Minimum two kind food options

Flight from Copenhagen was late, we didn’t make our connection in Zurich . airline new 3 hours ahead about our late arrival and did nothing. We stood in the line for 6 hours in Zurich to rebook a flight, until we were told that no more hotels available and no flights could be rebooked until morning. We stayed in the airport by the transferring desk and still are waiting for our rebooking it’s 5:00 am now.

I was telling a friend today, Swiss Air started with drinks, gave us a Parisian baguette sandwich, gave us a healthy breakfast of yoghurt warm croissant butter jam orange juice, drinks again, and several passengers surrounding me got special attention, one woman with a baby, a disabled person, and a teenager that was 6'5" was relaocated by the flight attendant without him even asking to a bulkhead seat for more comfort. You don't see this kind a attention to detail on any US flights or US airlines, so I noticed it. It was as if I was traveling back in the 70's or 80's when Airlines would compete for our dollars with their service. I mentioned to my friend that if I had a choice and Swiss Air was one of the choices, I'd choose Swiss Air over any other airline."

Fordele: "I really liked the "About my flight" application on the viewing screens because it always gave me an idea of what we were flying over and how much longer we woulld be in the air. The food was excellent and I was pleasantly surprised that I could have wine with dinner or any time the attendants offered beveragess. The attendants were always professional and helpful. They all were fluent in English as well as several other languages. It was a nice touch when the attendant wore white gloves when he or she was collecting passengers' trash after meals and/or beverage service. I loved the cheese that was served at dinner. The warm croissants served at breakfast were a very nice touch."
Ulemper: "Due to turbulence, I could not get out of my seat as much on the return flight, so I did have some swelling in my feet."
Fordele: "Swiss has the most cheerful crews I've seen, and their enthusiasm is infectious which makes it easier to tolerate being cramped in a plane for hours. Also, I love that they give you a Swiss chocolate at the en of the flight."

Ulemper: "I liked everything except the airplane itself, which I hated. I was fortunate enough to get an exit row on my long flight going over; I did not get lucky on my way home. The flights between Zurich and Brindisi were more comfortable than the long haul flights. The long haul flights are abominable and should be outlawed by governments as they are currently configured. The boy next to me literally could not fit his legs/thigh bones in the space provided by his seat. I did okay as I am not tall, until the woman in front of me decided to lean back. It is not her fault, however, though I thought nasty things about her and periodically tried to dig my knees into her back to get her to lift up her seat. The fault belongs entirely to Swiss Air, which chooses to treat human customers as steerage. The only thing that made the experience worse was the impossibility of choosing my seat online for my return because I had only a smart phone with not-great wifi available. Choosing one's seat should not be dependent on having good wifi and a computer, however. It is bad practice to "sell" seat choices. The families around me were not able to sit together because of this shoddy, greedy practice on the part of the airline. It is also not fair, subsequently, that other passengers are faced with giving up the seats they've chosen, or been given, to assist families in sitting together. Honestly, the extent of the greed on the part of airlines nowadays is astonishing. What used to be a thoroughly enjoyable way of traveling has become an ordeal at best."

Ulemper: "I flew from Miami to Zurich, Zurich to France, France to Zurich, and Zurich to Miami within the span of a week and they were all at least 30 minutes late. BUT flight attendants came by with water while we were seated and offered chocolate, which I really liked. It wasn't the worst thing for me, but I can see how it's annoying."

Crazy cold

Delayed departure. Made me have to pay more for parking and had to call out of work.

Gate agent mumbled announcements regarding boarding. This task should be assigned to someone with clear diction. Really hard to understand. We flew first class, and there was not anything first-class about it except the seats. Cheap snacks offered, nothing resembling food, and one pass-through for drink requests on an almost 2 hour flight. Flight attendants seemed tired in this early afternoon. First-class service has really gone downhill with Delta. Hardly worth the extra expense anymore.

Anyone that purchased a Delta 1st Class seat should have access to the Delta Sky Club. My wife and I purchased 1st Class tickets for a Delta flight from SeaTac to Washington Dulles but were denied entrance to the SeaTac Delta Sky Club because we did have an American Express card.

Fordele: "Coming from Europe Alitalia and Delta did an EXCELLENT job at assisting the passengers get rid of their luggage just as soon as we were done going through customs... I don't usually fly on this route, but I thought it was perfect. Transfer between Delta terminal was a breeze too..."
Ulemper: "I usually don't fly from JFK. The food court was expensive (18 dollars base price from a burger seems a high even for an airport. I don't fly from NY normally - so maybe I need to tune my expectation for the locale, and it may have NOTHING to do with the airline company."

Had to scramble so my 18 year old son was not stranded overnight in a strange place and Delta does not help. Only rebooked a flight itinerary for the next day for a 4 hour flight with connections on a 1 hour direct flight. Spent an hour on line to figure out what to do. #neverdelta"

Ulemper: "Boarding was slow and the interviewers were disrespectful. Also I was upgraded last minute and I could never understand the system by which upgrades to first class are granted. Just because I used my points to buy the flight I wasn’t eligible for an upgrade to the one seat left in first class even though the flight is full and I am the first one on comfort+ upgrade list and there was no one on delta one upgrade list."
Ulemper: "The flight left three hours late while the crew was waiting for an oxygen tank to arrive. We were boarded onto the plane after it was nearly an hour and a half late, then waited in out cramped seats for another hour and a half as we continued to wait for the same piece of equipment. At one point a Delta employee announced over the plane's PA system that we'd be getting vouchers to compensate us for this absurd delay, but there was no explanation of how to claim those vouchers."
Fordele: "The crew was friendly, relaxed, made everything seem like a breeze"
Fordele: "I could be wrong, but the seats were very comfortable (for a plane) and I felt my knees weren't as close to the seat in front of me than other airlines. So that's a plus."
Ulemper: "There wasn't electricity at all on my seat and on some other in the same area. The screen didn't work and I couldn't even charge my phone. Very bad experience!"
Fordele: "Comfortable flight, ample leg room, and the chairs were pretty plush. Comfort+ is pretty nice"
Ulemper: "On my first flight they forgot to turn the wifi on. I have unlim data but obviously can't use while in air; no big though."

Fordele: "When I missed my flight from Belgrade to Istanbul due to plane being late 45 min.and I missed my flight to LA, they gave me a free accommodation and meals."
Ulemper: "I didn't like the fact that nobody told me that Ataturk Airport in Istanbul is so big that you can not make to connect flight on time for an hour.Especially if you flight has been late to depart like mine from Belgrade due to the rain. I thought I will make it to the connect flight to LA but the gate was already closed. I was instructed to do multiple errands, to get Turkish visa, etc all on my expense to be able to exit the transit as an American citizen and be able to take Turkish airlines bus to the hotel.The hotel was fine and the meals. The problem was that they calculate bus traveling time wrong in the hotel and put people on the bus next day too late, so due to the traffic jam, we barely made it to the airport, and then we had to stress the officials to put us on the fast passport control lane due to boarding time."

Fordele: "They are literally the BEST airline I have every flown! All the crew are so nice and it is their policy to give you all of the comforts - pillows, blankets, headphones, drinks (including alcohol), movies, musics, games, meals, snacks and probably more! I don't think they have a way to take money! This was the best flying experience I have ever had! The plane itself was also very nice. There was touchscreen in front of me with all kinds of entertainment plus a USB charger for my phone. They also made sure the closest connecting flight folks had gate attendants waiting for them. The service is phenomenal all the way around!"

Ulemper: "The seat spacing on that flight was some of the tightest I have ever seen - worse than even most of the short-haul (Embraer) flights i have been on - barely manageable for 3.5 hours. Flight attendants were borderline rude and bossy, but they had to be, because the passengers were loud and unruly."

Ulemper: "When I check-in for flight from Rome to Istanbul and Istanbul to Los Angeles, only the first leg of trip was confirmed correctly. For the leg from Istanbul to Los Angeles I confirmed a window seat when I checked-in online. However, when I arrived at the airport I has a middle seat and could not change it and the 15 hour flight was miserable. I also asked to be upgraded to business class and told it would be $3,500.00, which was ridiculous."
Fordele: "The flight was great and the service was wonderful. The plane was new and clean. A huge plus was the video entertainment in every seat along with headphones and USB Charging Port. They poured me a double Glenlivet scotch on the rocks at NO CHARGE!"
Ulemper: "I booked three round-trip tickets from LAX to Athens. Our daughter did not fly with us there but we checked with ticketing in LAX and they booked her seat anyway. The issue came when we tried to leave Athens the airlines then said that I had to purchase a one-way ticket! They informed me that the flight was cancelled for my daughter because she didn't fly to Athens. The ticket was almost $1,500.00 and I intend to get my money back but it was unfortunate that they had to charge me for it in the first place."

Its a 13 and half hour leg and when in the middle of that long journey when asked for a snack, the crew was not aware of the options that were listed on their very own menu. They ended up telling me that they must have run out of one of the options listed in the menu which they were not aware even existed 2 minutes ago."

Ulemper: "Virgin website is slow and not intuitive. Couldn't get seat assignment until i was at the gate. No explanation why. Boarding announcements delivered via ESP. Half of the passengers were still in the boarding area because no one heard announcements. Arrived 30 min early but had to wait on the tarmac for 45 min for a parking gate. Baggage delivery at JFK took forever."

Fordele: "The flight crew was phenomenal, especially Daniella. Somehow we wound up with seats right next to the bathroom door, which would have been a pretty uncomfortable situation for a variety of reasons, but the flight wasn't full, and she helped us find a suitable place to sit. Also, my wife and I usually take our tea with honey vs. milk and sugar. Even though honey is usually one of the options for tea, she found a way to accommodate our request. The lunch meals were the best I can remember in a long time on an airline flight. They might have been the best I've ever had. The chicken curry was authentic, flavorful and spicy. Frankly my outbound flight had problems. My luggage got damaged. The transfer experience in Manchester left a LOT to be desired. I wasn't planning to use Virgin Atlantic again, but this flight crew (Daniella especially) redeemed Virgin Atlantic. They were attentive, pleasant, diligent."
Ulemper: "Only thing I didn't like about this flight was the boarding area. Once you get into that the area, you don't really have access to appetizing food (only vending machines) or even restrooms. That's one thing that could be improved."

Ulemper: "I paid extra for Economy Delight seats for me and my wife. Shortly after take-off, our calm and comfortable more or less empty section of the aircraft was colonised by an extended family of Orthodox Jews in a kind of airborne West Bank situation. They weren’t in our section of the cabin at all to start with, and I don’t know why they were apparently able to get a free upgrade that I had to pay £100 for. We went from being in an almost empty cabin to being basically sat in the middle of an Orthodox Jewish kindergarten. It was awful! They were noisy, messy, were constantly getting in and out of their seats, the back of my seat kept getting kicked, and there was even a baby crawling around the aisle. We were surrounded. I have no idea whether this is characteristic of Orthodox Jewish family life, or just a completely inconsiderate family. They didn’t exactly ruin my flight, but they didn’t make it enjoyable either. I asked to be moved. The cabin crew were great and acknowledged the difficulty of the situation. My wife lost her window seat but at least we still had the legroom and peace and quiet."

Fordele: "Quite a big choice of movies and TV shows to watch, more than enough for an eight hour flight. Normal headphone plugs so you can use your own."
Ulemper: "I booked together with my wife, yet we were allocated seats apart and were not able to be reassigned together. The leg room was so tight that I could not pick up things off the floor without putting my head in the next persons lap. Though the cabin crew were smiley and friendly, it was hard to get their attention when needed. The PA system is much louder than the entertainment, so announcements were ear bursting. The dinner selections ran out early, so a good proportion did not get their choice."
Fordele: "Everything went very fast and smooth. I didn't have to queue for the boarding. The Sita were very comfortable, the crew very friendly and halepful and the selection of the movies A+."
Fordele: "Choice of movies was good, but told the flight over was better. I flew another airline. Had no issue checking one bag in for free, but I think that is standard on an international flight."
Ulemper: "Entertainment systems take up foot/bag space underneath the seats. Was not able to get more than one glass of wine, even though I missed the first beverage service, that is my fault though, but I don't recall it being an issue getting a drink between services. Entertainment systems had contrast issues and it seemed like a lot of people 8 - 10 had issues since they were using iPads instead of the built in monitors. A lot of wear showing on the entertainment systems remotes."
Fordele: "The speed of boarding, then the frequency of service. Cabin crew were very dedicated. All in all, a very smooth flight. Ps. my first Virgin was called Carole. ;)"
Ulemper: "The food left a lot to be desired, but apart from my flight on Emirates to Auckland, Airoplne food does tend to be somewhat......mmmm not sure what the word is, but room for improvement describes it."

Ulemper: "The seats are very uncomfortable on Austrian air. The only way I would fly them again would be if I had extra money for the exit rows with more leg room. Food isn't great, but no airline food is really great. Boarding was significantly delayed from what it said on the boarding pass, with no updates. But we arrived on time. Getting luggage after flight at Dulles took a really long time, but I think that is more of an airport issue as getting my luggage from another Austrian airlines flight to another airport was a breeze."

Ulemper: "The food was not good at all and the entertainment selection was so limited. This was so weird because coming back from Vienna it was the complete opposite."
Fordele: "Crew was nice and very accommodating. Food service timing was good. Restrooms serviced every one efficiently. Electronic service outlets are quite helpful and thoughtful."
Ulemper: "Only at boarding we were notified to be TSA screened, we ended up the last passengers to board and caused flight delay... Electronic check in did not provide food selection, specially for individuals who suffer some food allergies... Boarding process to be revised taking in consideration last minute matters to be better coordinated."

Ulemper: "Since the plane clearly came from another destination, the cleaning crew at Vienna International Airport could have taken some more time to vacuum the floor and wipe down the surfaces in the passenger cabin of the aircraft."

Ulemper: "austrian and lufthansa have the worst seats in the industry. good for seating for about 30 minutes ONLY. so tough that make the trip feel even longer. a charger is needed in economy (at least one every two seats). wifi has not made it to this long haul flight yet."

Ulemper: "Not enough room for overhead bags. Had to put mine in the front of the plane while I sat at the back of the plane. What I really didn't like is that I called Kayak to include my Global Entry number on my boarding pass. They said it would be there and when I printed it, it wasn't. So coming back into the states and thru customs took waaay longer than it should have with those chaotic and ridiculously long lines. I didn't bring my Global Pass card with me and will from now on!"
Fordele: "The economy seats had as much leg room as the Premium Economy seats on Luthansa, so the comfort over a long flight was better than I expected."
Ulemper: "The charge for checking a 2nd bag was $100 which I thought was much too high. Food was average and not enough given that we were on the plane for over 10 hours."
Ulemper: "When our plane arrived late, many on board had missed connections. We received no help/guidance at gate, other than to be told to go up one floor. One floor up we had to go thru security to reach customer service. 100 people lined up for customer service from 3 Austrian airline reps. After 2 hours of standing, there were still 27 people ahead of me. The woman behind me gave me the local phone number for Austrian airlines and I was able to get on a flight to US leaving in 30 minutes. I managed to make it, and would not have had I waited another hour in line. Why no surge of staff to help? All 3 help numbers on my Lufthansa e-mail receipt could not help. Horrible experience."
Ulemper: "We sat on the tarmac for 2 hours because a crew member did not have the proper paperwork. This is incompetence. The trip was long enough w/o adding another two hours due to poor planning. This was completely preventable."
Fordele: "The pilots are very skilled and keeps you informed about every single “bump” during the flight. Flight attendents are very nice, pleasant, polite and helpful."
Fordele: "Service was great and the flight on time."
Fordele: "Flight was cancelled. Waited over two hours to be rebooked. Nothing was offer. Special meals was not available for a flight that is over 9 hours. No other food was available."

Ulemper: "Boarding was chaotic, cramped. Passengers kept lining up only to be sent back to the end of the line after documents were checked three separate times. Only first class passengers were allowed at the gate. Chaotic and frustrating. Not what one would expect of Austrian efficiency!"
Fordele: "The B-767 is far superior to the B-777 in comfort; it is not so horribly crowded."
Ulemper: "Austrian check-in at VIE was a disaster. None of the machines could read my passport; and when you entered the data by alternative methods it STILL required a machine to read the passport--which it exactly what they were unable to do. Thus, it was a circular Catch 22. I went through six different lady agents working my way through the system, until they finally took my bag and let me go. They themselves said it was new to them and they did not fully grasp how it worked and they did not know why it did not accept me. SOFTWARE PEOPLE BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD."

Ulemper: "I paid a premium to book a direct flight (ages ago) and then had to rerouted last minute (same day) with no reason given other than "it's our fault". I inquired about paying to change destination city and or seat to a premium seat (for the 9+ hour flight) when I recvd the reservations for the new flights that were made at the airport around 8am for flights that left at around noon and 3pm. I was told no better seat(s) was available. However, a half hour before the flight was boarded several announcements were made regarding all the upgrades that were available. Liars annoy me."
Fordele: "The crew worked so hard and were always ready to do more for any problem that arose, be it, mothers with babies, the elderly and infirm, the less than gracious occasional passenger, or younger children. The entertaining things on the individual screens also helped make the long periods of sitting more manageable for young and old."
Ulemper: "I didn't like how the passengers in general, left the cabin of the plane in such a mess! The crew came through several times for refuse, so I couldn't understand. Leaving pillows and blankets should be the only thing to clear out. Maybe a note on the TV screen could say, "a tidy plane helps flights be on time :-)""

Ulemper: "The flight was 9 and half hours and the food was very poor, I was starving ,maybe AA can improve that, it would be nice if they could add a little bit of fruit and a yogurt for a good digestion .Also, the sandwich they gave us at the end was so small ,maybe they can give us a real sandwich instead ..Sorry AA ,but you need to work on that .For the price I paid I can fly United ,they don't let me starve."

Ulemper: "Seats in economy class are way too crowded, plane was too warm and air was stale (and had an odd odor). Choices of dinner selections ran out quickly, and serving any type of curry (the only option left) on an 8 hour flight is a very questionable choice.... Staff gave some people the full can of drinks, while others only a half glass. Also, even though there was not much turbulence throughout the flight, the plane was still VERY shaky for the majority of the time in the air. Not very comforting for those who are not frequent flyers. In the future, I plan to stick with British Airlines."
Fordele: "Very professional and friendly. The food was delicious and really appreciated the extra rolls!! Seats were very comfortable."
Ulemper: "The entertainment selection for adults was very good (really liked the documentary section and Asian movie offering). However they need more films or programs for ages 2-10 .... There is a section for family and kids but almost all of the movies are more appropriate for ages 9 and up."
Fordele: "We liked that the boarding process seemed to have been streamlined and organized from other flights (this was a UNITED flight which we flew through Austrian Airlines). It was efficiently done. We thought the selection of movies to watch were terrific. So glad to have caught up on several I had wanted to see. Considering we had a 3 hour delay, I got to catch up on ALL the movies I wanted to watch!"
Ulemper: "The plane was delayed just over 3 hours by a mechanical problem with the radar. We taxied to a remote gate while they tried to fix it. Original estimates were an hour, but it ended up being 3 hours. We stayed onboard which was probably best in this case - but having been trapped by United on a flight many years ago from 4 pm until midnight with 3 small children and then told to come back at 7 am the next day - I am very wary of the airline now and actually drive from Washington to Chicago as we could have done that in the time they trapped us! This flight was practically empty however, so unlike many transatlantic flights, we could spread out and were more comfortable than usual. So that was lucky for United otherwise my scores might have been a LOT worse! Also, we hadn't eaten, figuring that we would eat dinner on the flight. So after 3 hours we were a bit peckish! The crew came around with a cookie and water. Really think that might have been a little more especially considering the flight had so few passengers. So we arrived back in DC just about 10 pm and, after clearing customs and getting bags, were home to Arlington about midnight - 5 am our time! Given the conditions and circumstances, the crew did a good job. I would like to think that Austrian Airlines would have some input with United. The outbound daytime flight from Washington to London had been simply terrific with a wonderful crew - new to the route I think. They gave as pointers as to what we were seeing out the window, which we always appreciate. Just as my daughter wondered what we were seeing out the window, the captain would tell us. So in short, the outbound flight was in a different league to the return flight. But that's down to United and not Austrian Airlines. And these things happen and I'm glad we didn't have to change planes or make other plans."
