. We also booked a massage with the Siobhan the resident masseuse, which after a long ride from Auckland was very good. Not a traditional massage, more of a rub down.
The whole experience was excellent and would definitely recomend this accomadation
We liked the place very nice staff and very close to town we would stay there agen and going to tell frends about it
The room was comfortable and had all facilities expected. Liked everything except the lack of regular black tea (eg. Dilmah) - too many flavoured teas were available. Also, the prices of room service Breakfasts were astronomical.
Enjoyed it very much, only stayed one night and no complaints.
The room was nice, clean, very nice facilities, just next to Te Puia and the Maori village - great location. The location was however also a disadvantage of the hotel. As the Te Puia sulfur mud pools were very close the air was very smelly and sometimes even very hard to breath.
We stayed with our two small children and our room was extremely well set-up for us when we arrived with a cot and a single bed. Our two year old boy was unfortunately sick the night that we stayed and all his bedding needed to be changed and was in a bit of a state. The staff dealt with it professionally and calmly and made us feel at ease, it was a real treat to be looked after in this way. No, all good
Friendly and professional staff, check in and out procedures were very efficient. Staff willing to meet our needs, room was very comfortable. We did find it a little noisy both late at night and again early in the morning. Our room was in the older wing of the hotel - over the function centre. We have stayed in the newer wing on a previous occassion and it was a lot quieter.
The entertainment for the family. lack of tea/coffee/hot chocolate in room
Very peaceful surroundings. The room service wasn't good in the fact we had to check back after 2 hours. We were told they had missed the order. It was then delivered some 20 mins later. We were advised the Hotel was busy - maybe more staff were needed.
This clean, bright, new, comfortable hotel was very conveniently located for Te Puia and Waiotapu, which were my activities of choice. I'd recommend to anyone going to Rotorua for the Maori cultural experience and geothermal points of interest. Like most NZ hotels, the Heritage Rotorua charged for wireless Internet in the rooms. The international hospitality industry needs to understand that this is a service most travellers now expect nice hotels to include at no additional cost, just like a hairdryer or bathrobe.
Clean and Quiet and relaxing spa and pools, helpful happy staff, good service and good food .Location great for our family Reunion and local sites.Easy to find very handy, Go to the clouds of steam against the hills!
