Need some instruction on how to use the shower controls, no details what so ever!!!!

Ulemper: Having to change room because of broken leg on the bed,, having to ask for a bulb for the lamp. I would have expected the rooms to be checked before guests arriving! Had no complaint about anything else, and the problems where resolved. But we had been travelling all day and just wanted to settle in,without any fuss.

Ulemper: The decor was in need of a freshen up and the bathroom was very small, with mouldy smell, then noticed mould on the wall by the shower. Shower on off tap was really hard to turn with wet hands. No clear direction as to when breakfast was coming? My husband and I went into Bishops Stortford for breakfast.

Ulemper: Bathroom smelled a bit damp and had some mould by the shower. Room adequate and bed comfy but decor needed a little TLC

Fordele: The Willows is situated down a country lane surrounded by lovely countryside with just a few other houses nearby. Accommodation is in small cabins in the grounds, each with a pleasant outdoor table and chairs. As each cabin has its own key, there is no problem with arrival times. (We were not flying, just visiting friends nearby, so cannot comment on the ease of getting to and from the airport.) The beds were comfortable but some better pillows and a flat sheet would have made for a more comfortable night as the duvets made us too hot.

Ulemper: Pillows supplied on the beds were very thin and we only found a bundle of extra pillows and bedding when we were packing to leave - our fault, of course, but it would have been good if someone had pointed out that the untidy bundles under a shelf were actually useful! The décor is, at best, serviceable so don't expect anything smart. The shower was only lukewarm no matter how often we fiddled with the controls. The delivery of breakfast and loud voices from the neighbouring cabin woke us in the morning.

Ulemper: Vi ankom ca kl 3 om natten, Der var sat en seddel i vinduer at her skulle vi sove, ungerne sov i det ene rum, da min kone og jeg gik ind så jeg et sort dyr kravle på gulvet, tænkte det var en enlig, men der kakerlakker over det hele, da vi tog dynen væk, var der 3 i sengen, der kunne vi simpelthen ikke sove, forsøgte og ringe til værten, men han tog ikke telefonen, da det er et stykke ude på landet, gik der 1 time inden vi fik fat i en taxa, børnene var kede af det og var trætte efter en lang dag, vi kom til lufthavnen og fik booket et værelse på raison blue, vil sige at vi havde udgifter 2 gange, jeg regner med at få pengene tilbage, jeg har billeder fra værelserne. Glæder mig til at høre fra jer. Mvh Mette

Fordele: Very near to Stansted Airport. No aircraft noise and quiet location. Continental breakfast more than adequate.

Ulemper: Unfortunately there was a water main burst in close proximatey to The Willows which had the obvious outcome - no water!! (Not the fault of the owners!)

Fordele: People are very friendly and nice, the room is warmly decorated and very neat and tidy. The bathroom is nice too, it has a good shower.

Ulemper: they only make transfers from the guest house to the stansted airport, but not the other way round, so it costs about 7 pounds to get from stansted airport to there.

Fordele: Fin overnatningsmulighed - til en rimelig pris - når man skal med det tidlige fly fra Stansted. Kl. 5:30 om morgenen blev vi kørt til lufthavnen af værtsparret - for beskedne 5 £. ( Efter kl. 6 er det endda gratis !).

Ulemper: We arrived late in the evening and it was difficult to see the hotel sign from the road in the dark (we drove past it twice).Could have done with the sign illuminated. Neighbours friendly and directed us.

Fordele: Super god service. Vores værelse var nyt, moderne og rent. Alt var lækkert. Vi ankom sent, men følte os meget velkomne og stor forståelse for vores behov. Det var ligesom der var tænkt på alt.

Fordele: Super close to the airport! Check in service was so nice, the personnel made us feel very welcomed. Also when you handle your payment at arrival and don't open a tab, you can use express checkout, where you just leave your room key in a box. Bathroom is really well lit for doing makeup etc. Nice large fluffy towels. We only stayed for about 7 hours between flights, but definitely would have loved to have stayed for longer.

Fordele: Clean, cosy place. Figure out, "shared bathroom". If you have problems with this stay away. Otherwise pretty place. Every half hour bus to Stansted (7).

Ulemper: Close location to Elsenham station. Not really, you walk 20 minutes, No taxi available, espacially at night, and surpricingly the Street are So Dark that you feel in the middle of nowhere. Try to book taxi before you arrive online, the landlady helps with it.

Fordele: Stansted Lodge was excellent! I stayed there the night before an early flight from Stansted. It was a perfect location, very clean and comfortable, and the facilities were excellent.

Ulemper: The only problem I had was that it was very loud. I seemed to be able to hear everything, phone conversations in other rooms, and footsteps down the stairs and through the halls when people left for very early flights. So that was one let down but probably not really at the fault of the property.

Fordele: The breakfast was very good, tea or coffee plus cereal,toast wholemeal or white, ham cheese salami and salad a proper continental style breakfast. Also Mariela's apple cake is to die for.

Ulemper: The shower door would not close properly but i understand the owners are aware of this. Also a glass in the bathroom would be helpful to rinse your mouth after cleaning your teeth.

Ulemper: Room was very basic, bedding was very old style, no bed side tables to allow you to put water cup/tea cup onto over night. Was noisy as people come and go during the night.

Fordele: Comfortable stay, extremely warm and friendly welcome! We were also booked a taxi by the host who was very lovely. Distance a bit further from Stansted airport than expect (15-20 mins taxi ride)

Fordele: I needed a place to stay for the night before taking an early flight the next morning. The property is conveniently located not far from the railway station nor from the airport. The lady in charge was extremely kind, and made me feel very welcome. Spotless clean. Highly recommended!

Fordele: The hostess was super hospitable and gave us loads of information on attractions around London and what's the easiest way to get there. Comfortable beds, tasty and simple food, nice location and a cosy garden. Free wifi that worked perfectly too.

Ulemper: Had problems with the shower, it wouldn't heat up the water no matter what setting it was on and the pressure was way too low.

Fordele: Very helpful, happy staff lady. En-suite was a surprise and the kitchen facilities very good.

Ulemper: No bedside table to put glasses and the table light in the room did not work. Late arrivals at 1.15 am were extremely noisy and above my room so a lot of banging and I could hear their footsteps and talking for an hour. It was noisy at that time of the morning, I asked them politely to please be quiet, we had early flights. But they ignored this. Perhaps they could have been asked by the staff to think of others.

Fordele: The location to the train station was good. The breakfast was nice. The dressing gowns in the cupboard were a nice touch as it was a shared bathroom. Decor was quirky.

Ulemper: The doors were creaky and woke me up quite a lot in the night (especially as it was a shared bathroom so people were getting up a lot in the night). The bed wasn't massively comfortable.

Fordele: I had the top floor ensuite. It was small but enough just for myself. In the room there was everything you need - coffee machine, water, TV, great toiletries, clothes rack. Shower and hot water were just perfect! Breakfast was very good and the owner very attentive. She even helped me to book a taxi which was great!

Ulemper: There’s nothing to complain about just a few details to look at.. The owner never introduced herself so I never knew her name! Towels and pillows were a little too old. The room was quite clean but the armchairs needed a good vacuum. As said nothing too serious.

Fordele: Host was super-friendly and very accommodating: after checking in, we had to go out for quite a while, and we were unable to be back until quite late. The host waited up for us. Next morning when we left we accidentally left a coat behind, and only noticed a couple of hour s later. The host made light work of sorting it out even though she was not there. Very helpful!

Ulemper: Room is quite small and the bathroom, though big enough, is also quite small. The on-site parking is quite tight, but there is ample parking on the verge across the way.

We only stayed for approximately 5 hours so didn’t get to see what facilities the hotel had. Staff were friendly on check in, and organised a wake up call. Ulemper: Queues to outside the door when trying to check in. 5 check in desks only one, then two being seen to be manned - bonkers. Instead of checking in we went to the bar -£10 for a glass of wine (!) and nearly an hour later still crazy queues to check in!!

Fordele: We had stayed at this hotel for one night ten days previous when we were disappointed for a number of reasons especially after staying on a fairly regular basis in Radisson Hotels and usually extremely happy, however normal service was resumed and we were extremely satisfied and our faith returned, I would also like to add breakfast was excellent. We are staying again on the 8th October.

Ulemper: Room not made up properly dirty linen lying around, bed not made properly , surly rude and uncooperative receptionist ( very bad ) promises not kept , ignored us , terrible food in one of the restaurants had to be replaced and took ages , no one cares - awful and - we stay here a lot , its going massively downhill , due a giant kick up the backside and a make over plus re-training for everyone .

Ulemper: Noise from air conditioning unit (although switched OFF) kept me awake. When I rang reception at 1.30am to complain I was put onto recorded music as if I was calling from outside. I had to go down to reception to arrange a room swap. If the call had been an emergency this could have been disastrous. VERY UNIMPRESSED! Rooms very tired and needing refurb.

Fordele: unfortunately, I was only there for a short period due to catching an early morning flight, but the room was spacious and clean. Great value at the price as well.

Ulemper: nothing it was good

Fordele: Convenient being close to services, hotel staff especially reception very accommodating.

Ulemper: Sausages as an option at breakfast would have made it perfect, staff using back of the breakfast area to smoke not ideal as the smoke was coming in through the open door.

Fordele: Front desk staff bothe very helpful. Parking overnight included and extra night only £5

Ulemper: I arrived in the early morning (1am) from Stansted and collected my room card, only to discover upon opening the door that 'my' room was occupied! I fled back to reception where the receptionist looked at his screen and proclaimed that the room was empty and did not seem overly concerned by the error. I did eventually get a vacant room but my heart went out to the 2 ladies who must have had an unnecessary shock.

Fordele: Rigtig venligt og hjælpsomt personale! Vi rejste tre studerende sammen og valgte dette hotel som en billig løsning. Vi havde derfor ikke høje forventninger, da pris og kvalitet ofte hænger sammen. Vi blev positivt overrasket over de fine værelser og det søde personale! Det kan varmt anbefales.

Fordele: We only stayed for one night arriving late and leaving early to catch a flight. Staff were very helpful and polite.

Ulemper: Bathroom shower floor is very slippery could do with non slip tiles

Fordele: Not a lot for the price we paid

Ulemper: The room was next to the kitchen extractor hence we couldn't open the window because of the noise even through the night Also there was a light blown in the bedroom and 1 in the bathroom room 24 I booked the lakeside restaurant for a meal and when we arrived we got shown into a basic room that had been converted into restaurant We waited 45mins for our starters then when our main steak meals were served they were very very basic for the price of £23 each better quality at Beefeater

Fordele: The breakfast was lovely and so was the bridal suite

Ulemper: The noise of the planes overhead. The location was so lovely but the plane noise made it difficult to sleep.

Fordele: Very nice room, waiter in the dining room trying his best, food of good quality

Ulemper: Waiting too long at reception, no apology forthcoming, we were told we couldn’t eat until 8pm, went to the bar for a drink and the bar is closed, we sat on coaches in a corridor room, then told we could eat when we liked, ordered steak, none available - wow! For a four star hotel! Ordered wine, waiter passed me the corkscrew as he didn’t know how to open a wine bottle, then chef came from kitchen and opened it, fire alarm went off, staff left the dining room, guests remained. It was a bit of a “Flawty Towers” experience-wouldn’t go again. Sorry!

Fordele: All the staff except 2 were wonderful efficient and very attentive.

Ulemper: The room we were in was a bit shabby. When we arrived the floor clearly hadn't been cleaned and didn't feel comfortable walking a out barefoot. The headboard was badly stained which was off putting.

Fordele: StAff very good helpful and friendly. Hotel itself was good

Ulemper: The worst part of our stay was lack of sleep as we had no idea we were 100 ft away from the flight path into standstead. I had chosen the hotel because it was off airport site. And was hoping for a relaxed start to our holiday

Fordele: The grounds were fabulous. Loved the airplanes overhead. The food was great.

Ulemper: I had mistakenly booked double room for single use, realised my error but was able to amend the booking to 2 adults. However the room servicing info obviously hadnt been updated - on both days I had to request additional tea/coffee/milks and an extra mug.

Fordele: Well situated near the M11. Clean, modern and spacious rooms. The hotel is close to the airport runway but the noise from planes were not an issue. Nice quiet and secluded place close to the airport.

Ulemper: Parking can be confusing especially at night. The main building has a formality to it that reminds me of a conference centre. It could have more personal touches.

Fordele: Theoretically, the location is convenient for Stansted - it is close, but the road system is difficult to navigate for strangers to the area. However, I had a good night's sleep and found the airport in good time for my flight next morning. Breakfast was good.

Ulemper: Staff could be a bit more proactive in looking after guests - there seems to be an assumption that guests know where everything in the hotel is located. I was accommodated in an annex across the road from the main building - when I checked in, the receptionist took me to the front door and pointed to a building across the road - I had difficulty finding the right entrance and had to wait until somebody vacated a parking space before I could park the car. I asked a member of staff where the bar was located and I was directed to, guess what, a bar - 10 minutes later a cleaning lady came by and informed me that the bar was in fact closed in the evenings. She escorted me to the restaurant, which had a bar that was open, but the staff there made it clear they didn't want non-dining guests getting in the way of service and I ended up taking my beer to the lobby. While I was there, another guest asked me where the bar was, and so at least, I was able to spare him the slightly awkward experience that I had just endured.

Ulemper: The superior double room was fabulous and clean the bed comfortable and bathroom excellent. However the planes from Stansted airport fly so low overhead that you cannot sleep until midnight when they stop and get woken at 6 when they start again. Such a shame but they need to soundproof the rooms.

Fordele: Skønne omgivelser, med park og lille sø. Dejlig terrasse med servering.

Ulemper: Manglende air condition på værelse. Startbanen fra Stansted airport giver konstant overflyvning i meget lavhøjde og det er det samme som desværre næsten ingen nattesøvn.

Fordele: Close and easy to get to the airport. Decent modern bedroom which was comfortable.

Ulemper: Bar/restaurant was all one which is not condusive to good atmosphere. Drinks very expensive. Room was double booked which was very annoying.

Fordele: Had a nice feel to it, the rooms were comfortable and modern

Ulemper: Wooden floors were quite noisy and it is close to Stansted airport. I didn't hear the planes at night but if you are a light sleeper....

Fordele: Quiet hotel and excellent customer service - very comfortable rooms.

Ulemper: There was no internet access/wifii and network coverage was poor for mobile phones.

Fordele: good sized bedrooms clean and comfortable

Ulemper: a problem with reception staff, asked to book a taxi to the airport on our arrival and then at 7.15am on the morning, I had to ask when the taxi did not arrive and the rsponse was 'I forgot' this resulted is us being 45 minutes late to meet the group

Fordele: the rooms were brand new which was lovely and teh resturant was beautiful

Ulemper: The hotel is currently being reburbished therefore there are work men around and heavy machinery. Not as quiet as you may like either due to this but due to the price we paid we were happy enough as the rooms were lovely and we were just sating for a wedding that evening away from the hotel . If I had paid full price as per their tarrif I think I would have been a little upset though!

Fordele: The location was beautiful, the room was lovely, the bathroom was luxurious, the staff were friendly and noted our comments on departure. Would definitely stay there again.

Ulemper: Unfortunately under Stanstead flight path but we knew that. Air con not yet working in newly developed room so room was hot and opening door meant airplane noise was pretty loud, but these things would not prevent us staying there again. Few little improvements needed - no where to hang wet towels but they know this and will change. The 'great' far outweighed the 'development needs'.

Fordele: We had a fantastic stay, the food was service was 1st class, the room was 1st class, the staff were 1st class, it was more like staying on a cruise liner than a hotel,

Ulemper: Not many choices for food around.

Fordele: Let at komme til fra lufthavnen, dog skal man tage taxa. Starbucks og indkøbsmuligheder lige på den anden side af gaden.

Ulemper: Man kører igennem en rasteplads for at komme der til.

Ulemper: No sound proofing, could not sleep because of the guests upstairs. You can hear them walking...

Fordele: Its pet friendly close to motorway

Ulemper: Only as thing they didn't leave any loo roll when they cleaned the room

Fordele: Having stayed previously was everything I expected. Definitely had a good night's sleep regardless of the airport nearby.

Ulemper: No comment.

Fordele: The hotel was a perfect location for dropping off our hire car and catching our plane. It was at a services stop on the motorway so easy to get to and also there were places to get something to eat.

Ulemper: The carpet on the stairs was a bit grubby and sad - but nevermind, it was only for one night.

Fordele: Close to the airport

Fordele: The bed was comfy and that’s all I wanted on this occasion. Staff were friendly and didn’t have any issues.

Ulemper: TV in relation to the bed or chair is far too small. The walls were marked up and looked fairly grotty. Didn’t spoil my stay too much, it’s more of a superficial observation.

Ulemper: There was nothing we did not like, good points include Reception manned 24 hours, all the staff were friendly and helpful. Room clean and well stocked with tea coffee making, hair dryer and shower gel. Also a really easy to use shower, which was easy to get in to. Room very quiet and breakfast facilities were all within 100 yards. It was also really good value for money

Fordele: There is a public bus that stops very close and takes you to Stansted Airport.

Fordele: The room was a little bit dated but it was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The bed was super comfy and I had a fabulous sleep. Price was great and was so easy for the airport.

Ulemper: Couldn’t fault it

Fordele: The hotel was lovely and friendly. The manager was very helpful. If you are going to book ring them direct on car parking. I was unfortunate to learn after that you can leave your car there and they take you, plus pick you up from the airport. Fabulous place. Would use again.

Fordele: It was very close to Stanstead airport. They have their own shuttle service £12 pp return to the airport. It might be cheaper to take a taxi! It’s that close!

Ulemper: The car park was not at all well lit or well cared for, and walking back to the hotel from my car was quite scary. The decor in the hotel is a bit weird.

Ulemper: Required pick up from airport, phoned as requested, was told 6 mins and person hung up on us. Phoned back told on way Car did not arrive phoned again and spoke to a different person we had waited 35 mins before anyone arrived. Was greeted on the eventual arrival by the last person we spoke to who was most sorry and gave us the reason (to do with the driver). Offered refreshment declined as we were then running late. I think it is now possible that this has been and addressed and may never happen again

Fordele: The size of our room was very good, plenty of space for 4 adults

Fordele: Værelset var rummeligt og rent. transfer fra og til lufthavnen fungerede fint.

Ulemper: Vi overnattede på hotellet grundet et aflyst fly. Vi var derfor meget afhængig af nettet så vi kunne få booket nye flybilletter m.m. Men vifi virker kun i receptionen og mobilnettet virker slet ikke.

Ulemper: The room wasnt cleaned when we went out for the day. I asked about train stations and was told it was 2 mile away. I wasnt offered a lift to the station at all even though the hotel had it's own taxi service
